Nice to see your still making videos and didn’t fall victim to the wave of creators quitting
What wave?
@@christiandelacruz7125 2 or 3 UA-camrs calling it quits. Not much of a wave really but hey it's cool.
@@christiandelacruz7125 a lot of UA-camrs have been quitting in the last month, and I mean really successful UA-camrs there’s been atleast about 5 that I know of, and MKBHD even made a video about a lot of these creators quitting or taking a hiatus
@@motorcycle-manit's a lot more than that.
I'm NOT into photography or video editing, but I love watching @danielschiffer videos. Thanks for inspiring me to explore the little creativity that I have.
I like your Nick_Name ☝️😁
Daniel, you have teaching skill.. you clearly explained creative issues that we experience for years but not easy to verbally express :)
Been here for years, thank you for all you do for us creatives that are trying to learn!!

Daniel you are totally right, I never thought it that way. Thanks for all these years of videos, you definitely are a inspiration for me.
I 100% agree and some of my best content that I create is when I’m doing it for myself with no pressure
The work to result ratio on these kinds of projects make me go insane. Keep up the killer work Schiffer 👊🏽
LOVE the creativity as always, thanks for sharing.
The King is back. Nice Daniel, keep the good work!!!

Yup very true! I need to work on more spec commercials. I haven't done one in a while!
Wow, this totally needed to be put out there. Couldn't agree 100% more.
Admire your work. Thank for making this video.
Loved it. I agree with you there.
Good on you mate. Thanks so much for providing such insight into your thought process. Very valuable 🤝
Creativity is a Muscle that needs to be constantly trained is gonna be my motto for the whole year 💪
Totally agree! Well said
Every working photographer should be doing client work as well as personal projects. Daniel you are 100% correct. Personal projects are the most fun because this is we’re we get to work on what WE want. It is interesting when meeting with an art director or producer from an ad agency as they go through your book they always stop on my personal work. They can tell what was produced for a client.
The reason is they know you produced this and they want to know YOUR vision for their client, how you think not an agency. You want to get hired for your vision and creativity. Personal work is where we get to show off our vision.
Spec work… I never thought of that before. Should’ve been obvious to me but Wow! For some reason I keep thinking the only things I need to have in my portfolio are videos I’ve made solely for clients. Thank you for sharing this! I’ll make a huge difference for me.
Bro thank you so much for your vids. You are an inspiration to me
great video. I love to see how you made the video you talked about in this video. Thanks!
Daniel, you're simply dope playa'! 👊🏽

This is so good .. Thank you!
inspiring as always man
That moment when you are about to skip what you think is an opening ad by youtube , but you realize its actually apart of the video instead..............top notch work dan
Thanks for sharing it. ✌️
Thought I just saw an SSG hoodie! So awesome
Awesome!!!!!!!👏
Next Level Spec Commercial you have here.
great advice....
100% right!
Can’t believe I’m just now finding this channel 😭 been watching his videos for the past 2 days
I always shoot Travel Stuff...now I want to try Product Videography like you!!
nice one daniel.👏👏👏
That's the thing, sometimes doing ultra creative and skillful projects for no money is what levels us up. Having that dollar amount and expect to work for the clients, will limit to their wants. Sometimes, it's not the best you can produce either.
Hey, its been long since you posted! Hope you are doing good!
Waiting for more videos from you! 🙌🏻
this is video that i need
Really dope
We've preached this message for a long time.
Can you teach us how to color grade, I don’t understand the process of it. And adding luts
Interesting. Shooting for free is important, and you are free to practice, but sometimes I agree to make commercial thing for the first time. Way more cheaper, but still I know someone expects the result. It motivates to deliver. And sometimes (almost all the time) clients do not see the can is different ;)
Uploading a UA-cam video that you will make money on based on a video on why you still shoot videos for free is matrix style thinking. Good job.
I know I'm over a month late to this but you mentioned that superimposing the can was tedious (I agree), how would you solve for that moving forward? I was waiting for you to address it. Would love to hear your insight!
I can absolutely relate to this! However, I am kind of anxious to stop producing content for free at this point 😅
the answer should be simple: making videos is fun. you don't have to constantly think about whether its free or paid if at the end of the day it's fun and enjoyable.
Cause if you post it on YT you still get paid.
Nowadays people watch 2 Daniel Schiffer videos and they are ready to get paid. Once they finally get a small gig (sending your video to the client cause they don’t have a portfolio as they never practice the style) they realize it’s actually harder than it looks even when they tried copying your videos shot for shot. Then the trend dies 🤷🏾♂️
Daniel I know you don't upload much on UA-cam these days but just wanted to understand after a long period of gap how do you keep making such creative videos, any tips for staying creative even though you are not making videos.
The sigh of relief I breathed when you said that BTS video can be a distraction to film. I've always felt guilty about not documenting my work, but I can't split focus during a tight production schedule. Great video as always.
Totally agreed man but there's a big difference between doing something for free for your own benefit like practicing, learning and portfolio work, and doing free work for people who approached you to work for "exposure". My opinion, if you're going to make a practice video, use a brand so that you can sell it to them, pitch it to them, or demo it, if it works out in the end. But I feel like you should never ever ever make a free video for a client because "we cannot afford you but we love your work and want you to make a video for us" (unless you can can benefit from it with free merch or free ads on their platforms etc, but then technically you are being compensated for your work). Great video like always!
🤜🏿🤛🏿
Nice video!! Really resonates! Re: practice comments
Let’s all congratulate Daniel for not creating a studio setup with the cookie cutter orange light on the left and blue light on the right with some random tube lights laying around like they fell from the ceiling.
I'm very curious about how you come up with shot idea's. I find myself going on youtube to find inspiration. But at the same time I want to be more original and try new shots. I know you made a video on it a while back, just wondering if you still use the same formula now.
Just curious, but what's the main reason for saying *not an official ad* at the end?
Hahah i was totally unaware that the video in the beginning was the video you created, i thought it was an actual ad by youtube
How do you hold cans while having them on a turn table in the air?
say, can you green mask the cans and replace them in post?
Are you using a “mist” filter? Or something in post production? The letters on your hate look dope.
Am from Nigeria..Love your content..Pls make a Udemy course
wow
v nice dear brother god bless you
👏👏👏
I'm a chef with 30 years of cooking experience, but zero experience in being a cameraman or editor. I would love any advice you have if you wanted to audit me!
Are you still using Final Cut or have you tried DaVinci yet?
Hello dear Daniel thank you for your time
Please I buy canon c300 mark ii to start making b roll video what lenses I need thank you so much for this channel ❤
Hi! How do I register as an author on storyblocks ? I have a large portfolio on other video stocks, but it does not allow me to register here...
Is it not enough to just do it for fun because you are passionate about the work? that free creative expression is what paid work stems from. When that goes away, that's when influencers retire.
That looks sick
First comment 🤙🏼
You make them free 'cause this UA-cam channel works as your portfolio to attract big clients
whats that elwood hat from?
The whole lifestyle is a recursive benefit. Spec--> social behind the scenes content --> clients interested
Curious if you've ever had a free video "stolen" by a brand or, otherwise, get an offer from a brand to buy an already created video?
I'm asking because I wonder if it makes sense to watermark your free/spec videos that a brand might take.
Keep in mind it may be as simple as them using the "share" function and distributing your video as user-created content (still without your permission).
So in this particular video, what would you have done differently for the can to remain consistent? I'm curious cause that's a common issue, and you can't always have the same lighting when changing angles and setups
I would start with being more mindful of where the reflections and shadows are on the can. I'd probably change my lighting method to make everything a bit more flat and evenly lit (perhaps using a larger diffusion, closer to the can), that way it's easier to match from shot-to-shot. I would also keep my focal length more consistent in each scene so it's easier to match up the cans and the perspective doesn't drastically change.
@@danielschiffer Makes sense, thanks!
Hola, busco alguien en Colombia que pueda ayudarme con videos de producto para mi e-commerce
bro u should make a course 😢
I just still wonder, even if you put up a bunch of personal projects, as you call them "spec work", on your platforms to show what you can do, then what? I mean how do you get in contact with some brand's marketing companies to show them what you can do to possibly get them to hire you for a job? We cant just rely on the algorithm to drive companies to our platforms to discover us.
How do you go about finding clients and starting that process of conversation to get paid to do a job??
I remembered he said before. You can find the video.
Hello bro, am looking for clothes stores b roll... Please
Does is count if Storyblocks pays you for this video? (but regardless love you content)
