I eat a vegan plant based diet and her advice sounds very scary to me. I would like to see her talk/debate Dr Gregor, McDougal, Neil Bernard, they would educate her. Her not needing to poop is weird. And then she exaggerates that you eat fiber you need to poop every 5 minutes. No just once a day, like almost all animals do. Do not drink cows milk ever, milk is for babies and it kills millions of baby boy calf’s every day.
Took the hard carnivore road eliminating carbs and alcohol at the same time … I am 78 and reached my 20 year old weight in 3 months … by sticking to the same foods week in and week out my weight doesn't vary by more than 100grams a week … the absence of various aches and pains that had accumultated over the years is a revelation … just started exercising with resistance bands and feel stronger already… this is reversal of aging in real time !!
Nice Michael!!! Consistently eating the same foods allows for food rotation. I never have expired food that needs to be thrown out any more…Cha Ching$$$
Your words reinforce my will. I'm 64 and doing what you are. I have mildly high BP and am hypothyroid. It would be fantastic if I could get off those meds -- I'd stop going to the doctor, who has been hounding me about high cholesterol and the need to eat low fat and more carbs.
I was born in 1958 and have been on a low-carb diet for the past 15 years. In recent years, I have been more strict. Wow, it's amazing. I am completely healthy and without ailments. Never hungry or craving something sweet. Eat full-fat food with meat and fish, always homemade. Today I weigh just as much as I did in 1980 and then I was fit after my military service. This is the best thing that has happened to me and I am completely healthy. Now I'm going to dance rock and roll until my 100th birthday.
@@joanneclark8256 I live in Sweden so we have a very high standard of food regardless of whether it's organic. I eat bacon and eggs for breakfast. Otherwise, meat, pork, fish, chicken etc together with usually cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage and maybe some carrot. Never rice or pasta... but sometimes an ordinary potato. I make sauce with cream as a base. Then there will be homemade kefir and some nuts and coccos flakes. The best part is that you don't get hungry from this food. And some cheese as snacs.
In 2013 I was invited on a cruise and needed to loose weight to fit in my old gala dresses. I had six weeks to do this. I found Zoë, I immediately stopped most of all carbs and fitted in my gala dresses on time. On the cruise I kept loosing weight despite or maybe with the help of choice of all the good food. I lost 12 kilos (26 lbs) in all. I still have that same weight 51 kilos, am 87 years, still running around with no ailments whatsoever…. No medications or vaccinations…. I still travel a lot and have a piece of Gouda cheese with me just in case . But it’s so relaxing to never have to think “ I have to eat!” You are my hero Zoë!
Absolutly fantastic intervju! She is 100% on everything! I can tell you the main reason whay this guidelines won't change. 1.The colesterol hypothesis 2. and that fat will increase the LDL levels. The LDL levels must be brought down eigther with lowering saturated fat intake or with statins. This has been going on for 60 years, building up a trllion dollar industri, plus when will humans admit that they have straight out lied for 60 years. (ain't gonna happen) There you have the answer!
She is 100% wrong about raw dairy . Say it slowly ..... 100% wrong . As a former dairy tanker driver , I can tell you having just missed getting tuberculosis twice . SHE IS WRONG .
She's not wrong about raw milk. That milk should never have been in your tanker ti begin with. We should be going to the farm and buying it from the small, local, organic, 100% grass fed farm.
I had to quit all veggies grain seed and nuts to heal Rheumatoid arthritis. It worked. I already was off ALL processed foods and seed oils etc. Now on carnivore almost 2 yrs. Everything is healing! Eyes(no reading glasses needed anymore!) sebaceous cysts went away. IBS GONE gingivitis healed and receded gums grew back!! And more❤

I'm in America. I don't drink milk often because it makes me congested. I bought some milk at an Amish store once; which didn't cause any issue, so I drank a second pint. Turned out it was marked as A2A2 milk. Upon a little search I found out A2A2 is a hormone that has been bred out of most cows in America.....that is so sad. That was the best milk.

My rule of thumb is if you're still feeling shitty or not losing weight, cut carbs until you find the threshold that will start healing. Sometimes losing weight is your body's last priority so if you feel good, then you're on the right path. The weight will come off when your body feels safe/inflammation is gone. But always eat until you're full. Always. And prioritize fatty meat, especially red meat.
@@joanneclark8256 Red meat is usually ruminant animals. They have a much better digestive system so they don't have as much toxins in them as chicken and pork do. Also red meat has more iron in it and is more closely related to what we evolved eating, like fatty mammoth. People with auto-immune diseases do better on red meat from what I've read.
Red meat has been scientifically linked to some forms of colorectal cancers, and coronary heart disease- that’s why this whole proposition from Jesse is quite ludicrous
@@fo8426 Look into the studies carefully. Is it red meat or pieces of meat with bread for example. We've been eating red meat since the dawn of time. You'd better have some damn strong evidence.
@@fo8426yes, linked by epidemiological studies which don’t account for other factors. The weakest type of study. Still yet to find a randomised double blind trial to show any association and they’ve been trying since the 60’s.
10 days it took me - to get over that massive tiredness. I didn't get flu like feelings. Instead, I was absolutely shattered for days because I went all in from the first day. I went out and bought £300 worth of meat and stocked the freezer up. Before that I was a huge sugar monster. I've always had a sweet tooth but now - my god I feel absolutely awesome. I've never been overweight either, I'm purely doing this to sharpen up and feel better. It works! Bacon and eggs for breakfast every day, 6 rashers and 6 eggs, then steak/burgers/fish/chicken, whatever I feel like for the rest of the day (if I'm hungry). I don't snack anymore and I'm not even tempted. I'm smashing the gym more than I've ever done and I feel strong. I can't recommend this low-carb diet enough.

Went carnivore years ago from keto but just out of boredom I thought I'd give myself a few carbs for a change. It was just a couple of slices of bread and a banana a few times a week. What a big mistake that was. The change in me was astonishing and I learned my lesson.
If you wanted to add a few carbs, why didn’t you try something like an avocado a day, some raw milk, an ounce of macadamia nuts? Just a few examples of foods that have excellent nutritional value and might not even knock you out of ketosis? You opted to just randomly add 80g of carbs to your carnivore diet and your shocked you saw negative effects?
@@sugreeva7 Banana is the only fruit that doesn't seriously affect my body. I can't eat avocado and I love my cream. Raw milk isn't available where I live. Anyway, it only lasted a couple of weeks, I learned my lesson.
Most wonderful interview that I will be encouraging people to watch left, right and centre. I've been a UK carnivore and intermittent faster with periodic extended fasts (3-7 days) since Jan 2023 - I had a starting weight of 21st/294lbs/134kg). It has completely changed my life - off all my meds and from not being able to walk more than 20 yds for pain and breathlessness, I will be walking 100km of the Camino in Sept. So good to hear an enlightened UK doctor's perspective on UK dairy, thank you. I feel so liberated. I had no idea of the differences between the US dairy industry compared to that of Britain which doubtless explains the anti-fluid diary attitude of most US Carnivores. THANK YOU
Thank you, went keto Jan 2023. I was a sugar addict..... no more. I beat that addiction. I was diagnosed with CLL. chronic lymphocytic leukemia in 2016. I have always been slender, 115LB, worked out, ran 10k, never ever sick!. Now due to the CLL, I am 94LB , 5'5". How do I gain weight to save my body strength? I try to exercise at gym, but the inflammation from the CLL IS TRYING TO TAKE ME DOWN. @ 70 yrs old I decided to go to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida to address my CLL. My husband & I cook fresh, no processed crap. Good luck to all.

I too feel guilty for drinking milk. Zoe makes me feel better. I eat mostly meat based and without dairy I would lose weight and don’t need to. So many say dairy is bad. Where I live you can’t get raw milk and the A2 in the grocery stores is ultra pasteurized but I enjoy it though expensive 😢

As far as fasting goes. I am retired so time is not really important. So is what I do is I stop eating around 5 o’clock in the evening and then I won’t eat again for 18 hours later in which is 11 AM the next day. And many days it’s sometime after noon. And even then I’m not really that hungry. I’ve been doing this for five months now and lost 40 pounds. I weighed from 220 pounds to 180 and basically never really feeling that hungry. I am probably 90 to 95% carnivore and I don’t see it being a problem at all. .
You shouldn't fast that long. You're risking muscle loss. Especially the older you get. You need more protein, more consistency. Some of that weight loss is likely muscle loss too.
I'm 51 this past March. I eat almost the same pattern as you. 6:00 p.m. and then at 12:00 the next day. Depending on my activity level, sometimes 1 meal is all I need. Zero carb/sugar cravings. I'm not a weight room guy, though. I'm an avid back country hiker/backpacker. Carnivore and fasting are really compatible with endurance or even strength endurance activities. For me, this can mean carrying anywhere from 20lbs, up to 80lbs(if supply cashes/drops aren't an option. It's like I'm on cruise control. I have no idea how Carnivore translates in the gym, with traditional strength training.
She is telling the truth, i am over 40 and now only eat mostly meat,fats and eggs and i look better than when i was 20. I am ripped and never hungry. I also always skip breakfast and only eat 2 meals a day one small and one large.

10 years ago I lost 3 stone simply by cutting out anything processed, so that I knew exactly what I was eating, and I still do this and have kept it off no problem. It has to become a lifestyle choice, I just don't want to put rubbish into my body. I'm now mainly carnivore, eating twice a day, and have loads of energy.
Great interview, thank you. Fascinating stuff. Regarding dairy - I'm white, fully European, and I've always adored dairy, but recently I tried cutting it out, and instantly my periods become lighter and pain free. I had dairy again over the weekend, and my period this time was painful and heavy, just like it was all my menstruating years before cutting dairy out. Dairy might have affected me in other ways, such as anxiety/depression, but I'm not sure. However, it most definitely had a horrible effect on my cycle.

After years of trying different diets i finally went cold turkey ! In 3 months i am back to the wieght of my 30,s . Still going strong and feeling great about life ! full of life and energy and never hungry. all at 76 but feel 56 ?

The guest makes very good points and is spot on for the 99% of people who are physically inactive. For the 1% of very active people who do intense daily workouts that burn through 600+ calories of glycogen every day, carbs are a necessity. During the hour following the workout, rice and potatoes are perhaps the best carbs you can eat. They are high glucose and low fructose. The 1% need to manage their glycogen deficit quickly, within the first hour after exercise, and without overloading fructose. 3 hours after their workouts, the 1%-ers become like everyone else, and can heed the advice of Dr. Harcombe and avoid most carbs.
Rice and potatoes are filled with lectins. Sweet potato has oxalates. There are cooking techniques to remove lectins but a simple approach is not always going to work.
I have four scrambled eggs with an avocado at 10.30 then at 5pm chicken breast,or steak with veg and a sweet potato and that's it for the day,no snacking during the day, I'm 53 year old man very lean and toned
And who wants to eliminate their obligations ( Social Security in the US, comparable programs in UK, Australia etc) if they can eliminate the elderly quicker ( while making money for companies who are big time donors, BigPharma and BigFood), maybe no one will realize they’ve stolen from those funds.

My concern is about the fiber. I am hearing from well respected MD’s in the current research community (Like Dr. Robert Lustig) that your gut microbiome needs the insoluble fiber in order to eat and thrive, and in the absence of fiber, your own gut microbiome will start to eat away at your mucosal layer and cause/contribute to leaky gut. If anyone really knows the answer to this, please let me know!
I looked this up a couple of days ago "Does carnivore affect your gut biome" It certainly can. The one thing that jumped out at me was how you can expect a smaller diversity of microbes
There was a recent ketovore UA-camr who actually did a 30 day carnivore before and after and had multiple labs look at his stool before and after. His microbiome actually improved over the 30 days of only meat which was quite surprising. I’m sure you can find the video if you searched it.

My daughter rang me one day a couple of years after she'd become vegan and told me she had candida for six months and nothing was helping. I told her it was her diet and that she should cut back on the sugar of course. It went. She isn't a vegan now.

All you need to do to understand she is so right is try it. I've been strictly carnivore for 6 months and started to feel the benefits after just one week.
@@Marcinmd1The way I understood it is that after the body uses up the carbs from the meal, it proceeds to use up the dietary fat in the meal. After that is done, and it still requires energy, it dips into the fat stores. So, adding fat such as butter to your meals is counterproductive to your goal of loosing weight (fat stores depletion). I see her point. I don't use much butter, but, I do use a lot of olive oil. So, I have to cut do😢wn on that.
I would love to see several points Dr. Zoe made in sound bites form, shorts, I guess they're called here. Very similar to the beginning of this video, easy to share, easy to watch, easy to digest, pun wasn't intended. She's definitely a hero!!

Greens , fermented . Me at 51 , i eat less but can't go without fermenting my greens , cabbage (sourkraut),onions , celery, radishes etc . Sprouting lentils and mung beans for protein ,fresh eggs and my meats 😊 . Carbs per say i try eating them as an individual meal ...seems a tad easier to deal with . But bottomline knowing the glycemic index for the food/carbs you eat is primordial. And lets not forget soaking all my nuts prior eating, completly changes the nutrient values. But thats me 😊😊😊
For the digestive system as it’s scientifically proven in hundreds of studies to be a significant factor in lowering your chances getting bowel or some colorectal cancers - which are incidentally on a 70% increase with people under the age of 40 - and advice like this from Jesse is highly irresponsible
Such a clear and direct speaker. Zoe was one of the first handful of people I listened to when I changed my WOE 2yrs ago. Always good to see a new interview with her. Mind you, I watched this then popped into my local Tesco who were putting out loudspeaker announcements about specials on 'items under 100 calories and low fat to help customers be healthier'. 🙄
When it comes to the parts that most people won't eat, butchers end up selling as pet food cheap. It's really understandable that often our pets are healthier than us humans.
I experienced a rapid weight loss in approx. 3 weeks when I went from 20% body fat to where I could not feel any body fat beneath my skin . My skin around my mid section had folds from the fat shrinking faster than the skin . Then after another week my skin shrank so that it was tight against the muscle . How I accomplished this I will tell you . I decided to paddle my kayak around Vancouver island which is approx. 550 nautical miles around point to point . When I had reached the most northerly point called Cape Scott after 2 weeks of paddling 10 to 14 hours a day I noticed that my body fat had all disappeared . I can recall how my body felt each day before setting out before the sun rose and not eating . It was agonising and my energy was really low for that period in time . I was only consuming nuts and energy bars while seated in my kayak . I only stopped and got out for an hour each day to have a break and consume non fat calories . After this fat loss transition I remember feeling a tremendous amount of energy and any hunger pains were gone . After 35 days I completed the journey and had no visible body fat and felt amazing . I could also consume a lot more food without satisfying my appetite . I guess every fat cell in my body was loading up because within a couple weeks I could feel fat beneath my skin again . I swear I could take anyone over weight and reduce their body fat to under 10 % in 3 weeks or so if they didn't kill me first or themselves . I guess my point is you have to burn calories and reduce consumption to where you are net zero calorie surplus . You can achieve this in many ways but none of them are by sitting unless you have a paddle in your hands .
I have 8 children, my oldest two I was not able to nurse, the next 4 I nursed but after 7 months really had issues keeping my milk up and struggled just to make it to a year though I desperately wanted to go longer. With the last two I was able to get things straight with my nutrition, gee who knew that effect milk supply...certainly not any of the medical help I sought out!, and nursed baby 7 until a bit over 2 when I became pregnant with baby 8 and she naturally weaned. Baby 8 was stillborn and then baby 9 came along and she nursed until 3! The last two I nursed without difficulty and it was just such a blessing!
Great speaker and mirrors exactly how I live with the exception of one thing which was fasting. The health benefits of intermittent fasting are exceptional and we do not need to associate fasting with weight loss. Just do all of the things in this discussion but skip breakfast. I also find that building some mental fortitude through intermittent fasting helps with my other food choices. Furthermore a good intermittent fast of 15-16 hrs by skipping breakfast helps my stomach “shrink” a bit meaning I feel full more easily. I then eat a good size lunch and a lighter dinner in the evening that also gives me better sleep. I also do a long walk in the morning or do my weights workout while fasted and find this very beneficial.
I have been telling my friends this for ages and they don't understand the basic physiology they just follow the calories in calories out. I started intermittent fasting 3 yrs ago, love it, lost weight slowly and naturally and my health is amazing. Don't do carbs and use full fat things like milk. I make fermented dairy like L. Reuteri and kefir. I don't stress with counting, dont wear monitors, I look great 'cos I understand my body. Thanks for this it's so informative ❤x
I eat very simple - mostly raw vegetables salad and some fruit and nuts and dried fruit. I don’t eat meat or dairy I’m quite thin and very healthy age 50 no medication. I don’t eat refined sugar or flour or seed oils. I do occasionally have Parmesan cheese on my salads. I love olive oil. I think we need to do what works for us. For me too much meat and dairy is not good for my body. But I believe we must do what works and if meat only works then this is great!
Yes, what ever works. But after being vegetarian I have never been better than when I switched to Keto. A shock diagnosis caused me to rethink diet. Amazing the difference junking all I thought was correct - the Keto is truly based on science. Got rid of lot of minor physical aches, got rid of medication I was on for 30 years and brain function was much better. So good I've tried carnivore - but didn't feel I improved further. But imagine my surprise that you feel fine just eating meat - it is mind bending when we have been blasted by nonsense for decades.
I agree with what she says EXCEPT: Dairy contains carbs (lactose) and alcohol is just more sugars. So IMHO ideally the dairy should be limited to hard cheese and butter occasionally and alcohol never
Im so confused. Just watched dr Davis who wrote a book about gut and the role of bacteria through fiber. Dr Lustig says about fiber and gut health. Stephanieketoperson same. Here, no fiber. I started carnivore a month ago and I am confused.
I am now a carnivore for seven weeks and i have lost 10kg my chronic back pain is almost gone i don’t need my glasses other than for reading my fingers were full of pre arthritis pain now gone i don’t have food cravings. A year ago i had pericarditis for the second time in my life as a result i stopped alcohol consumption and now i have stopped all sugar all processed food and have gone from 5-7 cups of black coffee to non and i feel the best me ever and I’m 63 years of age . I agree with all the topics that Dr Harcombe has touched on and i fear that most people don’t want to know i only have to talk to my wife to be convinced that even when she sees how well I’m doing she refuses to listen to the evidence presented which sadly is to her detriment. As the saying goes you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink it .God bless you for bringing this to the masses.
I tried high fat carnivore diet many times, every time my gut feels way better if i add a boiled carrot or potato with boiled half onion and some boiled sliced mushrooms, way better toilet experience and stable once a day visit.
Have you ever gotten past the 2-3 week mark? After that point your body readjusts and you won't have diarrhea at all. It's remarkable, BMs stop smelling, you stop having gas altogether. So unusual compared to a diet with carbs.
This is likely due to changing your diet too quickly. Without a gradual transition over an 8 week period, you can cause an imbalance in your gut microbiome. I recommend you try adding fermented vegetables like sauerkraut and kimchi if you can tolerate them.
Did Keto, felt good but didn't lose much weight (and now I know why). Now, I'm non dairy carnivore and feel amazing. If I do have dairy, it's raw goats dairy and it's a very rare treat
I've listened to this last for 40mins I think it's enough to establish she doesn't fall know what's agreed talking about, I agree the last meal needs to be early before 6pm but she eats fast too often put fat too much importance into eating. Really the answer is eat less and stay away from processed food limit sugar and carbs.
I went carnivore listening to people like this!! Because of a long period of heavy stress my health went downwards… so i changed my way of eating in the hope my health would improve. But it surely didn’t. First of all i lost so much weight. 58kg for a length of 182cm. That is flesh over bone. Because of the fat and the meat that is hard to digest my stomach ulcers went severe. At the end i got left with gastritis. My psoriasis went to the roof. My Candida went to the roof, my nails became lose on the nailbed and so on… Went back to a normal way of eating (still low carb, no sugar, no processed foods, vegetables, meat, fermented dairy, fermented foods in low moderation) and got my health almost back. Am not there yet but hell it’s so much better then following an extreme diet My point is not everyone trives on this kind of diets!!!!
I'm SO confused. She talked about the way an apple can spike your blood glucose and isn't actually healthy because of all the work the body needs to do to get the blood glucose back to where it needs to be, and then later she says she has an apple, orange, or figs in the morning with her breakfast... Help me understand.
If your body has no problems regulating blood sugar, when wholefoods containing sugar is fine. But for many this is not the case, as they are either diabetic or prediabetic and then even an apple can cause problems. 60% of Americans are in fact either diabetic or prediabetic..
Maybe it is because she takes rhe apple with real full fat yoghurt perhaps, not just the apple, yes, she should be more clear about it. I see one reply also said take peanut butter with the apple. Must be the yoghurt.
Wonderful knowledge again from Zoe. I got complacent with carbs recently and put weight back on. Back to protein & fats I go. Never run out of energy if using correct substrate

Saturated fat (lard and other animal fats) just wipe off the stove with a paper towel. You can't do that with the oils. They stick like plastic. Imagine what they do to your insides.
30:40. Getting into ketosis for a long enough time frame to cure your insulin resistance is all you need. I did keto diet for 90 days, 9 years ago. I have not gained back anything I eat Doritos and lollipops and soda. I just don't make it the majority of my diet but if I want to sit down and have a cheeseburger with some Doritos and a root beer then I do You really have to eat poorly for years to get insulin resistant, so as long as you don't live on soda and potato chips and the majority of your diet is meat, you'll be fine
She’s talking about the way to try to influence a change from the bottom up by telling our friends, or pointing our friends to good information, and that is working in some degree, but most often people just turn off. they say you can’t believe anything anybody says these days. And it’s true in a way. I came to this interview after listening to countless hours of stuff about carnivore and trying to do it, giving up alcohol at the same time. Going through the keto flu for sure. Went to my doctor for a regularly scheduled check up and I can tell she’s trying to push me toward drugs. Right now I take zero drugs but I’m tired, but I’m 68. I’m at my perfect weight, but I’m waking up Hangry. Perfect word. I’m listening and I’m trying, but I am so confused.
I agree with lots of what she’s saying, except that intermittent fasting has really helped me with insulin resistance. And I feel more in control of my eating. I think it helps people that have had some eating disorder now I feel like my eating is in order with intermittent fasting

Am 62 been a carnivore over two years, meat, eggs, fish, butter, water and salt. Have had an upgrade on my health, including energy, strength, feet skin issues gone and a very positive mental attitude. Had a chronic sinus congestion/inflammation and cancelled my cheese and milk intake, sinus issues now all gone. Don't take any meds. Healing the body is ongoing after years of eating and drinking crap.....will never go back
Joseph Mercola came out with an email today for his subscribers about how he has changed his mind about promoting a verly low carb diet. Some things he said is that it can lead to poor sleep, lower ability to gain muscle strength, lower testosterone, increase insulin resistance. Also, relying on gluconeogenesis to make the the glucose needed is inefficient and energetically expensive for the body and raises stress hormones. It does not address underlying issues with glucose metabolism. I have found that when I strictly reduce carbs my sleep quality goes way down.
I have zero problems sleeping and none of the other things you’ve mentioned and none of the other carnivores or keto people do either. We are all feeling amazing 🙌🏼. I love Mercola but I don’t agree with everything he says. I do research and listen to other doctors and scientists that have done the work on this diet/proper human diet.
I completely agree with treating the time between dinner and breakfast as the daily fast. For total beginners, start at a strict eight or nine hours before breakfast. I don't believe in fasting for its own sake. When you're hungry, eat, but eat something that's not going to raise your insulin, and that will satisfy. If you're eating the right foods, you will be hungry for less often far less. I cannot go six or seven hours, barely thinking about food. As Dr. David Ludwig points out in his book, thinking about food is itself a biochemical event, triggered by hormonal action in the brain. You'll probably be eating within a short time. That's how it works.
Yesthey do, but they don't know that our gutmicrobiome is being destroyed by said bacteria. Those particular bacteria cause overgrowth! And fiber destroys the delicate gut lining. You get healthy gut bacteria from meats and particularly butter, which is named after butyric acid, which comes from plants that the cows/sheep/goats have predigested for us, removing the plant toxins!
Pre-fermented fibers of (organic non gmo) Kimchi, sauerkraut and the like are worth considering, if you've got the guts naturally. Thanks and bless you 🌱
Most doctors have no idea about nutrition and are not scientists. They just parrot the nonsense. We are not ruminant animals with multi-chambered stomachs. Explain how our gut bacteria can digest fiber? We have a vestigial cecum which cannot process fiber and cellulose, and get little to no short chain fatty acids (butyrate) from it. The only possible benefit is with pre-fermented plant foods, but even that is vastly inferior to meat.
Someone needs to start circulating that antidepressant study before it disappears. Too many kids getting prescribed that shite every hour across America. It’s killing what’s left of their D2 receptors. They’ll never be happy again. Thanks Jesse and Dr. Zoë✌🏽
My husband has been on antibiotics since 1999 due to a surgeon botching his insides. Without them puts him in hospital. Luckily he is now being looked after by a great surgeon in York UK. Years ago I read Barry Groves Trick and Treat. Really interesting book. It’s what started me on eating low carb.

I eat a vegan plant based diet and her advice sounds very scary to me. I would like to see her talk/debate Dr Gregor, McDougal, Neil Bernard, they would educate her. Her not needing to poop is weird. And then she exaggerates that you eat fiber you need to poop every 5 minutes. No just once a day, like almost all animals do. Do not drink cows milk ever, milk is for babies and it kills millions of baby boy calf’s every day.

I was born in 1958 and have been on a low-carb diet for the past 15 years. In recent years, I have been more strict. Wow, it's amazing. I am completely healthy and without ailments. Never hungry or craving something sweet. Eat full-fat food with meat and fish, always homemade. Today I weigh just as much as I did in 1980 and then I was fit after my military service. This is the best thing that has happened to me and I am completely healthy. Now I'm going to dance rock and roll until my 100th birthday.

@@joanneclark8256 I live in Sweden so we have a very high standard of food regardless of whether it's organic. I eat bacon and eggs for breakfast. Otherwise, meat, pork, fish, chicken etc together with usually cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage and maybe some carrot. Never rice or pasta... but sometimes an ordinary potato. I make sauce with cream as a base. Then there will be homemade kefir and some nuts and coccos flakes. The best part is that you don't get hungry from this food. And some cheese as snacs.

In 2013 I was invited on a cruise and needed to loose weight to fit in my old gala dresses.
I had six weeks to do this. I found Zoë, I immediately stopped most of all carbs and fitted in my gala dresses on time. On the cruise I kept loosing weight despite or maybe with the help of choice of all the good food.
I lost 12 kilos (26 lbs) in all. I still have that same weight 51 kilos, am 87 years, still running around with no ailments whatsoever…. No medications or vaccinations…. I still travel a lot and have a piece of Gouda cheese with me just in case . But it’s so relaxing to never have to think “ I have to eat!”

The LDL levels must be brought down eigther with lowering saturated fat intake or with statins. She's not wrong about raw milk. That milk should never have been in your tanker ti begin with. We should be going to the farm and buying it from the small, local, organic, 100% grass fed farm.
I had to quit all veggies grain seed and nuts to heal Rheumatoid arthritis. It worked. I already was off ALL processed foods and seed oils etc. Now on carnivore almost 2 yrs. Everything is healing! Eyes(no reading glasses needed anymore!) sebaceous cysts went away. IBS GONE gingivitis healed and receded gums grew back!! And more❤

I'm in America. I don't drink milk often because it makes me congested. I bought some milk at an Amish store once; which didn't cause any issue, so I drank a second pint. Turned out it was marked as A2A2 milk. Upon a little search I found out A2A2 is a hormone that has been bred out of most cows in America.....that is so sad. That was the best milk.
It's available from Azure Standard. I don't know where you live but if you look around you'll probably find a local farmer selling A2 milk.

My rule of thumb is if you're still feeling shitty or not losing weight, cut carbs until you find the threshold that will start healing. Sometimes losing weight is your body's last priority so if you feel good, then you're on the right path. The weight will come off when your body feels safe/inflammation is gone. But always eat until you're full. Always. And prioritize fatty meat, especially red meat.

@@joanneclark8256 Red meat is usually ruminant animals. They have a much better digestive system so they don't have as much toxins in them as chicken and pork do. Also red meat has more iron in it and is more closely related to what we evolved eating, like fatty mammoth. People with auto-immune diseases do better on red meat from what I've read.
Red meat has been scientifically linked to some forms of colorectal cancers, and coronary heart disease- that’s why this whole proposition from Jesse is quite ludicrous

10 days it took me - to get over that massive tiredness. I didn't get flu like feelings. Instead, I was absolutely shattered for days because I went all in from the first day. I went out and bought £300 worth of meat and stocked the freezer up. Before that I was a huge sugar monster. I've always had a sweet tooth but now - my god I feel absolutely awesome. I've never been overweight either, I'm purely doing this to sharpen up and feel better. It works! Bacon and eggs for breakfast every day, 6 rashers and 6 eggs, then steak/burgers/fish/chicken, whatever I feel like for the rest of the day (if I'm hungry). I don't snack anymore and I'm not even tempted. I'm smashing the gym more than I've ever done and I feel strong. I can't recommend this low-carb diet enough.

Went carnivore years ago from keto but just out of boredom I thought I'd give myself a few carbs for a change. It was just a couple of slices of bread and a banana a few times a week. What a big mistake that was. The change in me was astonishing and I learned my lesson.

If you wanted to add a few carbs, why didn’t you try something like an avocado a day, some raw milk, an ounce of macadamia nuts? Just a few examples of foods that have excellent nutritional value and might not even knock you out of ketosis? You opted to just randomly add 80g of carbs to your carnivore diet and your shocked you saw negative effects?
@@sugreeva7 Banana is the only fruit that doesn't seriously affect my body. I can't eat avocado and I love my cream. Raw milk isn't available where I live. Anyway, it only lasted a couple of weeks, I learned my lesson.
Most wonderful interview that I will be encouraging people to watch left, right and centre. I've been a UK carnivore and intermittent faster with periodic extended fasts (3-7 days) since Jan 2023 - I had a starting weight of 21st/294lbs/134kg). It has completely changed my life - off all my meds and from not being able to walk more than 20 yds for pain and breathlessness, I will be walking 100km of the Camino in Sept. So good to hear an enlightened UK doctor's perspective on UK dairy, thank you. I feel so liberated. Thank you, went keto Jan 2023. I was a sugar addict..... no more. I beat that addiction. I was diagnosed with CLL. chronic lymphocytic leukemia in 2016. I have always been slender, 115LB, worked out, ran 10k, never ever sick!. Now due to the CLL, I am 94LB , 5'5". How do I gain weight to save my body strength? I try to exercise at gym, but the inflammation from the CLL IS TRYING TO TAKE ME DOWN. @ 70 yrs old I decided to go to Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida to address my CLL.

I too feel guilty for drinking milk. Zoe makes me feel better. I eat mostly meat based and without dairy I would lose weight and don’t need to. So many say dairy is bad. Where I live you can’t get raw milk and the A2 in the grocery stores is ultra pasteurized but I enjoy it though expensive 😢

As far as fasting goes. I am retired so time is not really important. So is what I do is I stop eating around 5 o’clock in the evening and then I won’t eat again for 18 hours later in which is 11 AM the next day. And many days it’s sometime after noon. And even then I’m not really that hungry.
I’ve been doing this for five months now and lost 40 pounds. I weighed from 220 pounds to 180 and basically never really feeling that hungry. I am probably 90 to 95% carnivore and I don’t see it being a problem at all.

You shouldn't fast that long. You're risking muscle loss. Especially the older you get. You need more protein, more consistency. Some of that weight loss is likely muscle loss too.
I'm 51 this past March. I eat almost the same pattern as you. 6:00 p.m. and then at 12:00 the next day. Depending on my activity level, sometimes 1 meal is all I need. Zero carb/sugar cravings.
I'm not a weight room guy, though. I'm an avid back country hiker/backpacker.
Carnivore and fasting are really compatible with endurance or even strength endurance activities. For me, this can mean carrying anywhere from 20lbs, up to 80lbs(if supply cashes/drops aren't an option. It's like I'm on cruise control.
I have no idea how Carnivore translates in the gym, with traditional strength training.

10 years ago I lost 3 stone simply by cutting out anything processed, so that I knew exactly what I was eating, and I still do this and have kept it off no problem. It has to become a lifestyle choice, I just don't want to put rubbish into my body. I'm now mainly carnivore, eating twice a day, and have loads of energy.

Regarding dairy - I'm white, fully European, and I've always adored dairy, but recently I tried cutting it out, and instantly my periods become lighter and pain free. I had dairy again over the weekend, and my period this time was painful and heavy, just like it was all my menstruating years before cutting dairy out. Dairy might have affected me in other ways, such as anxiety/depression, but I'm not sure. However, it most definitely had a horrible effect on my cycle.

The guest makes very good points and is spot on for the 99% of people who are physically inactive. For the 1% of very active people who do intense daily workouts that burn through 600+ calories of glycogen every day, carbs are a necessity. During the hour following the workout, rice and potatoes are perhaps the best carbs you can eat. They are high glucose and low fructose. The 1% need to manage their glycogen deficit quickly, within the first hour after exercise, and without overloading fructose. 3 hours after their workouts, the 1%-ers become like everyone else, and can heed the advice of Dr. Harcombe and avoid most carbs.
Rice and potatoes are filled with lectins. Sweet potato has oxalates. There are cooking techniques to remove lectins but a simple approach is not always going to work.

I have four scrambled eggs with an avocado at 10.30 then at 5pm chicken breast,or steak with veg and a sweet potato and that's it for the day,no snacking during the day, I'm 53 year old man very lean and toned

Sweet potato has a lot of oxalates. It's good to have it twice a week to remove carcinogens but it's also debilitating when taken for too long.

My concern is about the fiber. I am hearing from well respected MD’s in the current research community (Like Dr. Robert Lustig) that your gut microbiome needs the insoluble fiber in order to eat and thrive, and in the absence of fiber, your own gut microbiome will start to eat away at your mucosal layer and cause/contribute to leaky gut. If anyone really knows the answer to this, please let me know!
I looked this up a couple of days ago "Does carnivore affect your gut biome" It certainly can. The one thing that jumped out at me was how you can expect a smaller diversity of microbes
Curious this too. Started carnivire with my dad last few months. barely any veggies or fruit.
There was a recent ketovore UA-camr who actually did a 30 day carnivore before and after and had multiple labs look at his stool before and after. His microbiome actually improved over the 30 days of only meat which was quite surprising. I’m sure you can find the video if you searched it.

My daughter rang me one day a couple of years after she'd become vegan and told me she had candida for six months and nothing was helping. I told her it was her diet and that she should cut back on the sugar of course. It went. She isn't a vegan now.

All you need to do to understand she is so right is try it. I've been strictly carnivore for 6 months and started to feel the benefits after just one week.
Actually I found that eating butter helped me to curb carb cravings at night.

@@Marcinmd1The way I understood it is that after the body uses up the carbs from the meal, it proceeds to use up the dietary fat in the meal. After that is done, and it still requires energy, it dips into the fat stores. So, adding fat such as butter to your meals is counterproductive to your goal of loosing weight (fat stores depletion). I see her point. I don't use much butter, but, I do use a lot of olive oil. So, I have to cut do😢wn on that.
The fat in butter curbs hunger if you experience hunger

Greens , fermented . Me at 51 , i eat less but can't go without fermenting my greens , cabbage (sourkraut),onions , celery, radishes etc . Sprouting lentils and mung beans for protein ,fresh eggs and my meats 😊 . Carbs per say i try eating them as an individual meal ...seems a tad easier to deal with . But bottomline knowing the glycemic index for the food/carbs you eat is primordial. And lets not forget soaking all my nuts prior eating, completly changes the nutrient values. But thats me 😊😊😊

When it comes to the parts that most people won't eat, butchers end up selling as pet food cheap. It's really understandable that often our pets are healthier than us humans.
Good point! Also how when they go to the vet, the vets always ask us what our pets eat and how much of it. I’ve never had a doctor ask ME that.

I experienced a rapid weight loss in approx. 3 weeks when I went from 20% body fat to where I could not feel any body fat beneath my skin . My skin around my mid section had folds from the fat shrinking faster than the skin . Then after another week my skin shrank so that it was tight against the muscle . How I accomplished this I will tell you . I decided to paddle my kayak around Vancouver island which is approx. 550 nautical miles around point to point . When I had reached the most northerly point called Cape Scott after 2 weeks of paddling 10 to 14 hours a day I noticed that my body fat had all disappeared . I can recall how my body felt each day before setting out before the sun rose and not eating . It was agonising and my energy was really low for that period in time . I was only consuming nuts and energy bars while seated in my kayak . I only stopped and got out for an hour each day to have a break and consume non fat calories . After this fat loss transition I remember feeling a tremendous amount of energy and any hunger pains were gone . After 35 days I completed the journey and had no visible body fat and felt amazing . I could also consume a lot more food without satisfying my appetite . I guess every fat cell in my body was loading up because within a couple weeks I could feel fat beneath my skin again . I swear I could take anyone over weight and reduce their body fat to under 10 % in 3 weeks or so if they didn't kill me first or themselves . I guess my point is you have to burn calories and reduce consumption to where you are net zero calorie surplus . You can achieve this in many ways but none of them are by sitting unless you have a paddle in your hands .
I have 8 children, my oldest two I was not able to nurse, the next 4 I nursed but after 7 months really had issues keeping my milk up and struggled just to make it to a year though I desperately wanted to go longer. With the last two I was able to get things straight with my nutrition, gee who knew that effect milk supply...certainly not any of the medical help I sought out!, and nursed baby 7 until a bit over 2 when I became pregnant with baby 8 and she naturally weaned. Baby 8 was stillborn and then baby 9 came along and she nursed until 3! The last two I nursed without difficulty and it was just such a blessing!

Great speaker and mirrors exactly how I live with the exception of one thing which was fasting. The health benefits of intermittent fasting are exceptional and we do not need to associate fasting with weight loss. Just do all of the things in this discussion but skip breakfast. I also find that building some mental fortitude through intermittent fasting helps with my other food choices. Furthermore a good intermittent fast of 15-16 hrs by skipping breakfast helps my stomach “shrink” a bit meaning I feel full more easily. I then eat a good size lunch and a lighter dinner in the evening that also gives me better sleep. I also do a long walk in the morning or do my weights workout while fasted and find this very beneficial.

I have been telling my friends this for ages and they don't understand the basic physiology they just follow the calories in calories out. I started intermittent fasting 3 yrs ago, love it, lost weight slowly and naturally and my health is amazing. Don't do carbs and use full fat things like milk. I make fermented dairy like L. Reuteri and kefir. I don't stress with counting, dont wear monitors, I look great 'cos I understand my body. Thanks for this it's so informative ❤x

Your body requires less vitC when not consuming carbs. So meat has enough

I eat very simple - mostly raw vegetables salad and some fruit and nuts and dried fruit. I don’t eat meat or dairy I’m quite thin and very healthy age 50 no medication. I don’t eat refined sugar or flour or seed oils. I do occasionally have Parmesan cheese on my salads. I love olive oil. I think we need to do what works for us. For me too much meat and dairy is not good for my body. But I believe we must do what works and if meat only works then this is great!
Meat is good for EVERYONE, its our food source. You are missing out on vital nutrients.

Yes, what ever works. But after being vegetarian I have never been better than when I switched to Keto. A shock diagnosis caused me to rethink diet. Amazing the difference junking all I thought was correct - the Keto is truly based on science. Got rid of lot of minor physical aches, got rid of medication I was on for 30 years and brain function was much better. So good I've tried carnivore - but didn't feel I improved further. But imagine my surprise that you feel fine just eating meat - it is mind bending when we have been blasted by nonsense for decades.
Dried fruit has a lot of sugar and even slim people can get diabetes.

I agree with what she says EXCEPT: Dairy contains carbs (lactose) and alcohol is just more sugars.
So IMHO ideally the dairy should be limited to hard cheese and butter occasionally and alcohol never

Im so confused. Just watched dr Davis who wrote a book about gut and the role of bacteria through fiber. Dr Lustig says about fiber and gut health. Stephanieketoperson same. Here, no fiber. I started carnivore a month ago and I am confused.
I am now a carnivore for seven weeks and i have lost 10kg my chronic back pain is almost gone i don’t need my glasses other than for reading my fingers were full of pre arthritis pain now gone i don’t have food cravings. A year ago i had pericarditis for the second time in my life as a result i stopped alcohol consumption and now i have stopped all sugar all processed food and have gone from 5-7 cups of black coffee to non and i feel the best me ever and I’m 63 years of age . I agree with all the topics that Dr Harcombe has touched on and i fear that most people don’t want to know i only have to talk to my wife to be convinced that even when she sees how well I’m doing she refuses to listen to the evidence presented which sadly is to her detriment. As the saying goes you can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink it .God bless you for bringing this to the masses.
I tried high fat carnivore diet many times, every time my gut feels way better if i add a boiled carrot or potato with boiled half onion and some boiled sliced mushrooms, way better toilet experience and stable once a day visit.
Have you ever gotten past the 2-3 week mark? After that point your body readjusts and you won't have diarrhea at all. It's remarkable, BMs stop smelling, you stop having gas altogether. So unusual compared to a diet with carbs.

This is likely due to changing your diet too quickly. Without a gradual transition over an 8 week period, you can cause an imbalance in your gut microbiome. I recommend you try adding fermented vegetables like sauerkraut and kimchi if you can tolerate them.

Did Keto, felt good but didn't lose much weight (and now I know why). Now, I'm non dairy carnivore and feel amazing. If I do have dairy, it's raw goats dairy and it's a very rare treat

I've listened to this last for 40mins I think it's enough to establish she doesn't fall know what's agreed talking about, I agree the last meal needs to be early before 6pm but she eats fast too often put fat too much importance into eating. Really the answer is eat less and stay away from processed food limit sugar and carbs.

I went carnivore listening to people like this!! Because of a long period of heavy stress my health went downwards… so i changed my way of eating in the hope my health would improve. But it surely didn’t.
First of all i lost so much weight. 58kg for a length of 182cm. That is flesh over bone.
Because of the fat and the meat that is hard to digest my stomach ulcers went severe. At the end i got left with gastritis.
My psoriasis went to the roof. My Candida went to the roof, my nails became lose on the nailbed and so on…
Went back to a normal way of eating (still low carb, no sugar, no processed foods, vegetables, meat, fermented dairy, fermented foods in low moderation) and got my health almost back. Am not there yet but hell it’s so much better then following an extreme diet
My point is not everyone trives on this kind of diets!!!!
I'm SO confused. She talked about the way an apple can spike your blood glucose and isn't actually healthy because of all the work the body needs to do to get the blood glucose back to where it needs to be, and then later she says she has an apple, orange, or figs in the morning with her breakfast... Help me understand.
If your body has no problems regulating blood sugar, when wholefoods containing sugar is fine. But for many this is not the case, as they are either diabetic or prediabetic and then even an apple can cause problems. 60% of Americans are in fact either diabetic or prediabetic..
Then she should have made that more clear.
Consume a teaspoon of peanut butter or a new nuts or slices of cheese with the apple this will help minimise the glucose spikes
@@gloriasaliba3395 Or just eat in a way where you dont need a snack inbetween meals. You can still eat an apple as a desert after a meal of course.
Maybe it is because she takes rhe apple with real full fat yoghurt perhaps, not just the apple, yes, she should be more clear about it. I see one reply also said take peanut butter with the apple. Must be the yoghurt.
Wonderful knowledge again from Zoe. I got complacent with carbs recently and put weight back on. Back to protein & fats I go. Never run out of energy if using correct substrate

Saturated fat (lard and other animal fats) just wipe off the stove with a paper towel. You can't do that with the oils. They stick like plastic. Imagine what they do to your insides.
30:40. Getting into ketosis for a long enough time frame to cure your insulin resistance is all you need. I did keto diet for 90 days, 9 years ago. I have not gained back anything
I eat Doritos and lollipops and soda. I just don't make it the majority of my diet but if I want to sit down and have a cheeseburger with some Doritos and a root beer then I do
You really have to eat poorly for years to get insulin resistant, so as long as you don't live on soda and potato chips and the majority of your diet is meat, you'll be fine

She’s talking about the way to try to influence a change from the bottom up by telling our friends, or pointing our friends to good information, and that is working in some degree, but most often people just turn off. they say you can’t believe anything anybody says these days. And it’s true in a way. I came to this interview after listening to countless hours of stuff about carnivore and trying to do it, giving up alcohol at the same time. Going through the keto flu for sure. Went to my doctor for a regularly scheduled check up and I can tell she’s trying to push me toward drugs. Right now I take zero drugs but I’m tired, but I’m 68. I’m at my perfect weight, but I’m waking up Hangry. Perfect word. I’m listening and I’m trying, but I am so confused.
I agree with lots of what she’s saying, except that intermittent fasting has really helped me with insulin resistance. And I feel more in control of my eating. I think it helps people that have had some eating disorder now I feel like my eating is in order with intermittent fasting

Am 62 been a carnivore over two years, meat, eggs, fish, butter, water and salt. Have had an upgrade on my health, including energy, strength, feet skin issues gone and a very positive mental attitude. Had a chronic sinus congestion/inflammation and cancelled my cheese and milk intake, sinus issues now all gone. Don't take any meds. Healing the body is ongoing after years of eating and drinking crap.....will never go back
Joseph Mercola came out with an email today for his subscribers about how he has changed his mind about promoting a verly low carb diet. Some things he said is that it can lead to poor sleep, lower ability to gain muscle strength, lower testosterone, increase insulin resistance. Also, relying on gluconeogenesis to make the the glucose needed is inefficient and energetically expensive for the body and raises stress hormones. It does not address underlying issues with glucose metabolism.
I have found that when I strictly reduce carbs my sleep quality goes way down.

I have zero problems sleeping and none of the other things you’ve mentioned and none of the other carnivores or keto people do either. We are all feeling amazing 🙌🏼.
I love Mercola but I don’t agree with everything he says. I do research and listen to other doctors and scientists that have done the work on this diet/proper human diet.

I completely agree with treating the time between dinner and breakfast as the daily fast. For total beginners, start at a strict eight or nine hours before breakfast. I don't believe in fasting for its own sake. When you're hungry, eat, but eat something that's not going to raise your insulin, and that will satisfy. If you're eating the right foods, you will be hungry for less often far less. I cannot go six or seven hours, barely thinking about food. As Dr. David Ludwig points out in his book, thinking about food is itself a biochemical event, triggered by hormonal action in the brain. You'll probably be eating within a short time. That's how it works.

Plenty of doctors say fibre is not food for us, it’s food for gut bacteria that we need.
Yesthey do, but they don't know that our gutmicrobiome is being destroyed by said bacteria. Those particular bacteria cause overgrowth! And fiber destroys the delicate gut lining. You get healthy gut bacteria from meats and particularly butter, which is named after butyric acid, which comes from plants that the cows/sheep/goats have predigested for us, removing the plant toxins!
Pre-fermented fibers of (organic non gmo) Kimchi, sauerkraut and the like are worth considering, if you've got the guts
naturally.

Orally consumed bacteria are killed in stomach acid. Bacteria feeding on fibre creates gas causing bloating. Removing fibre cures constipation.
Most doctors have no idea about nutrition and are not scientists. They just parrot the nonsense. We are not ruminant animals with multi-chambered stomachs. Explain how our gut bacteria can digest fiber? We have a vestigial cecum which cannot process fiber and cellulose, and get little to no short chain fatty acids (butyrate) from it. The only possible benefit is with pre-fermented plant foods, but even that is vastly inferior to meat.
Fibre causes constipation, gut bacteria feeding on fibre causes bloating and stinky poo - this we don't need.

My husband has been on antibiotics since 1999 due to a surgeon botching his insides. Without them puts him in hospital. Luckily he is now being looked after by a great surgeon in York UK.
Years ago I read Barry Groves Trick and Treat. Really interesting book. It’s what started me on eating low carb.
