This is what we need in this country. A basic appliance built to do a job and do it well. All this modern shit is all well and good but after only a few years they are due to be replaced. The AEC and Dennis appliances gave very good service. Another great look back to better days.
I hadn't noticed. On this filming day i was out to capture the fire engine scenes my mate wanted filmed. I'm glad i did so now, they seem to be very popular!
It's great seeing one of these still in use in London during the 80s. Probably because it didn't do too many miles in it's lifetime and doesn't have to work as hard as other trucks.
Trying to see if camera caught my old J reg Hillman Avenger as I lived behind Olympia that year and was always out and about round there in my old banger lol Was a vibrant place to live.
Probably still is. Every year i work at Olympia for CAMRA at the beer festival but that has been cancelled this year somthat's one trip to London less.....
Wembley also had one still in the 80s think old c or d reg I remember being older and slower than the current ones of the day 83 ish Dennis ones ? would this be correct ?
The AEC TLs were moved about quite a bit. There were only 5 left by the mid 1980s and would change stations quite a lot. A station could have either a TL or HP depending on what was fit to run at the time.....
Father Christmas, all I want for Christmas is that Fire Appliance you were on, Great video 👍
I miss the old sirens. And love the idea of Father Christmas arriving to put out a fire.
They were fundraising but were still on the run so if the call came in off they went!
A chimney fire perhaps.
I think they got their money's worth out of those t.l,s , fantastic machines ,loved it ,thanks.
My pleasure....

It is true, a lot of modern vehicles arn't up to the job, buses especialy last no where near as long as older LT types.
United Kingdom England Leeds Aec Fire Truck 1951 🇬🇧 Playmobil
A pair of 343 BMACs I notice. I used to catch two AEC Swift buses so equipped.
