Awesome video! I am a former A-4F / TA-4 Power Plant Mech and there is still no better engine sound than the roar of a P408 at full military! So many Great memories!
Semper Fi.The P408 was only on Mikes. I watched the last A-4 built land at CPNC to begin its service. Upon further reflection I recalled, correctly it turned out, that the EA-6B also used the P408. Wiki lists J52-P-408A. That strikes me as odd. Our A-6E's had P8A's and P8B's. Left and Right ( or Port and Starboard!) as they were "Handed" to the accessory drive gearbox. I'm a little guy so I'd get called down to put the CSD into the gear box.
Happy Tinnitus Day Elmer! On my channel TheDustysix I have compiled playlists you guys would like. On my Wings/Aviation/Military list #93 is a noisy video of Kiwi RNZAF A-4's at Ohakea. One got really good at reading lips.
Looks like an ex-Singapore Skyhawk. The extended tailpipe is a giveaway. The Singaporean "Super Skyhawks" had upgrades to the engine, avionics and other modernizations. That climb angle is also very un-Skyhawk.
This one (and all C-registered Skyhawks at time of comment) is actually an ex-Israeli A-4N. The tailpipe mod was actually an Israeli idea in the Yom Kippur war to trick proximity fused SA-3s into detonating harmlessly behind the jet. An idea that Douglas adopted as factory for future designs.
A4 what a war bird I watched them do close air support up at our firebase at Conthien in June/July 67. A.O. located N.V.A. F.O.S in the jungle just out side our perimeter and unloaded H.E. ordinance and napalm on those unlucky brothers of uncle Ho.
But the true is the A-4 was built as an attack jet, rather than a fighter jet. So sad that there is only a very little or no chance at all for argentine fighter pilots to engage into a dogfight against other faster and more maneuvrable built for air superiority multirole fighters, even an old F-5E can outmatch the skyhawk by using only its cannon.
@@chicagobulls5436 the f5 would get kicked in by an a4, hell the a4 out turns the f16 in a 1 circle, the a4 is more than capable of killing a modern jet, in the right hands it's a great plane. For example they were used as aggressors, and the instructors gave the student f14 pilots hell.

A plane that brings very bad memories to the English fleet in the Falklands War.
No, the war the Malvinas is the A4-RA this is different model
Is A4-AR
@@rodobeat3629 I don't even think Argentina had the Fightinghawk at that time, just A-4Bs
