- In today's episode, we are back to the streets again, but this time with a different food idea - In search of the Best Street Momos of Kolkata.
Momos has become quite a staple among the street food bandwagon of Kolkata where this Tibetan import is relished by everyone, be it students or office goers - literally anyone and everyone!
A steaming plate of momos is all you need after a tiresome or rather a banal lecture or a hectic day at office . Don't you? So come join us as as we take a deep dive into the Kolkata Momo scene.
1. Kakurgachi Momo:

Chicken Momo
The Momo's had a Soft coat with finely minced chicken,onions and cabbage inside. Little bit smaller in size but tastewise really worth trying. They also provide clear chicken n veg soup a spicy chilli sauce along with the momos. Good filling and juicy texture from inside and delicate perfectly cooked coating made this very heart warming.
They don't serve any types of fried momo
So taking the factors in consideration, the location and quantity and quality, this one can be termed as one of best value street momo stall in the city.!!
Location - Adjacent to Kakurgachi Crossing and just opposite of Saltlake Auto Stand.
2. Bapi Da ( Solid Gulp)
Pocket Pinch- Rupees 40 for 4.
Considered legendary according to many from Karunamoyee area. They are famous for there MoMo's and fried Chicken. The momo's were certainly different . It had a resemblance of a dimsum or shumai. They looked really plum. The outer layer was very fine hence it got a bit over cooked . But the filling was full-on chicken Bonanza with few slither of onion and chili. Taste was good but you will ask yourself whether it was a momo or some other dumpling arter eating this. Worth trying. You will be served store bought chili sauce which was bit of a disappointment.
Also Bapi Da's momos get sold out max by 7.30pm!

3. Testy Momo -

If you have a budget of under 50 rupees, this one will be the best momo stall ever for you. The momo's were bigger in size than Kankurgachi and were served with one of the best chicken soup, we ever got served with momo. Period..
Thick soup was perfectly infused with chicken bone and topped with spring onions, this will surely melt down your heart. Regarding the filling of the momo it was similar to the Kankurgachi momo but had a certain herby freshness to it amount of filling was also fair. Moist and thin coating of outer layer will surely give you a chewy satisfaction. They serves momo with two types of sauce (sweet chilli and green chutney) that complements the momos.
We also tried their fried momo. Crispy from the outside but at the sametime was juicy from inside. After having the first bite, the juice just burst out from the momo and that was the best part. ❤
