Very good video. No need of having your music out there and not being able to track it. Thanks a million and that's what I plan to have real soon. Lol
You’re welcome. Glad I can help
If you (any artist) got your ISRC and UPC from distrokid, after you stop paying the annual fee and distro pulls your work from streaming platforms are those codes yours to keep or just gone?
If i have my own ISRC and UPC can i use them in Distrokid?
Does distrokid want my ISWC aswell?
i need this answer too
There have been changes to how you register your music for billboard. I recently wrote this book to show the full process of registering and releasing your music download a copy and let me know how it works out for you www.igobyneq.com/shop/the-hitchhikers-guide-to-releasing-music

Once you got tons of ISRC codes for your music, you can pretty much
list your music for sale everywhere. Do your own listing, you don’t
need those music publishers to get a cut from your royalties.
Maybe you need barcodes too to sell physical copies.

is the UPC code distrokid provides adequate for apple music playlisit pitching?
I’m not sure why you need your upc for playlist pitching but if someone if asking for a upc code from you yes the one provided by distrokid is adequate
Do you know if there's an easy way to find ISRC and UPC codes of songs without having access to the distributor account it was uploaded from?
I collab with a lot of artists and to register songs with both, must I ask everyone for these codes each time?
Login to Soundexchange the codes are available there.
@@igobyneq Thanks, the song in question does not show up in Soundexchange. Would the artist need to have registered it on soundexchange too? Or will it show up there later regardless?
@@Tapepusher i'm honestly trying to find out the same thing man
i want to catalog my beats and songs then put them out for sale. So after i get my ISRC codes and encode my beats & songs who do i need to register them with...soundscan, soundexchange, any others?
I already have my music distributed through Distrokid.. but I can't find the ISRC codes to add them to the metadata on my Soundcloud
They asked me for 1 at distrokid when uploading it opened another window when i used a desktop . so www.irs.org
That’s why YOU DO NOT USE THE ISRC THAT TUNECORE PROVIDES YOU. Tunecore FOR SOME REASON generates ISRC codes that cannot be tracked by SoundExchange and SoundScan WHICH MEANS YOUR LOSING MONEY . And then Cd baby provides ISRC codes that DO WORK...BUT!!! They take a huge percentage of earnings. So the next time you use Tunecore DONT USE what they GIVE YOU as far as codes and upcs..because ownership of those two things is very importantant ...there’s so much shit that goes into releasing music and so many people losing out of some good floating cash out there
Thanks💯

I can't figure out how to actually get codes from the isrc site! I have registered and paid but where on the site do you go to get the codes?
you should have seen it when you logged into your account
When I went to GS1 US which is supposed to be where you apply for a barcode, but it didn't allow me because there's nowhere to key in company & program & payment details. Does anyone know what's happening?
I understand it now. They assign you your own 3-letter isrc and then you create the code using a formula. The site does not generate the codes.
@@carlaucomedy and you keep it for life if I remember correctly
Prodjinc Music Productions I believe you are correct
So if i have my beats on UA-cam,should i have an isrc code embedded in all of my beats too?
Seems so... Only way to link the beats to you.. Otherwise someone else can use ur beat and register/get a ISRC code for it. Meaning legally it would be there beat even tho they didnt make it....
@@joonks7373 Till I take them to court lol
To answer your question. Before uploading beats you want to encode data such as your producer name songwriter information. Ill do a video showing how to encode data. The only way to prevent people from ripping your beats is to NOT upload them or release beat tapes on streaming platforms.
video is educational. If I get a isrc from tunecore but I want to make a mixtape for promo. Will tuncore provide me a isrc for that?
GEORGE G. GEMACULATE if you want ISRC codes from tunecore you have to release the project commercially
Great video. Great information

Why upon clicking the UPC Codes link, it automatically goes to Barcode Graphics website?
I’m going to do a more up to date video regarding ISRC codes stay tuned
EXTREMELY HELPFUL ! LUV U !
Thanks for the beat, drum loop Information.
Does TuneCore always encode the release year in the 6-7 digit the same as official ISRC?
Tunecore always provide you with an ISRC code for the release of your single. to encode and register watch my videos about BDS and MEdiabase
But is this only for tunecore?
No.
igobyneq thanks
You’re welcome. Thanks for your support
igobyneq thank you for spreading the information. If people like you didn’t do this then I wouldn’t have anything to be thankful for and research results would be a bit more difficult to find. So don’t forget to pay yourself on the back.
sooo which one do you pefer.....???
depends on where you are in your career. Ever song you release should have an ISRC. UPC's come when you are selling products such as CDs and merchandise, ect. A lot of distribution services will allocate upc and isrcs to your music for you. Regardless you need both at some point. I have more videos to help you understand that as well.
sweetie what im asking is should i do tunecore or ISRC ... and i saved all your videos .... unless u have new one
Thank you

if we use tunecore or CDBaby or whatever to generate those codes, espacially ISRC, they gonna have the propriety of our music! they gonna receive our money, even if it's a "free music", they will be able to generate money with (sorry for my stange english)
The upc codes you receive from Tunecore or cd baby should be kept on record. You own those. Even if you remove your songs from Tunecore or cd baby those codes remain the same. Start a spreadsheet
@@igobyneq y’all don’t research anything. The company who generated your codes owns them basically regardless. When your song is looked up your distribution company or who ever generated the codes name. This is important when dealing with royalty payments. Companies will get money for your recording and you not even know.
@@bambam2402 FYI when I say own I mean they follow your song indefinitely. I am well researched on the topic of isrc and upc codes. Nobody truly owns anything because we HAVE to use distributors to get our music on the platforms.

Yo Thank YOU!!!! :)
Happy to help!
YOU DONT NEED CD BABY OR ANY OTHER COMPANY!!!! I MUST STRESS THAT
ISRC TO
REGISTER YOURSELF!
@@ohiorichkidbeats how do i obtain a upc for a song without being a company or have proof of being sole proprietor?
@@Sephtheartist sorry about late reply but the copywrite offices issues the codes after you pay
@@Sephtheartist they can give you individual codes for every song you publish but it can get costly and takes times for the papers to come back
CD Baby and Tuncore are just to get your music out. They are distributors. You can pay for your own ISRC codes too
Good info

can you use your tunecore upc as a barcode for in store product
I've never tried it. Let me know how that works out.
