bass player here but just got into playing some brushes cause they're just so easy to travel with and fun to play. I'm playing them on my cooler at the beach, on my table while watching bball, wherever. This is awesome thanks!
Hey Philip thanks so much for watching and for your comment! Drummers and Bassists are the peanut butter and jelly of Jazz. Glad to connect with you! So cool you're learning brushes too. If you haven't already checked it out, I know you'll enjoy my Brushes Mastery Course: jazzdrumschool.com/course/brushes-mastery-course I teach Bossa Nova, Samba and many other styles with brushes. Keep swinging my friend!
I'm not a drummer, but I just recently updated my drum VSTs (BFD, Native Instruments) with brush kits. I always had an adoration for brush drums, and this video just opened a whole other world for me. Those brush strokes aren't easy to program, especially to use in other forms of music. You made it a lot easier to learn. Thanks for this.
Thanks for your comment. I’m glad you found my video helpful for your work! Let me know if you ever need me to record some brush tracks for your music. Stay safe!

Just discovered your videos 9 and 10! Great playing! I have a question, I play matched grip and I notice how you have forward and back motion with the left hand which I don't know if it would transfer to a matched grip. Thanks for these great videos
Philip thanks for your comment and so sorry for the delay in responding. I have always felt there is something magical in the asymmetry of using traditional grip with brushes. I think it is also easier to do a wider variety of sweeping motions with traditional grip. Might be good to learn some traditional grip to play brushes. My brushes video #2 teaches about traditional grip. Hope my answer helps! Thanks again!
