I met Leonardo Amuedo a few years ago in Uruguay, at the end of a concert with the Fattoruso brothers. He is the most humble musician I know. This is really beautiful. His son is a great drummer, and Jesus Acosta is incredible . The feeling is beautyful.

Each string struck by Mr. Amuedo, regardless of the tune he plays, creates a note that has a way of striking the center of the heart of the listener. Met him one night at a club in Hollywood he had come into just to listen to the music. He was called on stage to sit in, which to the delight of the room , he did. I was called up to sing a tune & asked Mr. Amuedo if he'd back me. He did so -beautifully. The exquisite beauty of this man's talent is matched only by the beauty of his person.

Me acuerdo de verlo en el boliche Utopías, cerca del Cementerio del Buceo, en tiempos de no sé cuál de las elecciones post-dictadura, en la que las peñas de jazz se llenaban de jams con "repatriados fugaces" que venían a votar. Hacía unos años que había partido, y ya era grande antes de partir.
