Great review. I think you have the VFD pretty much covered, unless you wanted to do some opeational tests with an oscilloscope or something. You should do some similar teardowns of other gear.
@@DmitriIvanov I saw in an EV conversion video, a guy upgraded only the IGBTs of a 1hp vfd and used it to run 90kw motor. Could you share your thoughts on this in the upcoming video?
Great question, it deserves a video all on its own. Ill try to put some thoughts together on it, but I'm not designing vfds, so I don't know all of the nuances of the design, but I'll do my best!
Very nice video, that little yellow transformer on the pcb is actually driven by that little 8 pin chip. That is a small fly back power supply. It more than likely does run straight of the pain rail on board. It’s a switch mode power supply. Unfortunately they didn’t install any common mode and differential mode inductors in the ac line. That’s crazy that they’re not on there.
@@DmitriIvanov - I found after chinese VFD , the next one with french VHD. Next days I'll watch everything what you have ....regarding electronics ....many thanks
Greeting from China. But I think you were trapped. This definitly was the best vfd brand in China. I dont know how much you buy this. In China, this will cost no more than 80 us bucks. Generally in the better quality vfd, you will find a reputable dsp such as TI tms320 series or Analog products. And you get what you pay for. Dont just think Chinese are cheap labour now. In Shenzhen, the real estate price is almost 13000 us bucks per square meter now. A reasonable family house almost cost you 1.2 million us bucks. So if you want buy cheap and quality products, I think you should go for India and South Asia countries now. And just dont think buy quality products but cheap now. Thats impossible. You should buy abb siemens vfd if you afford, I think thats best.
Hey Chen, oh i absolutely understand that china is not cheap labor anymore. I work in development and I know very well the transformation that you have gone through in the last 10 years or so. Chinese developed products absolutely can compete with western products now. Also agree about the south east asia countries, we are also going there for our "cheap labor" now as well. Thanks for the comment! I'm not sure this is really known yet all over the world...
Hey guys, let me know if you want to have some more videos about the VFD - we can continue to look at the circuit if you are interested!

Thank you very much for this interesting video, honestly there is no videos like that on youtube.
I hope add more videos like that.
Thanks for the nice words! New one coming in a few days :)
YESSSSSS
There are two more VFD videos, go check them out!
Of the many videos I’ve seen on vfds, yours is the best one! Amazing explanation!
Thanks man, making another one with a nice vfd this time. Keep an eye out for it!

Definitely want more of these videos.
Clear explanation I really enjoyed it, please make more videos like this teardown and if possible on AC servo drives
Very informative mate!
I love this video, clear explanation, hope you keep going to make another teardown videos..
Awesome explanation, Please make more videos like that👍
Will do, need to find some cool devices to take apart first X)
