They confirmed that it is not possible to open the new cards from the collector track. This is definitely a change because it was possible to get lucky and open a new series 5 card when it was newly released in the past.
The flexible series drops gets a lot contempt. There is at least one thing it gets right. Bad cards need to leave series 4 and 5 asap. Imagine getting a series 5 drop and it was snowguard (too soon?). This is also why they need buff kang. If they want him to be permanent series 5, he needs to be good enough to live up to that hype.

There is an unconfirmed rumour going around that you simply can't open Spider Ham in a cache. I only had him and Snow Guard left in series 4, opened 60 boxes, and of course got Snow Guard. I have not heard of anyone who got Spider Ham. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
You know they said this wasn’t intentional but…with all the decisions they make lately it makes you wonder ,and I hope the people who were going through their collection track and didn’t get ham as the only remaining series four card get compensation

I'm pretty sure, this "bug" was a test to see if it works. Because, previously (with winter variants or steampunk variants can't remember), they said (on discord) that they'll work on collector's reserves about not getting new things in these saved caches. So it's seems it works and soon enough they'll announce this news. If this turns out to be true, they are very sneaky. (sorry for bad english)
I had about 24 reserves to open when Ham released...I did indeed pull a Series 4....Snowguard...FML. Oh well, he is absolutely worth the 3k I spent for him
I think 79 is the max you can go between getting series 4 with the pity system. If you were only missing spiderham from series 4, it was bugged and they are looking into it.
