Stine & Jonas testing the Steadicam Merlin

This is a test of a Canon 550d with a 10-22mm on our newly purchased Merlin Steadicam rig. First impression is that it's ridiculously difficult to calibrate! And even if calibrated, it's like it un-calibrates itself within 20-30 seconds, so we literally have to recalibrate for every take.
Second impression in that it's almost as difficult to operate. Half of the "nice panning" you see in the video is the camera turning by itself.
During the test run, we got better at the "manual" handling, where you touch the control ring to better aim the camera. Downside to that is, you re-apply the human shaking which the whole rig serves to remove.
I guess we need practise!
