I think this jet is perfect for PVE in a public session. The weapons are definitely good enough for killing the AI if you’re collecting cargo for a business plus VTOL obviously makes landing easier. And the stealth mode is perfect for travelling there and back to your building without being griefed since no one can see you on the map.
Honestly, this jet is really good. Its not too OP to the point where every jet us irrelevant compared to it. Some people dont understand rockstar is trying to make QoL improvements.
Rockstar, seems to be going in a good direction with this game now which is good for the player base :) And yeah this jet looks badass, kinda disappointed with the low dogfighting capabilities but I guess that's left to the A10 warthog to fuck up what the raiju couldn't ;)
I'm a plane fanatic and i just bought the raiju, fought for about 2 hrs it is very op and the hover mode is very much useful for dogfighting, i took down everything from oppressors to other raiju and just absolutely decimated everything, i honestly don't know what else to say.
VTOL on this jet is just soo much greater than on hydra. It's actually very useful both in dogfight and in PVE scenarios. Don't think it would be great against the grounded players, but i might be wrong
If the thing can hover faster than Hydra then the VTOL might actually work in a dogfight sceneario. GTASA(SAMP) hydra sometimes involving its user to rapidly change in-and-out of VTOL to outmaneuver their opponent/do fast Air-to-Ground strike(the trick is heavily used by pros when SAMP were in it's heyday, and youtube still preserves some prime example of it.), which I can see happening on this jet sometime in the future.
This is true. I have been using this during my SAMP dogfighting server days and it is a night and day difference when you're using it against other opponents.
Yes, the autocannons are VERY nice for attacking ground targets - but in my experience their spacing (plus lower rate of fire) makes it very difficult to hit a small aircraft like a helicopter. Smaller helicopter like Buzzards actually fit in between the two cannons, making hitting them while flying very difficult.
True they actually made the jets better for air to air combat rather then air to ground combat so helicopters will have a time to shine I assume the savage will be used alot more
Fun fact: when in hover mode you can roll upside down, while upside down use throttle down to decent towards the ground slowly( yes somehow it slows you down) and land upside down, you can then check inside the weapon bays and see that it carries 2 missiles( 1 for each bay) and 2 fueltanks/bombs(again 1 per bay) perhaps in the future we might be able to drop bombs out of it
They left the Savage’s cannons alone... Do with that info what you will... Wish the F-160 had bombs but it seems the B-11 might straight up be the best plane to fly because of how they nerfed the Hydra and Lazer cannons plus the tracking nerf of the Mosquito we might enter a new age of simply Barrage missile spam for PvP...
The savage, unlike lazer and hydra, is super easy to counter so does it really matter? It handles like an actual airborne tugboat and it needs to be in like aim assist range to hit you. So just auto aim the pilot and you're good lmao

The F-35 is a multi-role aircraft. There's no such thing as an "air to ground superiority" aircraft. You're thinking of a Close Air Support (CAS) aircraft which the U.S. uses the F-15E and A-10 for.

The stealth mode makes it the perfect jet to go against ghost organization jets. The moment they pop it you can go stealth and wait it out. Probably good to give the jet a greenish brown camo cause the moment they loose track of you they’ll fly high looking for you looking down. It’ll be harder to spot you near the ground especially in vtol and not moving much.
After playing with it for a while. I can say this is easily one of the best handling aircraft’s in the game. It turn’s incredibly sharp at high speed and has no issue out turning other dogfighting jets. The manoeuvrability is amazing. And I have no problem getting the upper hand in dogfights.
I think overall, this Raiju is more for the methodical aerial fighter. Instead of an all out and guns blazing lunatic style. I absolutely love this jet. And is a much welcomed addition to my jet collection in the hangar.
Just been playing around with this new jet and really like it, took out a few tryhards on MK2's as they did not see me coming and it seems agile enough to dodge missiles. Also flew a close flyby under some guys lazer and he had no idea i was there till i flew past which was pretty funny, kept it in stealth and i could see him searching around for me but could not keep up or find me haha.
Fun fact, the F-35B, which this is modeled after has no internal canon. And the F-35A which does has a 25mm gatling gun, not two separate guns like in game.
It's Rockstar tradition to mash multiple things together or at least get some aspect of what they are emulating just aggressively wrong. We can't have anything too nice or too real because it breaks the toxic satire vibe they build the world around.
ive found that quickly switching to vtol and back to normal flight can help take sharper turns in dog fights. plus the quick deceleration when going from flight to vtol presents the opportunity to get behind your opponent. i love the plane
Something not mentioned in the video is also that the VTOL mode has superior angle handling compared to the hydra. It can fly upside down (somehow). Just roll left or right and give reverse thrust. You fall slowly but it’s still a fun trick

i stopped playing gtav for a long while and played the legacy ace combat titles in the meanwhile (among other things). coming back now and hearing the ace combat 3 ost playing in the background was a pleasant surprise. i wonder if all the older videos have the ac3 ost in them now
The VTOL feature is extremely useful for dogfights since it doesn't trun well. You just toggle hover mode and turn on your axis to hit the lazer going circles

I know I am late to the party but I just learned this. You can do what I call a super hero landing by flying towards the ground and timing the hover so that you just barely miss the ground. Just remember to come at the ground at less than a 45 degree decline. Also on the raiju I found the best use when using gorilla tactics when facing other players.
So its basically a way better version of the Akula. Since the second you pop out the missile pods on Akula people start ducking and weaving. If you pull out explosive cannons they wont know until they are dead and you are long gone. Still I find GTA unplayable because 90% of the planes are totally useless - fix bomb physics - fix render distance - create more airspace (and more reason to use that airspace) and give planes proper flight envelopes. Then maybe it would be remotely worth the time investment
They should give it longer lock on range if the missiles, or do that for some of the other jets like the hydra or laser since they aren’t gone be overpowered anymore.
I don't think the Lazer or the hydra needed their explosive cannon nerfed with how gempy the lock on missiles were the explosive cannon was there only strength I don't think we are going to see them in lobbies as much now seeing that they are now inferior to every other fighter jet in the game. I also don't think it is very realistic to nerf something that has been in the game for 10 years and now it's suddenly a problem the explosive cannon always took skill to use on these jets anyway 90% of the time when I seen someone using it I got to see them crash into a building lmafo
The stealth mode is great for dogfighting I think once we can master it the raiju will be the go to jet for dogfighting, being able to toggle in and out of stealth mode as fast as you can can easily confuse opponents who are used to staring at their minimap when they cant see you, and when your tail gets hit you can still control vtol mode to some extent, enough in my experience to return fire when the enemies guard is down as they think your already crashing
whiping it out at night is going to suck for the other guy, especially from my own peliminary testing, full throttle fighting wont work, but the idle speed wont have you flattening out on turns, so you wont even be able to see the afterburners until after you dip out, and with that matte black camo shit you may as well be invisible
The new F-160 is the superior dogfighting plane, its VTOL and explosion cannon along with a decent amount of armour makes it an easy pick for dogfighting, it takes a good pilot to spot potential for a new plane

That whole sharp turn thing I actually use to somewhat make the plane go though otherwise tighter bits much more slowly. Like I avoided another f160 player chasing me through the skyscrapers and made and otherwise almost impossible turn relatively easily thanks to the way it jerks itself in whatever direction you want AND slightly slows you down, fantastic plane for me. Also, used the hover mode to make a laser pilot basically overshoot me who tried to do a sort of slow down/stall thing to get back behind me, only to have me turn my hover on and off right away as a break of sorts and just blow him up with the guns. Fantastic plane with lots of gimmicks and potential tricks to discover and master
Me and a group of three other guys hoped in a public server and messed with the people that was randomly killing other players for no reason. Man this plane is a BEAST in my opinion
the VTOL mode makes me wonder if it'd make that kosatka lifting challenge easier,since (at least according to pyre) it handles well,maybe the better handling would mean it'd also make it easier to handle the submarine around
When you consider mid-air vtol acrobatics, this jet should be the new best dogfighter if you you're good at vtol movement, I can especially see how it could confuse assailants with a quick stealth-mode switch while switching to vtol
It’s been so long since I’ve been in a jet in this game. I believe I’ve gotten into my Pyro just for quick travel, but even that has been rare. But I’ll definitely be using the Raiju for some stuff now.
i never understood how that revolver glitched worked, but if i did pull it off i could understand how the CPU do their rapid fire M4s. it has something to do with that glitch and how you pull it off.
I can predict now, the dogfighting strategy against other jets is to engage stealth mode during turning fights, disengaging it right before shooting. As I have found out with the stealth heli, engage stealth and disappear from radar and you're hard to track and kill.
I have to say I'm very impressed with this aircraft so far. It flies very well especially when dodging missiles. The missiles itself have decent tracking and do damage as you'd expect. The cannons are not as powerful as the Lazer and Hydra but they are still very good, which keeps it balanced. All of this not to mention the excellent stealth mode which takes you off the radar at any altitude, meaning you can swoop in and blow up a whole line of cars without anyone having the time to realise what's happening. I think its worth the trade price.
I first enjoyed the F-160 RAIJU with a small side of OPPRESSOR MKII and a sizeable portion of B-11 STRIKEFORCE for texture. As I went in for my first bite, the F-160 RAIJU activated his raider jammer and attempted evasion. I was dining at my favorite spot on the overpass bridge over the junkyard so I was fairly exposed on the chance the F-160 RAIJU's pilot attempted a surprise attack. That is exactly what happened. The F-160 RAIJU flew in from the south but I managed to spot him just before his pilot was in range to use his clunky, inefficient missiles and I took a sizeable bite out of the craft's stomach. I would use the word savory to describe the F-160 RAIJU's taste and the heat from my precise, long range anti-air missiles cooked the plane to perfection. I prefer a nice medium rare and the F-160 RAIJU did not disappoint. The texture had the perfect crunch and paired perfectly with the spicy side of OPPRESOR MKII. I was feeling a bit gluttonous and I ended up eating an additional three F-160 RAIJUs before paying my tab and heading back to the Facility. Overall, I'd give my dining experience four dead pilots out of five.

This is the sucker punch jet. You have the element of surprise as no one will anticipate you, it might not be great in a official dog fight but in free mode you get the first strike you win a high percentage of times especially if the other jet can no longer be controlled anymore.
Something I don't understand is that even if there are bombs in the plane's chamber, they cannot be and are only for decoration, they take away many possibilities of attacking the ground, which is already very difficult due to the nerfing of the machine guns.
Replacement for prenerf death jets, unrivalled movement, good aircraft armor, stealth and mgs that are basically death cannons with a reasonable firerate, you'd think they're garbage until a thermal sweat is camping around buildings popping out of stealth to kill you then go back into stealth and repeat.
Fun fact the f-35 is mostly known for air to ground combat and it’s stealth/ long range capabilities. The f-22 is mostly the one doing the dogfighting
even though the F22 has a lower radar cross section... making it more stealthy...
But the f35 is still good in a dogfight even though neither really get in them because how stealthy they are

The Cassino prep where you must kill a bunch of helicopters all over the map will be a treat with this, better than the depressor.

i stopped playing gtav for a long while and played the legacy ace combat titles in the meanwhile (among other things). coming back now and hearing the ace combat 3 ost playing in the background was a pleasant surprise.

I bought the raiju and it is amazing in flying and hover mode but air to air is kinda hard
Finally, using the Ace Combat 3 OST makes sense (even though the X-35 wasn't in that game)
The VTOL feature is extremely useful for dogfights since it doesn't trun well. You just toggle hover mode and turn on your axis to hit the lazer going circles
VTOL jet friendship ended with Hydra.

Not to mention its just a propaganda piece and russia has no ability to mass produce their already mediocre attempt at a stealth fighter.
I know I am late to the party but I just learned this. You can do what I call a super hero landing by flying towards the ground and timing the hover so that you just barely miss the ground. Just remember to come at the ground at less than a 45 degree decline. Also on the raiju I found the best use when using gorilla tactics when facing other players.
So its basically a way better version of the Akula. Since the second you pop out the missile pods on Akula people start ducking and weaving. If you pull out explosive cannons they wont know until they are dead and you are long gone. Still I find GTA unplayable because 90% of the planes are totally useless - fix bomb physics - fix render distance - create more airspace (and more reason to use that airspace) and give planes proper flight envelopes. Then maybe it would be remotely worth the time investment
They aren't going to make any significant changes to this game anymore. The best you can hope for is them making planes in GTA 6 better.

They should give it longer lock on range if the missiles, or do that for some of the other jets like the hydra or laser since they aren’t gone be overpowered anymore.
Dont use race handling in that jet, use smooth and you avoid that 2:25

I don't think the Lazer or the hydra needed their explosive cannon nerfed with how gempy the lock on missiles were the explosive cannon was there only strength I don't think we are going to see them in lobbies as much now seeing that they are now inferior to every other fighter jet in the game. I also don't think it is very realistic to nerf something that has been in the game for 10 years and now it's suddenly a problem the explosive cannon always took skill to use on these jets anyway 90% of the time when I seen someone using it I got to see them crash into a building lmafo
Lazer and hydra needed a nerf tbh the lazer could literally infinite spawn kill ground targets but the nerf was still too big.
So spamming RC vehicles is fine to rockstar but god forbid anyone getting cheap kills in a jet which is easier to counter when you’re in a fight SMH
The stealth mode is great for dogfighting I think once we can master it the raiju will be the go to jet for dogfighting, being able to toggle in and out of stealth mode as fast as you can can easily confuse opponents who are used to staring at their minimap when they cant see you, and when your tail gets hit you can still control vtol mode to some extent, enough in my experience to return fire when the enemies guard is down as they think your already crashing
whiping it out at night is going to suck for the other guy, especially from my own peliminary testing, full throttle fighting wont work, but the idle speed wont have you flattening out on turns, so you wont even be able to see the afterburners until after you dip out, and with that matte black camo shit you may as well be invisible
The new F-160 is the superior dogfighting plane, its VTOL and explosion cannon along with a decent amount of armour makes it an easy pick for dogfighting, it takes a good pilot to spot potential for a new plane
Nothing can replace my Seabreeze, one of my best planes

Yh i noticed that the plane literally outruns it’s own missiles at full speed above 900feet
That whole sharp turn thing I actually use to somewhat make the plane go though otherwise tighter bits much more slowly. Like I avoided another f160 player chasing me through the skyscrapers and made and otherwise almost impossible turn relatively easily thanks to the way it jerks itself in whatever direction you want AND slightly slows you down, fantastic plane for me.
Also, used the hover mode to make a laser pilot basically overshoot me who tried to do a sort of slow down/stall thing to get back behind me, only to have me turn my hover on and off right away as a break of sorts and just blow him up with the guns. Fantastic plane with lots of gimmicks and potential tricks to discover and master

Me and a group of three other guys hoped in a public server and messed with the people that was randomly killing other players for no reason. Man this plane is a BEAST in my opinion
the VTOL mode makes me wonder if it'd make that kosatka lifting challenge easier,since (at least according to pyre) it handles well,maybe the better handling would mean it'd also make it easier to handle the submarine around
Best thing about this is that the jet is so loud that even when in stealth mode, you can hear it incoming

When you consider mid-air vtol acrobatics, this jet should be the new best dogfighter if you you're good at vtol movement, I can especially see how it could confuse assailants with a quick stealth-mode switch while switching to vtol
It’s been so long since I’ve been in a jet in this game. I believe I’ve gotten into my Pyro just for quick travel, but even that has been rare. But I’ll definitely be using the Raiju for some stuff now.

i never understood how that revolver glitched worked, but if i did pull it off i could understand how the CPU do their rapid fire M4s. it has something to do with that glitch and how you pull it off.

Fun fact the f-35 is mostly use as a long rage, stealth and mostly air to ground jet. While the f-22 is the dogfighting jet
I can predict now, the dogfighting strategy against other jets is to engage stealth mode during turning fights, disengaging it right before shooting. As I have found out with the stealth heli, engage stealth and disappear from radar and you're hard to track and kill.

I have to say I'm very impressed with this aircraft so far. It flies very well especially when dodging missiles. The missiles itself have decent tracking and do damage as you'd expect. The cannons are not as powerful as the Lazer and Hydra but they are still very good, which keeps it balanced. All of this not to mention the excellent stealth mode which takes you off the radar at any altitude, meaning you can swoop in and blow up a whole line of cars without anyone having the time to realise what's happening. I think its worth the trade price.

I first enjoyed the F-160 RAIJU with a small side of OPPRESSOR MKII and a sizeable portion of B-11 STRIKEFORCE for texture. As I went in for my first bite, the F-160 RAIJU activated his raider jammer and attempted evasion. I was dining at my favorite spot on the overpass bridge over the junkyard so I was fairly exposed on the chance the F-160 RAIJU's pilot attempted a surprise attack. That is exactly what happened. The F-160 RAIJU flew in from the south but I managed to spot him just before his pilot was in range to use his clunky, inefficient missiles and I took a sizeable bite out of the craft's stomach. I would use the word savory to describe the F-160 RAIJU's taste and the heat from my precise, long range anti-air missiles cooked the plane to perfection. I prefer a nice medium rare and the F-160 RAIJU did not disappoint. The texture had the perfect crunch and paired perfectly with the spicy side of OPPRESOR MKII. I was feeling a bit gluttonous and I ended up eating an additional three F-160 RAIJUs before paying my tab and heading back to the Facility. Overall, I'd give my dining experience four dead pilots out of five.
I think this jet is perfect for PVE in a public session. Some people can't understand rockstar is trying to make QoL improvements. So it is the stealth mode is secure for travelling there and back to your building.
This is the sucker punch jet. You have the element of surprise as no one will anticipate you, it might not be great in a official dog fight but in free mode you get the first strike you win a high percentage of times especially if the other jet can no longer be controlled anymore.
Something I don't understand is that even if there are bombs in the plane's chamber, they cannot be and are only for decoration, they take away many possibilities of attacking the ground, which is already very difficult due to the nerfing of the machine guns.

Replacement for prenerf death jets, unrivalled movement, good aircraft armor, stealth and mgs that are basically death cannons with a reasonable firerate, you'd think they're garbage until a thermal sweat is camping around buildings popping out of stealth to kill you then go back into stealth and repeat.
