Shemp Howard died in a similar manner on November 22, 1955, three years and two days earlier. One minute he was riding home in the back of a taxi on his way home from a boxing match. Suddenly, without warning, he slumped over in pal Al Winston's lap, burning him with the cigar he had just lit, dead of his own heart attack at the age of 60.
Back in those days nobody knew about the dangers of smoking. Both Parky and Shemp were typical of the time in their heavy smoking habits - everything from cigarettes to cigars and pipes. And not only that, their diets, I'm sure, were usually cholesterol heavy with plenty of fatty meats and fried foods. Moe and Larry were also killed by their heavy smoking. Moe died of lung cancer and Larry from multiple strokes.
Sad that this man never lived to see success of his 2 sons Bob Einstein and Albert Brooks! ♣
such a treasure to watch as sad as it was.. I thank you for posting this.
Thanks! Glad you liked it...
I can't believe this has never been dramatized in any way.
Probably out of deference to Bob and Albert.
Harry would be so proud of Albert and Bob and what became of their careers.😊
Now THAT'S how to stage an exit. Talk about "leave 'em laughing " !
Albert sounds almost like his dad.😊

Is this the exact mini feature from Comedians in Cars?
This version contains some additional material at the end...
Dean Ward Oh! Where did it come from? Was it a special or something?
Yes... from a documentary that aired on HBO called "Let Me In, I Hear Laughter - A Salute To The Friars Club." Might be available on Amazon or Ebay.
Dean Ward Thank you for sharing, & the info! 💖
RIP Shecky!
