Make a 12 cm last with wood powder clay and paper clay and experiment to see if you can make tong sandals.
Wood powder clay was light and soft, dried and shrunk.
I used paper clay to adjust the size.
Paper clay is heavy and hard.
Wood powder clay and paper clay could be easily scraped with a knife.
I sharpened it with a knife, file, and sandpaper, and applied oil varnish to finish it.

As child grows, how difficult to make the last larger?

Nishimura San is a master, but I have two questions here.
1. If using wood clay, then why not mold the clay close to the shape of the foot from the start, rather than making it in sheets?
2. How strong is this to putting in nails, when making shoes? Or is this only viable for weak shoes for kids?
