They ended up paying him but not allowing him to return as reigning champion. In the 80s 100k was a good amount. Sadly he lost most of it on get rich quick schemes and died in 1999. And even more sadly? I'm old enough to remember all of this!

You should be aware that the animations to a triggered pot like the piggy bank or the gold pot to Dancing Drums mean nothing whether it is due to hit or about to hit. The pot goes off via a random number generator (ie once out of every 50 times) Thus the pot can be triggered no matter what the animation looks like

It was the 1980's and he was Paul Michiael Larson there were only 5 different patterns and the one he selcted always after landing on 1 square would go to big money and would win him 3, 4, or 5k and a spin using this strategy he made 110,237 which at that time in 1984 was the largest one day total of prizes won he lost all the money within 2 years though.
