This couldn't be any worse of an assessment of both Knuckles and Askal's personality. Lol First of, Askal doesn't get tricked. He is persuaded by Merga after Merga tells him THE LITERAL TRUTH of the atrocities that had been committed by the Earth Dragons. What Askal didn't know was that Merga's plan would lead to the destruction of Avalice. He quickly realizes that he made the wrong choice, but as he sees how powerful Merga is, he simply gives in to her command. I wouldn't even say that he is hot-tempered, he just has an ego. This is in full display when Neera rejects him.

Askal knows he's the villain but just inexplicably thinks it's okay when he does it & inexplicably thinks blowing up his own planet is a good idea until you beat him up a second time & he spontaneously changes his mind. He also tries to kill Neera for rejecting him & he trapped her before proposing. Total nutcase. And not a well written one. Every villain in this game is atrociously written but he really takes the cake.
