Yep. I have a manufactured home from the late 80's. It has the old style. That thing has been going strong for the last 10 years . Starting to get 4 green flashes . Need to rock the rocker switch to get it to light up again when there are filters in it. I'm gonna pull the blower and clean it and replace the limit and the temp sensor. Great info. Thanks for making this vid
This furnace was installed in my home in 2011. The blower motor had to be replaced in 2016...a few months after the warranty expired, of course. Now the blower motor is overheating all the time (4 flashing green lights) and I haven't been able to get anyone in to fix it. I wish I had never agreed to a new furnace as they old one was incredibly reliable.
Blower motors are typically very reliable if the correct size furnace is installed and the ducting is checked to make sure it doesn't restrict airflow. There could be a problem that with the ducting that needs addressing. Best to find a local contractor to help you. (maybe a different one than the one who installed it)
@lhenderson4635 I had the 4 flash on my Coleman. It was the limit switch. The one next to the fan, but it can be either one. The one I replaced was like $25. The other one is around $18.
Great video I have an older colman then that one it's still working pretty good. But if i wanted to upgrade what would i be lloking at for the unit and installation so i could maybe save up . Thank you
Thank you!! I was trying to find filters on my old Presidential II (1978) & had no luck. The 1" won't fit in the edge... Sooo I really appreciate the info about the filters. I have a grid over mine so it holds it in place BUT the filter material is breaking down so I was looking for replacements. This confirms what the HVAC company near me told me ... that they don't make 'em. LOL
Well done. Good information and well presented. Just bought a Manufactured home with the new style Coleman furnace. Just wish the blower fan was not so loud.
I've worked on those Coleman furnaces for several years, most you don't see anymore in mobile homes in Florida, they come equipped with the Intertherm electric furnaces EB12's or EB15's with that model you are displaying in your video, that's either the Presidential or Presidential 2, it's probably at best an 80,000btu input and 54,000btu output; they are capable of handling a lot of BTU's You mentioned about the fan size being small, if it didn't have an A/C package; which came with the larger blower and motors, those units are capable of upwards to 5tons of cooling, I've upgraded them from standing spark to electronic spark ign. with the smart valves. Those Old furnaces are pretty decent, the motors can be upgraded to ECM motors as the new ones.
@@jmairnheat True indeed, that's mostly why they went away from them, smaller applications such as singlewide mobile homes they use electric ones, if they are downflow which most likely will be Intertherm, those Coleman units are now made by York, which we don't see here in FL unless we are replacing them, even at that; they are replaced by gas packs or heat pumps. The airflow problem has always been in issue, it's just a trunk line stretched the length of the structure, no transitions or nothing, just an aluminum box lol, they stick a 12" piece of flex in them and call it a crossover for Doublewides
I have the presidential 2 in my 2.5 wide. And that is one of my biggest complaints is air balance at the 2 far ends of the home. The middle is fine. Do the bigger fans push the air hard enough to make it to the ends better?
@Mark Kelley80 yes it does, the problem is the trunkline is a straight aluminum duct that runs the length of the mobile home, they are not transitioned; the further you're away from the Airhandler you get less cfm, the larger blowers are for high static applications. It t
I was wondering about the handle gap on the old furnace, which is what I have, and I thought the filter was supposed to cover it. Mine does have a wire frame-like device to hold the filters in. I guess the owners of the furnace you removed never had it or lost it. Hope one day to upgrade as well, great video, love the electricity savings. It is a real pain trying to light my pilot light when it goes out.
Trying get model of new one. I have the newer one and it was working fine. Yesterday it quit. I hear the fan spinning and ignition lights ? Then shuts off! Its 9 degrees here and going lower... 🥶 any advice????? Thank You for your time... 😊
Very informative. I'd love to see more. We're living in a mid 70's 1400 SQ FT DualWide. The heat & a/c comes out of ceiling ducts and returns via floor ducts. May want to replace the heat & a/c system (quite old and still working). Based on research I can see the outside unit, air handler, and vent stack being replaced. The duct work is pretty much sealed above the ceiling and behind the belly band beneath the trailer. Whatever resources / references / suggestions you might have regarding systems like the Coleman would be great as I research my options. BTW CA utility costs are pretty high, so might want to consider options of heat pump vs. gas / electric for heating and cooling. Pretty mild climate where we live. Thanks!
I’ve got a Colman electric heater in my mobile home that for some reason the metal access door started getting warm even if it isn’t running, I think the elements are staying on for some reason... guess it’s time for a new one. It is 17 years old.
Question: I had a 1995 1:07 Coleman AirPro 70kbtu gas unit replaced in 2021 with a Goodman 96% eff unit. The Goodman is using 4X more gas than my old Coleman in the winter (no leaks etc). I have done all research and questioning.. I believe these new units are not what they say they are. Can you tell me why my newer, supposedly better efficiency unit is using more gas? Btw avg. temperature is the same in the last 2 years and temperature settings.
Good information, thanks. I understand it's your job to push new units, but most of us will take dependability over any perceived efficiency any day. No way that new until will be here still working 50 years from now, everything has planned obsolescence designed into it now.
Fundamentally the guts on both units are very similar. From my experience the only downside on the new unit is the plastic doors. Everything else is an improvement. Older units need to be checked annually for safety faults like a cracked heat exchanger
So this video is the right one I was looking for as it's the same heater I have. One problem your video showed nothing inside the box I needed. I'm looking for the ignition switch location to change it.
that older model had a wire that ran all the way across the filter to hold it in that somebody lost. i know because i have the same one. i bet the newer one wont last half as long as that old one will.
I have a 1992 Coleman system and I fashioned a couple of wire coat hangers to hold the filters in place. I use the blue fibre and cut a filter to run the entire length top to bottom.
Thanks for the video. I have a garage furnace that was (I assume) installed when the house was finished in 1990. The furnace is a propane-powered Coleman 70 but there are no filters in it. In trying to find a filter for the thing, I'm measuring 16 inches in the width of the filter housing but I'm not sure of the length because I don't know how far the filter goes down (how far it reaches). Have you any suggestions on getting the proper size filter? Maybe cut to fit?
Coleman is great furnace. I have the "newer" style. Super reliable. Mines going on 25 years. do you have a video or know of one that shows how to change out the heat exchanger on the Coleman counter flow?
Thank you. I was looking for a video about my new furnace. I just discovered they did not replace the flu when they installed my new furnace during an ice storm. Is that dangerous?
Most thermostats will work. It is important to read the Thermostat instructions to verify. In general, I recommend a professional installation to avoid issues.
Thank you for this review. I replaced the old furnace you have there with the new one your talking about. Thing runs great the only thing I notice is I sucks a lot of air from inside my house to the point I can feel the cold air getting sucked from the window and doors! Why is it doing that? My old furnace did not suck air from inside the house. I notice you mention the roof jack i didn’t replace it with my furnace is that the issue? You mention something about how it sucks air from outside from there. My installer said mi jack still looked good. But the jack is for pilot version and not the new??? If you have any issues explanation that can help me out I would gladly appreciate it! FYI it’s the same jack that was installed with the old furnace.
check the crossover duct under the home. It may have come off, or is damaged. When you have that problem it indicates the you have duct leakage on the supply side of the duct system (the ducts that blow air back to the home. )
The roof jack will not cause that problem (see previous reply). what can happen with the roof jack is improper combustion, air fuel mix etc. have a qualified technician inspect it.
I have the old furnace as shown in the video I am not in the money to replacing anything and need to fix it last time I had an issue with the heat 3 green tiks code and the issue was handled by poking a needle in the inducer I belive you called it through to clean out debree I belive and it worked no problem now I have no code it stays solid the fame is lit and the air is ciruclating only at room temp the vent where the inducer is installed is not getting hot although the screen area you look in is still only room temp air out the vents any ideas?
Dear J&M..if you ever check old videos for questions, I recently got one of these installed and he set the blower motor at the highest level to where my house is not actually heating very much..the air is going somewhere..but not warming as it should. It's been very cold and it will cycle for hours trying to get my house up to my setting which is only at 60 degrees. I know what you're thinking, call my furnace guy, right? I have. He doesn't seem to have time to return my calls, lol. I think I know where to adjust the speed but can't get any details off you tube. It's the plastic connector thingie up next to the motor with the multiple wires, right? That's what the furnace door schematic said. My brother has some experience with furnaces but I don't want him to touch it unless he's absolutely sure he knows what he's doing. Sorry so long, your video was very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to make it! Have a great 2021!
it likely has nothing to do with the blower speed. I'd check the crossover duct under the home. It is relatively common for rodents to chew them up or for them to become disconnected completely. Call a different furnace guy if they are not responsive.
Is it possible to add a c-wire to the old Coleman unit as necessary to support a modern digital thermostat? I would love to see a video on that as would a lot of other people.
That's a great video. I have two questions. My furnace is a little older than the one your showing. but are the exhaust chute in the same place in the newer unit? and I'm on ssdi so money is tight what am I looking at for the furnace and the removal and installation of the new one? just to make sure I find an honest repair person in Calif. mine has the A/C unit in the bottom of it but I am sure I can't afford it at this time. Thank You for any help...
The exhausts are similar on most these types of units. If you are local you can call our company to discuss. we service Riverside county, parts of San Bernardino County. (951) 654-3464.
Your "new" furnace is the exact furnace I have in my MH. I am getting an error code (3 light flashes) saying the air switch isn't closing. I have that same exact N/O air switch as you and it is brand new. I suspect my inducer fan isn't working and I wonder if you have a video that might show a way for a homeowner to check that fan is working properly before I spend the $60 on a new one.
I have the newer model gas furnace in my home. It's 23 years old and I've only had to replace the control board once, and a door clip of course. I like the unit overall. It is sized right to keep the house snug in the winter and cool in the summer. The only thing is that it is SO LOUD. The furnace is off the laundry room and we have to raise our voices to converse in the living room. Would reducting to a larger trunk line reduce the back pressure on the fan cabinet and quiet the unit?
Hey guys. Great video. I was wondering if you had any input on what I could do to my existing older unit to make it more energy efficient? Can I upgrade my blower? I know I can upgrade my outside A/C unit and the inside A/C Parts if I'm not mistaken. Any advice would be great.
you can upgrade the blower, but that probably won't be worth the $. Make sure everything is working the best it can with regular maintenance by a pro. Keeping everything clean is the most important thing, after that, capacitors, refrigerant charge etc. will help. When you replace the system, make sure it is sized properly, and get the best unit you can afford.
@@jmairnheat My 410 was low from install many years. Needed 12 oz . I updated blower to 4 speed 3/4 HP but after new duct system and getting everything correct, the two lowest speed work best
Can you tell me what the little round metal filter thing in the top left is on the old one? It has a flap behind it. Is it supposed to be doing something?
What type of metal are they using for the heat exchangers now? I remember Coleman hear exchangers being notorious for cracking, then they added a heat shield which just deflected the flames into a different spot which caused it to crack there. Hopefully they fixed this problem
I have the old one for two years I had to reset the furnace. Mostly at night. And when its at its coldest oitside. Now it is day or night at random weather. Today reset it twice. Off again. Now will not reset at all.Any ideas how to fix it and what is wrong. Tks. Of course it's in the 30s out now.
Just upgraded from old coleman to new, and the new one is MUCH LOUDER!! After i expressed concern, the installer turned the motor speed down to what he said was the "lowest setting "but he said there's a risk of it overheating and shutting off… Is this true?? I'm just wondering if I got a defective heater?
So the answer is "IT DEPENDS" Unfortunately there is no way for me to tell you 100% one way or the other. In general, if it overheats, it will shut off. Keep your filters clean, and service the furnace regularly. If the furnace does not maintain temperatures contact your contractor. But for sure, the new furnaces tend to be louder.
Hi Michael. Great question. Static pressure is important on all systems, one thing we have discovered is that most systems are oversized and when properly sized less air flow is required and the static pressure is less of an issue. Less airflow = lower static when the duct is the same size. In some cases we have to increase the crossover duct. sometimes there is nothing you can do for a reasonable cost. When the duct is really bad I recommend ductless system.
The instructions should be on the furnace. Modern furnaces do not have a pilot, so you do not need to light them manually. It really just depends on the age of the furnace.
We have a old Coleman on our mobile home our furnace is 39 years old and still working. I asked a repair man how much longer would our furnace last ? He said yesterday. Should we get a new furnace ? Is our old furnace still safe to use ?
My 1978 mobile home furnace has a separate closet access outside and it’s a updraft into the roof cavity-attic duct work . Extremely quiet but very difficult and expensive to upgrade the duct work .
We see a lot of those. The ducting in the attic is basically impossible to upgrade/replace. We see issues with air flow to the opposite corners of the home. For the money, ductless is a better option.
We have an old Coleman Presidential furnace in our old 1972 Holly Park mobile home, that since last fall when we replaced the thermostat has been cycling too often to suit me. lol It will run for about 5 mins, getting the house up to the right temp, then cycle off, then in about 5 min. it will cycle back on again. Is this normal? We have owned this mobile home for about 19 yrs and this is really the first problem we have had with this furnace. It really keeps the house warm and I am not looking to replace it unless it is a necessity. Could it be the new thermostat is faulty? Or am I just nuts for worrying about something that does keep the house warm, but seems to be on too often? Thanks for this video, and I am learning here as I go. UA-cam is a great thing, it allows most people to know how to fix things when they need fixed or help in deciding what to do about a problem. I am now a subscriber, as I like to learn to fix things by myself, and I do know when to call in a pro when I am out of my comfort zone too.
New digital controls have different heat-anticipation settings. Depending on the control, there may be nothing you can do. Contact the installer or manufacturer of the control. Additionally, if you also updated the windows with dual pane, or some other energy efficient upgrade, the old furnace may be too large for the home, which can also cause that.
@@jmairnheat Thank You for your quick reply. We personally installed the new thermostat, no other upgrades to the home. It isn't a digital one but the old type, spin the dial to the number you want. lol I really do thank you for your input. I figure it is the "nature of the beast" and like you said, we may have to live with it? So good of you to try to offer information to help!!!!
mine has done that since new and ts about 10 years old. Im in Ohio and live in an older mobile home. When it gets down to the single digits forget about it thing might as well never turn off. Drives me nuts but dosent seem to hurt it.
Just watched the video. I have the new Coleman and just purchased this home. Can you tell me if my filter arrow should aim toward the unit or toward the plastic door?
I had a power surge and it blew my furnace, I took off the cover and found that the board had been fried, so I bought a new board and replaced it, however the darn furnace won't come on. DEAD. What do I do next, other than call a repair man?
Hi Matthew Hi I purchased an mobile home a few years ago an completely remodeled the intire thing an only thing I kept was the furnace because it was new it looks to be the same Coleman as the new one in your video, an was curious how much I would be looking at in adding AC coil an condenser To the unit an was curious what brand or type of ac /coil kits you would recommend ? from number I ran shows I need 15k cooling An what sorta cost estimate would it be parts / install I already ran power outside for a condenser
@@jmairnheat thanks four reply , H vac companies were scheduled out a ways so I purchased a pre charged Revolv 2.5 ton 14 seer mobile home unit with a 3 ton coil an 20 ft line sets. With accucharge quick connections . Pretty easy install besides one line th big one was a struggle to connect to the coil took a bit of muscle an anger lol. But it's working great was going to do mini splits but after seeing your video figured central air would be best an cost less than having several mini split head units an would take up no room inside the house
Does anyone know, is it ok to use pleated filters for this newer Coleman furnace? What would be the highest merv rating you can use without overworking the blower motor?
@@jmairnheat I’m considering a mini split unit to possibly a central air unit. DGAA077BDTA appears to be a Colman unit installed 2008 in my 16x70 mobile home of 1,150 square feet. I have had trouble educating myself on if a central air unit can be installed under this Colman furnace- per Redit the whole furnace needs to come out of the closet for say. Then a coil has to be installed- then need to confirm my electric panel will be able to have the circuit added Basically I’m wondering what direction to go would raither have central air than the mini split can this be done and what am I researching for? Would like to be prepared for the cost. So far a mini split looks like 1,500 For central need coil and condenser per redit the coil is 300.00 and not sure on the condenser have not gotten that far I’m guessing a 3-4 ton?
I find it ironic how practically every gas furnace went to using draft inducer motors. When my grandparents first moved onto their farm in the 1970's, they had 2 adjacent mobile homes. The other was for a field hand, which my parents would by a couple of years later. Our mobile home was a 1973 Suncrest with a Coleman natural draft furnace. The burner was round and torch-like. The flames would rise upward and would split around a "cap". My grandparent's mobile home was a 1956 Richardson with a Coleman furnace that used a draft inducer. It was silver with a latch handle at the very time. The burner was round and looked like a ring of torpedoes firing inward. I was only 9 when my parents sold their mobile home and built their new house. And 15 when my grandparents had to get a new Coleman/Evcon furnace, which proved problematic and would fight them through their last decade of living in that mobile home. I had never seen another furnace with a burner like ours or like their first one. But it's strange to me that theirs had a draft inducer and ours had a natural draft. It's almost as if they improved the technology to where a mobile home furnace wouldn't need a draft inducer. But only for a short period of time as all the energy efficient designs of modern furnaces require them. Is there a specific name to describe the styles of burners I'm talking about?
Is it possible that the older mobile home may have had a natural draft furnace but may have had to be replaced sometime before you moved in to the farm and did the draft inducer furnace have a pilot light or did it use electronic ignition
I just moved into my home and I have a Nortek MG2R furnace. I see the filter on the door (it's the cut to size rather than a standard), but there is also a filter shoved in next to the blower motor on the right side. Is that supposed to be there? Also, I've seen photos of having to replace the black material on the sides of the blower motor. Is that something I need to do? My furnace in my old home was standard, so the filter slipped into a slot near the floor (simple). This is all new to me and I can't seem to find ANY information online (or in the manuals) about the filters, how many there are, where they should be, and replacing them. Any advice would be appreciated as your video has the most info I've seen so far. Thank you
You just need the filters in the door. They should not be loose fitting. If you need a larger size than what is there that is fine. The goal is just to have a filter that fits and doesn't come loose.
I’m just installed the new Coleman - the same as you are comparing. Can you please tell me how to adjust the heater fan speed? The factory setting is way too high and super loud.
I've been trying to find replacement metal brackets for the plastic door that the door latches clip into. Several homes in our community we manage are missing the brackets. They tend to break off of the door then the resident throws them away!
online ordering is tough, I think the part number is S1-02118364000 (Male side). Best to contact a local contractor to have them order them for you. They are not expensive. Female is S1-02118365000... but don't take my word for it.
Thank you for this great video! I'd love to see a quick maintenance checklist for the many renters who want to make the most of the older models that aren't going to get replaced. For instance, should the scruffy filters be taped or held in place with strong magnets somehow, or can a newer filter be jimmied to fit, or would a newer filter be a problem in an older machine? Should the filters be cleaned with water or a vacuum, and how often? Should the inside of the unit be lightly vacuumed (with the power to the unit cut, of course) to reduce the amount of dust/lint that gets by the filters? Thanks!!!
I have a 1300 1400 sq foot modular home in Illinois. What size furnace and ac do you recommend?? It’s a downflow and I want to buy a furnace with a coil under it and precharged lines.. Any recommendations??? It’s a 70s doublewide basicalky that I turned into a nice home,, insulated well dry walled it,, pitched roof added to it .
We bought the older version to use in our garage. The old one vents out the bottom. Can we re-vent it to blow out the side? Really hate to have to put it on a platform and run the ductwork out the bottom. Thanks.
I have a weird question I guess.. My Coleman Evcon electric furnace has cold air coming from the closet room that the furnace is in when my AC is on in the summertime. Right now I put a hanging temp reader in this closet and its reading 54 degrees while my house is at 72-74 degrees. The room is a little bigger than the furnace itself. Is that normal? the trailer is a 1999 model.
there is likely a cooling coil attached to the electric furnace, on some you can see it easily, it looks like the letter A on top of the furnace. You might have leakage or air bypassing the furnace somehow and recirculating in the closet. Not normal, but also probably not a huge problem. It really depends on the circumstances. I recommend you have a service done, do some maintenance on you system and have the guy check it out while he is there.
You should be able to purchase them through your local contractor. If you are in the socal area (riverside, san bernardino) give us a call (951) 654-3464.
These are for heating the air in the home. Your water heater is a separate appliance. The instructions for changing the water temp should be on the label of the water heater.
I upgraded this last fall when my old furnace broke. But my new one is SOOO LOUD!! It is extremely annoying, especially in a mobile home where you don't have a separate furnace room. Is there any way to help this on the newer models? Maybe a video on how to turn heating blower speed down? Or will that interfere with the electronics? Help please!!
Same here mine is so loud, and the force of the air out of the ducts is almost “cooling” the heat, my Hvac tech said its because the ducts are to small and thats why the motor runs on high all the time.... i HATE it
I went from electric to gas. The new gas has blower on top pushing air down to the existing ducking. My question. Is that why it doesn't heat as well? The AC can't lower the temp either. The new furnace has been a complete wast of money.
How long ago did you have it installed? And was it inspected? Maybe it was installed incorrectly, or maybe your thermostat isn’t calling for heat/cool. There’s a couple of things that could be going wrong, but without seeing it I could let tell you.
Inducer motors are pretty straight forward. Just make sure your gaskets are intact and remove the power before sticking your fingers in. This is not a common thing for DIYers. Find a good local contractor.
Hello, I am having trouble with my furnace and it is exactly the same as the old model in your video, a technician came earlier and without even opening it told me that it was the heat exchanger that I had to replace the whole unit, and I checked the website and the heat exchanger has lifetime warranty I just wanted to know the model on your furnace. Thank you in advance
Lifetime to the original owner is usually how that goes. So unless you purchased the home new, or the furnace new, you are probably out of luck on that. You might be able to replace just the heat-exchanger, but honestly, if it has gone bad, I'd replace the whole furnace.
So I'm trying to heat a fairly large shed would using a mobile home furnace be a good option and can I use tanked gas with one and how long will it last
Depending on the square footage... it’s probably better to install a ductless mini split. Can do both heating and cooling, and without ducting. They usually go for like 3-6k My company sells them, but we sell them for like 8-12k
@@jmairnheat than you for getting back to me. Turned out our issue was the chimney pipe was completely rotted causing our pilot light to keep going out.
Can you help me. I live in a mobile home and the furnace has a name on it called international. Do you know what size that I would need? cause it takes 2. Plus it is set up different. Can I send you a pic what it looks like?
The instructions should be on the furnace. Generally speaking, you should make sure the gas is turned on, and the valve is set to "pilot" You will need to hold down the pilot button, while lighting the pilot through the access door using a long stick lighter or match. after about 60 seconds, after the pilot is lit, you can release the pilot button and turn the valve to "on" . If that doesn't work you may need to call a service company in your area. If we are in your area, please visit our website www.jmairnheat.com

the new FER Compliant furnaces no longer support 5 tons of cooling. Even at 4 tons, the airflow is very poor.
It t
Lucky me, i am in Hemet, will be calling you guys soon, had a fire, not from the old coleman, that worked perfect since 1963
Awesome!
Ha,ha. We have a '65 unknown brand ....Tee in N.M.
Thanks!
Heat pumps are a good option. We replace many manufactured home systems with Ductless Mini-Split Heat pumps.
They are great.
You are a good teacher!
Hey thank you. I appreciate that.
you need to do a video on the electric version of these furnaces.
unfortunately we don't see many of them in our area. But we are looking at doing heat pump systems.
I have an electric system. 😭
@@nikkilovejoy0420 I do too... and being an electrical handyman, I can service my own equipment.... at least the electrical part of it....
that older model had a wire that ran all the way across the filter to hold it in that somebody lost. i know because i have the same one. i bet the newer one wont last half as long as that old one will.
Same here, nothing's made to last anymore. And correct, there's supposed to be some wire bales holding the filters in on the old one.
I have a 1992 Coleman system and I fashioned a couple of wire coat hangers to hold the filters in place. I use the blue fibre and cut a filter to run the entire length top to bottom.
you say you can get replacements for the new plastic cover, where can I find the parts, I can't find them. Thanks for the video, very well done.
Great info, except which way is air flow for proper filter placement? Thank you!
I have an older coleman 7655 856 just like that. Any troubleshooting tips for a short cycling blower motor while burner is active?
I recommend hiring a professional.
throw parts at it, relays, limits all in cost is peanuts
Thank you. I was looking for a video about my new furnace. I just discovered they did not replace the flu when they installed my new furnace during an ice storm. Is that dangerous?
Can you use a regular house thermostat on these Coleman mobile home heaters? Thank u
Most thermostats will work. It is important to read the Thermostat instructions to verify.
In general, I recommend a professional installation to avoid issues.
On the newer Coleman furnace you're showing, is there a way to install a summer switch? So the blower can circulate the air
Is it possible to add a c-wire to the old Coleman unit as necessary
to support a modern digital thermostat?
Due you have a video on cleaning/tuning up the newer model? As in cleaning the burners etc?
It is on my list
How much is that new unit plus installations coz i have the same Coleman similar to the one you have in the video
Would reducting to a larger trunk line reduce the back pressure on the fan cabinet and quiet the unit?
wish he answered you. about to buy a 2005 home with a original unit so about 18yo. I agree that it is LOUD :(
Fun to watch video. Very informative. A real professional.
Thanks Ralph.
Is it supposed to be doing something?
thanks for the info, took me 4 days to find your video.
What brand/model do you recommend if replacing one exactly like the one displayed. Very old from 70s
What type of metal are they using for the heat exchangers now? I remember Coleman hear exchangers being notorious for cracking, then they added a heat shield which just deflected the flames into a different spot which caused it to crack there. Hopefully they fixed this problem
Aluminized Steel.
Would these furnaces work correctly with MILLER split system ac units or do they have to be a Coleman/Evcon product to prevent equipment failures
It's true.
Imagine the airflow is your radiator fluid if you have less fluid your car motor will begin to overheat.
So the answer is "IT DEPENDS"
Unfortunately there is no way for me to tell you 100% one way or the other. In general, if it overheats, it will shut off. Keep your filters clean, and service the furnace regularly. If the furnace does not maintain temperatures contact your contractor.
But for sure, the new furnaces tend to be louder.
I have the new model shown in video. It is not loud and ours is gas heat. Better find out whats wrong while still under warranty.
Question?...Since mobile home duct systems are smaller ...will static pressure be an issue?...Thank you for the video
J & M Air Conditioning & Heating ductless system how does that work??

Can you replace the whole door on the new Coleman model? Mine cracked in the middle & doesn't sit well in the grooves.
Yes, a local contractor should be able to order them for you.
On new furnace how is iducer motor replaced?
I learned alot about my new furnace, I have a question how do I light my furnace, if you would be so kind to tell me how.
Have a safety inspection performed, by a qualified contractor.
So what kind of filter would fit in the tan colored furnace on the right since those blue ones don't stay in place?
My 1978 mobile home furnace has a separate closet access outside and it’s a updraft into the roof cavity-attic duct work . Extremely quiet but very difficult and expensive to upgrade the duct work .
We see a lot of those. The ducting in the attic is basically impossible to upgrade/replace. We see issues with air flow to the opposite corners of the home. For the money, ductless is a better option.
We have an old Coleman Presidential furnace in our old 1972 Holly Park mobile home, that since last fall when we replaced the thermostat has been cycling too often to suit me. lol
It will run for about 5 mins, getting the house up to the right temp, then cycle off, then in about 5 min. it will cycle back on again.

Can you convert the old pilot light system with an automatic system ,on an old furnace. Coleman 7700B?
@@noneofyourbusiness8092 No. The pilot maintains the draft in the flue. Without the pilot you will need an induced draft. Do not try to do this.
Just watched the video. I have the new Coleman and just purchased this home. Can you tell me if my filter arrow should aim toward the unit or toward the plastic door?
toward the inside of the unit, not toward the door.
Can you please tell me what size wire to run from the breaker box to the electric furnace? It is heat only
Will the Blend air hook up to new one?
I had a power surge and it blew my furnace, I took off the cover and found that the board had been fried, so I bought a new board and replaced it, however the darn furnace won't come on. DEAD. What do I do next, other than call a repair man?
A power surge has the tendency to fry other circuit boards as well, have you checked the thermostat?
I'd like to know the outcome of this. Can you report back to us?
I was told to put surge protectors on everything now days. Washer, dryer and furnace.
Hi Matthew
Hi I purchased an mobile home a few years ago an completely remodeled the intire thing an only thing I kept was the furnace because it was new it looks to be the same Coleman as the new one in your video, an was curious how much I would be looking at in adding AC coil an condenser To the unit an was curious what brand or type of ac /coil kits you would recommend ? from number I ran shows I need 15k cooling
An what sorta cost estimate would it be parts / install I already ran power outside for a condenser
I recommend talking to a local Heating and cooling contractor. They can provide the expertise you need for your area.

Then a coil has to be installed- then need to confirm my electric panel will be able to have the circuit added
Basically I’m wondering what direction to go would raither have central air than the mini split can this be done and what am I researching for? Would like to be prepared for the cost.
So far a mini split looks like 1,500
For central need coil and condenser per redit the coil is 300.00 and not sure on the condenser have not gotten that far I’m guessing a 3-4 ton?
Yep it's loud but don't mess with the fan speed or yo will cause other problems.
Just drill it out and use small washers and screws. But if they had tossed them out when they broke off, charge them for them.
What filters do you use for the older furnace? It is 19.5x37 total.
a standard 20 x 36 will probably fit. But most people use the washable cut-to-size media you can buy at your local big box store.
Thanks!!!
Thanks for the feedback. Maybe we can get that done. We have a lot of ideas for videos we think people need to see.
Find a local contractor that performs a "Manual J Load Calculation" they will be able to guide you.
I have a question about the newest coleman furnace, because I have the same one.If you have time.
what is the question?
Recently got the new one but feel like is too loud is that normal??
We bought the older version to use in our garage.
The old one vents out the bottom. Can we re-vent it to blow out the side?
Really hate to have to put it on a platform and run the ductwork out the bottom.
Thanks.
If it has the coil compartment, you can just remove the door to the coil and let it blow out the front. If it doesn't than no.
Where would be the best and quickest place to buy both door panels for newer one?
Your local HVAC Contractor should be able to source those parts for you.
where can I buy the clips for the new furnace door...Mine broke

Where I the location for the air filter?
Filter are mounted in the top door.
The new coleman blowers are not bigger, they just don't mount as far back. Same goddamn junk
nordine heat pump good or bad
How do I make my water hotter? I’m living in a trailer home with the new furnace showed in this video
You should discuss options with your contractor. Sometimes nothing can be done. Depends on a few variables
Best option is to contact a HVAC contractor and see if there is a relocation option for the furnace .
Same here mine is so loud, and the force of the air out of the ducts is almost “cooling” the heat, my Hvac tech said its because the ducts are to small and thats why the motor runs on high all the time.... i HATE it
Nice job of explaining the process w/o being condescending. T.u.
Thank you for watching.
How would you replace The Inducer Motor on the Coleman 56,000BTU furnace any video ?
Inducer motors are pretty straight forward. Just make sure your gaskets are intact and remove the power before sticking your fingers in. This is not a common thing for DIYers. Find a good local contractor.
I have a old "coleman evcon presidential" 95,000 btu input 75,000 output gas furnace. What would be a modern up-to-date replacement?
DGAA090 OR DGAX090 in CA, but your contractor should be selecting the equipment on your behalf, that is what you pay them to do.
Where do you get those plastic clips? I had my vents cleaned and the guys broke two of them on my new furnace.
You can order them either from a contractor or online. Call the manufacture for part numbers.
I have the same model as the old unit what is the model of the new unit your showing there?
DGAA, but the current gen is the DGAX
I turn my gas off in warm weather or when using ac
So I'm trying to heat a fairly large shed would using a mobile home furnace be a good option and can I use tanked gas with one and how long will it last
Depending on the square footage... it’s probably better to install a ductless mini split. Can do both heating and cooling, and without ducting.
They usually go for like 3-6k

So where do furnace filters go on the old model? Just in the door? Or is there another location?
Just the door.

Can you help me. I live in a mobile home and the furnace has a name on it called international. Do you know what size that I would need? cause it takes 2. Plus it is set up different. Can I send you a pic what it looks like?
The best thing is to find a good local HVAC contractor. If you are in the Riverside County, CA area give us a call.
Can I run this unit without gas for just A/C?
Yes.
Is that new furnace your showing is it a single stage or a two-stage?
These both offer single stage heating only. The new furnace does have the additional functions for 2 stage cooling applications however.
How do you light the older furnace so we can get our heater going?
The instructions should be on the furnace. Generally speaking, you should make sure the gas is turned on, and the valve is set to "pilot" You will need to hold down the pilot button, while lighting the pilot through the access door using a long stick lighter or match. after about 60 seconds, after the pilot is lit, you can release the pilot button and turn the valve to "on" . If that doesn't work you may need to call a service company in your area. If we are in your area, please visit our website www.jmairnheat.com
