  • Well we definitely started to create our vision but right now it looks like a mess. Some will like the idea and some won’t. Just need to execute the plan!

I see your vision. Don’t worry about the negative voices, that dont understand how you help the healthy trees by thinning the bad ones. Or the fact you have millions of other trees surrounding you. The views you are opening up are priceless. Your son is adorable. Your wife is very smart and eloquent, would love to see her and hear her talk about her visions for the property. Your videos on the progress and development of this cottage property are my favorites. Very interesting and positive, making your world a better place and we can live vicariously with you. Thanks, Great work.

For a woman who likes things neat and clean, waiting and waiting for the messes to "be gone" is nerve raking. Ok, I will try harder to be patient.

A wise forester knows you have to thin the trees, and he has to recognise infection in his trees so that he can cut them down, otherwise some infections spread to healthy trees. Then there's natural decay, all of which mean you have to get rid of the affected trees. And as with infections in people, so you have to dispose of infected ones safely using good technique. None of this is easy, it requires knowledge, good observation skills and lots of physical strength and/or specialist help plus machinery. This property is looking more and more beautiful. I'm enjoying watching the little boy and the dogs.

There are so many trees out there that it's just sensible to get rid of the ones that may cause damage in the future to other structures. Lovely to see your little man learning these skills of his dad from early on, it gives them such a great start in life no matter what path they take, those skills stay with them always

When I was your son’s age, I used to accompany my Dad, (who was a builder) to the site where he was building a house and play in the sand pile.
Happy memories stirred up by seeing Bauer play with the sawdust pile 😁
Keep up the good work, it shall all come together. Rome they say, was not built in a day 👍🏻👏🏻

You're on the right track.. no pun .. Overall the current trees had got out of hand, Woodland/Timber management is just that, thinning is needed, too many and they chock each other, longer trees die, smaller one just as susceptible, besides disease/infestation.
Given the Lake we've seen it's a wet area, so getting the light/sun in is the answer for healthy environment..
Timbers always sustainable, as well it's going for good use, not burnt and replanting with mix of Broad leaved trees way to go.. last a 100+ years, consider the fall, colour and extra light for the time of year.. and the snow scape..!! Let alone yours and Bauer's life time.
Third shed, next log store.. purpose use.. don't recall seeing a sauna.. run out dip in the lake..
Stay safe and take care if can't slow down.

You've got your hands full but what a fun project! I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. Your son is adorable, a chip off the old block! Before you know it he'll be in his early to mid teens and working along side you. I hope I will live long enough to see him all big and grown up and working with you. These are the best of times for you and him and I hope you are able to spend the time to video tape his growing up. In my era the technology didn't exist to do that but today people can chronicle their entire life and watch it when your older and share with your descendants. Watching him in the excavator with you I'll bet he's having the time of his life! Heck, he'll be running that thing soon. Thanks for another escape from the concrete hell life I live. Be safe.
