@Rebecca Goldstein if it truly were Grindelwald's theme it would have played in any of his scenes of the second film but it doesn't. The themes are kinda messy in general. Basically, Howard intended for "A Man And His Beasts" to be the main theme of the series. He re-dubbed it "Fantastic Beasts Theme" for the piano solo, but fans like to mis-label it the "MACUSA theme" because it plays so prominently in the scene where Tina and Newt enter the main hall. Originally, that theme was supposed to open the film as well, right after the obligators Hedwig's Theme statement, but since Yates sometimes doesn't know jackshit about filmmusic, he didn't want Howard to put the main theme in the Main Titles. They tried literally EVERY other theme of the score and finally settled for that little fanfare that also opens "Inside The Case". Then, during all the reshoots where they decided to stuff Grindelwald into the film, Yates changed his mind again and Howard had to come up with something new. Thus, this opening theme was born. It serves no real purpose in the first film (it does appear in "Billywig" and "The Demiguise and the Lollipop" so it could have been intended as a second main theme). The comparison between Grindelwald and Voldemort are stupid. They are both good characters with a different story, goals and methods. They are both feared in all the world (yes, Voldemort was feared in all the world, confirmed by Rowling) and they are BOTH manipulative, powerful and skilled. Voldemort's story is about a man who couldn’t escape his insecurities and shame. He was an outcast as a child and his father abandoned him. This led to his irrational hatred towards Muggles, and his desire to avoid the fate that had took his mother away. The implications that his mother willingly chose to die pushed him into seeking immortality. Notice upon entering the magical world he is envious of anyone who has ties to powerful wizarding status (Gringotts vaults, Hogwarts founder artifacts) because they make him feel he doesn’t belong as much as they do. So he steals them and lies about his Muggle past. That is great development for a villian that is pure evil. Grindelwald was an adolescent friend of Albus Dumbledore and that the two of them planned to establish a new world order, where wizards would rule over Muggles "for the greater good". Another one of their goals was to seek out the three fabled Deathly Hallows. However, Dumbledore's brother Aberforth argued against these plans, because he feared their grand ambitions would leave his disabled sister, Ariana, abandoned. The argument culminated in a three-way battle between Albus, Aberforth, and Grindelwald. Ariana was inadvertently killed by one of them. Grindelwald fled, fearing retribution. Henceforth, Albus ended his relationship with him. They are both interesting. In Harry Potter, there is no plot without Voldemort and in Fantastic Beasts there is no plot without Grindelwald
I don't really get what you mean. You say the comparisons are stupid and then you come with two great paragraphs about their respective story, and add another comparison at the very end. Like, where's the correlation between what you said at the beginning of your comment and the rest? And finally, that's like saying there's no plot at all without Dumbledore, Newt, Harry (yes, Neville could have been the one chosen by Voldemort but fact is that he's not Harry), Hermione, etc. I ain't saying that what you said is stupid because I agree with this, but I just don't understand why you'd mention it because it's pretty obvious.
I like Grindelwald better than Voldemort because unlike Voldemort, I actually believe it when he says that he would be a merciful ruler of both the Wizarding World and the Muggle World. Sure, I don't like how he was going to execute his vision for the future of the Wizarding World, no doubt about that. But his motivations are understandable because DUDE PREDICTED WW2! If Grindelwald was planning to stop things like WW2 from happening, and thus, stop the Muggles from creating a massive power imbalance between them and the Wizarding World, then, I'm all for "ruling" both the Wizarding World and the Muggle World *if* that was what it takes to stop things like WW2 from happening. But, I recognize that it's too extreme, what Grindelwald was proposing. He's like what would've happened if an anarchist and Killmonger from the MCU's Black Panther movie had a baby. Unlike Voldemort, he doesn't see Muggles as "lesser" or "sub-human" or anything like that. He just sees that they are of *different* value. They have a *different* place in Grindelwald's Wizarding World (likely becoming slaves to their pure-blooded Wizard or Witch over Lords/Ladies, but I digress). If I existed in the Wizarding World and I somehow became Supreme Mugwump of the International Confederation of Wizards, I'd probably make like King T'Challa from after the events of the MCU's first Black Panther movie, and move to create a Wizarding World where the International Statute of Secrecy isn't necessary anymore and Witches and Wizards of *all* kinds and from *all* backgrounds could do magic around Muggles and freely mate with or marry Muggles without extreme backlash from the Muggle communities of the world. I'd basically bring about Grindelwald's vision for the Wizarding World, but execute it in a different way, a way that isn't as cruel as Grindelwald's.
There was a lot of complainant about casting Johnny Depp as Grindelwald but I think he nailed it! He was both frightening and persuasive but in a very thrilling sort of way!

3:12 *brings out the Elder Wand*

Love it 😍😍
That buildup from 06:56 till 07:27 is godlike
Best intro of any Harry Potter/ Fantastic Beasts film!
Probably the best scene I've ever seen on film
2:24 I love that bit so dark and it makes you think the prisoners are like banging on the prison bars.
I'm going to die in the cinema >.
Cool, it will add to the excitement of the movie ;)
Same
Do you need a medic bag?!?
There was a lot of complainant about casting Johnny Depp as Grindelwald but I think he nailed it! He was both frightening and persuasive but in a very thrilling sort of way!
The movie was FANTASTIC!
It was absolutely fantastic!!!!!!
Love the whole song but from 5:24 it gives me goosebumbs till the end :)
I just watched the movie.
It was simply F A N T A S T I C !
Best movie of 2018 ❤️
IW is arguably the best in 2018
5:40 my absolute favourite :D
5:47 always gives me chills
The women singing during the first minute is my favourite part of the whole soundtrack! Is there any other song where there’s singing like this?
Victoria T There is something similar in Nagni's theme
@@RamonBdeOdeS Hm I couldnt find it, though I did notice theres the exact same singing at the middle to end of Leta´s Flashback!
Spread the Word and Wands Into Earth
Lilys theme in the deathly hallows part 2 ;)
Best music part of the movie, first minute is so good, and also listen to 7:12
Piece of advice, everyone: Do not listen the critics, they're idiots. Both the movie and its soundtrack are fantastic!
They like weaklings and crybabys
Phelipi Máximo I heard about what critics were saying, also that the ending is an absolute plot hole that made changes to all the Potter movies. Seriously i don’t know who’s more stupid: me for believing in that crap or the critics. Seriously I spent months(didn’t watch it in cinema) believing this movie was bad because of brain dead critics 🤦🏻♂️
It was Fantastic!... beasts
They have points though, like the McGonagall plot hole and the title being misleading, I love the film, but it is not flawless by any means, just go watch Seamus Foreman's video, it explains it better than I could
Yes!👍
The scene when Grindelwald was taken from between the other prisoner’s cells and they shout his name...... The opening was freaking awesome
5:43
Jesus Christ this part was epic, watching him use the elder wand and turn the lightning into a fucking whip practically!
The build up from 6:55 to 7:13 is incredible! I get chills once the main title plays. Phenomenal score!
"This is the day you will always remember as the day you almost caught Captain Ja... I mean, the Dark Mage Gellert Grindelwald !"
Don't listen to the critics! This movie is amazing! It might not be as up beat as the commercials show, but it is SO good that I bought it myself and have watched four times this week! 😂
04:20 what?? Duel of fantastic beasts? :) A great influence of the Force I can feel!

5:43-5:55
7:10-7:40
The escape scene with Grindelwald gave me goosebumps after listening to this song a few times before seeing the movie
0:20 the moment i heard those innocent voices i was convinced that this would be a villian, who is not only a genius, not only in posession of the elder wand, but also a man who knows Dumbledores every secret, his childhood and his weaknesses.
Getting chills just listening to the soundtrack of this scene, it was SO powerful in the theater
05:47 Wow those voices in the background come to shiver every body hair
The opening of the film was everything 🔥 I still remember it almost every hour
The opening sequence and his escape was one of the best moments in the whole wizarding world franchise!
Best god damn sequence ever. Grindelwald is amazing.
I have never seen a more epic magical Prison escape before in Film history! This scene was absolutely amazing and the music is great! James Newton Howard is truly EPIC!
4:30 ... So Star Wars-y
You mean John Williams
Someone trying to bring John Williams back to the wizarding world at last
Well John Williams is the original composer of the series and while the other composers did there own thing as well, many use similar concepts to him as a way to keep a consistent tone in the series.
5:47 This part gives me goosebumps! SO COOL!
This movie soundtrack always gives me goosebumps and this scene is one of my absolute favorites from the HP/FB movies.
Here's my favorite moments from this soundtrack:
0:19 - 1:05
3:13 - 4:44
5:18 - 5:23
5:44 - 6:03
6:11 - 6:25
7:01 - 8:05
When the credits rolled out it was just *amazing.*
5:46 It's sound like 🎶🎶 Grindelwald Grindelwald, Dumbledore, Grindelwald Grindelwald, Dumbledore Dumbledore 🎶🎶.
I imagine a great introduction scene! I can't wait!
Throws lizard-creature out of the carriage
*Ultimate savagery*
@mister XY how do u know that?
Still poor creature
@@plasmatic3223 question
Relates to the main title and the contrast to Newt. Newt studies and cares for fantastic beasts while Grindelwald thinks of them as disposable
To be blunt the thestral chase was my whole favorite scene in the movie
The best score and the best chasing scene EVER😍
I love the tone of this opening sequence. It really shows how dark the film gets + Grindelwald's sneaky strategy. So amazing...
My parents didn't let me listen to this until I watched the movie first. Totally worth the wait, thank you! That just made it all the more amazing!
Just a week left ♥♥. Ohh God how can I wait 😍😍😍
7:02 just fantastic ! But seriously always reminds me of a Halloween theme ost
2:25 Grindelwald second theme
5:43 loved this part on the film

5:43 and on is amazing!
7:10 is worthy of a Studio Ghibli film. Magical
JN Howard is an absolute genius! I am so very happy that the score of the franchise is on his hands. I think this will bring development and continuity to the total series.
7:00 that's the fantastic beasts Theme
the moment the opening credits start and the choir is singing those three notes. as the camera goes by the wizarding world logo and the WB logo. this definitely wasn’t going to be a happy journey. LOVE IT. and the way james newton uses the original theme just so lightly, youre reminded its about to be a dark and magical journey
Ooohhh is saw it today and the movie was soooo gooodddd!!!!!
Wrong it's a terrible movie...and I will give u my reasons why I thought this movie was garbage
