what is happening when you shot the boss with ur sidearm, how are you able to tell the real one apart??

I think that the right one gives white damage numbers while the incorrect ones give yellow ones

when i shoot the correct clone the boss's healthbar updates so I'm checking which clone causes the health bar to change when i shoot it
