I've done stupid things to the extent that I've often recently told myself that I've made all my mistakes. I'm just 25. I wonder what other mistake I'll make. I literally do the opposite of what I know to be good just to experience what it would be like to do things otherwise. I just try not to harm others or sabotage major things.
And the product is confidence and freedom.
And yes, I struggled with math too in school. I think I've recently improved and developed a little more interest, though I've never really given it a 2nd shot.
I used to think I loved philosophy, but it was wisdom I loved. Now, having studied philosophy, I think I've lost interest in the academic part of it.
    What are you studying?

  • @PromisingPod
    @PromisingPod 3 місяці тому +2

It's so good that you're going back to study. As far as having humility and not being afraid to "make a fool" out of yourself or being stupid, I think that is true. Too often we make people constantly show unstoppable strength and total correctness. Yes, you can reach a point where you are very good at something, and obviously you need to be serious in certain jobs, like working at a power plant or something, but with jobs like that they have lots of backups to account for human error. However, everyone makes silly mistakes. You misstep. You accidentally grab the wrong item. You have a day where you say the wrong thing.
I've literally been in situations where I was an expert at something, but some people still felt the need to nitpick and try to say you don't know what you're doing. The reality is that people can say all kinds of things that aren't true, just because they say you're goofy. Rumors and hearsay can make anyone into a goof. The reason is because you might think there's something wrong with you, but really you're just around people who bring you down, even though you are performing as best as humanly possible.
Not to mention, all Olympic athletes have made mistakes so many times, before they reached their current state and even know, a slip-up happens.
Yeah, there differences in abilities between people, but everyone has intelligence in different ways. Some people are book smart, but some people are intelligent in other ways, in social ways, in speech, in abilities, in decision-making, in business. You can't judge someone so easily. Everyone has powerful gifts.
Anyway, you definitely have great hosting and game streaming skills. That's hard to do and I hope you continue growing. You're still young and can still grow a lot and you'll carry that skill acquisition for later on in life. Hopefully you're doing okay and prepared for the maths and studies. Thanks, Little Alex. You definitely help loosen up our day and see the brighter things in life.

Intelligence is speed. It's how fast you figure things out. It also has a component in memory as well. But it's basically computational speed. Also who would come out publicly and say they're smart? That's totally crazy. People can surmise what they are if they're intelligent because they can notice others around them at different levels, but to come out and say this is like wearing a shirt with your salary on it. It's uncouth and opens you up for criticism.

    • @AnLittleAlex
      @AnLittleAlex  3 місяці тому

I can see that. Most people do not outwardly say that they are intelligent but they insinuate it by the way the speak to others.

@@AnLittleAlex Look up the Dunning Kruger Effect. It's basically what you're talking about. Also, most deeper intellectual pursuits are very conjectural, with the idea of empiricism being largely a false positive beyond a certain point. For example, if physicists were honest, they would say "your guess is as good as mine." to most of the ideas discussed today.

Einstein said imagination is more important than intelligence. So, intelligence without imagination is stupid!! Because they can't use their intelligence to figure anything out, or create something new. Book smart, but real world stupid.
Being open minded is related to imagination, because you can see, or be open to, other ways of doing things.
I agree. A truly intelligent person will never say they know everything. They are always searching for answers. They may not even know the question! But they're always searching and learning.
As an INTP, I learn a lot by observation. One trait of the INTP is they are a natural bullshit detector. They know when someone is lying, or doing something stupid, even if they may know nothing about the subject. It just feels wrong, and they will call them out. I've learned a lot by watching people do things wrong, so I don't have to do it. WHY should I makes mistakes when I can watch someone else do it, and learn from it?? Just because someone claims to be an expert in their field, that doesn't mean they actually know what they are doing, they might be just copying what they say someone else do, without reasoning out if it the right way to do it or not. This world has way too many copy cats. Brainless morons, Lemmings, jumping off the cliff because everyone else is doing it.

What you know is only half of intelligence. The other part is something like raw pattern recognition/comprehension of complexity.
So you might not know math because you never really learned it, but that doesn't mean you aren't intelligent and couldn't learn it at a high level.
Intelligent people are like everybody else: there are never-ending things they can learn. The difference is they have access to learning things that unintelligent people can't.
Intelligence is also a curse though, since an intelligent person is statistically... a freak. So they are more likely to be lonely and unable to communicate their ideas because most people won't understand them lol in general, they seem to be less happy as a result.

People are different. People are intelligent in different areas. But one sure indicator of an unintelligent person is arrogance. There are certain truths in life that are objective. 5+9=14, lobster is delicious, Germany is in Europe, etc. But to be shut out from others opinions or an inability to be flexible on your own is a sure way to go through life being as dumb as possible. Don't strive to be dumb. Strive to be open and flexible. You don't sound stupid. You sound very emotionally intelligent. And anyone with any authority would tell you that any intelligent person is above all emotionally intelligent

Knowledge and intelligence are two different things.
Stupidity is not making mistakes or not knowing something.
Being intelligent is not assuming that one does not contain conceptual errors.
Intelligence is the ability to be able to conceptualize different aspects of reality.
Being very intelligent is being able to conceptualize aspects of reality that most people find difficult to understand and do so quickly.
Stupidity is lacking the intellectual resources to understand aspects of reality.

Open-mindedness, wisdom; these are core intelligences. You want to be intelligent at the core, what you are describing isn't whether you want to be intelligent or stupid. What you are describing is not wanting to be intellectually driven for the most part. That doesn't equate to wanting to be stupid. Trust me, you don't want to be stupid. Being stupid makes life harder for you and for most people around you.
    I hope that makes sense.
Likewise, wanting to be stupid may result from you being quite intelligent, but not intelligent enough to figure out what you want isn't going to bring you happiness, but difficulty. Remove all the success which was good or somewhat intelligent from your life up until the point you are at. Remove the money or wealth from it, add difficulty. It's nothing fun.
You want to be intelligent at the core, but not exactly "know everything / intelligent at the niche subjects", such as math, let's say. 😊
Though, I don't know why you would want that either.
What you are describing seems to me as if "being intelligent is somehow controlling your life", where you don't exactly want to control stuff. Now, that would be a fair point to make and want.
As for my advice how to deal with said issue, I'd say be spiritual and perhaps find wisdom in teachings of the son of God.
(Not saying that you should necessarily become religious, since faith and religion aren't the same.)
Learn acceptance as a divine principle, practice it! You will be happier, if that's what you seek. 😄
    I hope this helps.
