When I saw the new Beckham documentary on Netflix, I was hoping they would capture the Greece goal the way this video did. Nope. 11 years later and this piece is still the greatest tribute to one of the greatest heaven-on-earth moments in sports history.
This video doesn’t do justice just how much Beckham dragged England through that game, every single blade of grass was covered by him- he made tackle after tackle, winning the ball constantly and single handedly (even before the free kick) dragged us through - what a true legend
I’ve just got a red card for my local team for swearing at ref (but I was playing good so I was annoyed) and my dad told me I lost us that game I’ve came here to watch this to inspire me the be better and be the best on the pitch next game
I think it's really funny that this is considered such an important moment in the history of English football. Even if Beckham had not scored, England would have still been able to qualify via the play offs. On the other hand, this game can be looked at as a turning point for Greece, who has qualified for every major tournament after the 2002 World Cup, except one. They also happened to win one of those tournaments, something that can't be said for their English opponents. This game could arguably be considered more a seminal moment for "lowly" Greece (as they were referred to during this video) than England…..

Exactly, one of the greatest performances ever bar none by DB
still watching this goal in 2018
I'm 27 and he's still my hero. Should have gave him 1 more world cup.
When you talk about free-kicks or even long passes this is the man...
BEND IT LIKE BECKHAM
How about Roberto Carlos...take nothing away from becks...but that fk vs France...Barthez is having hallucinations 2 this day

Respect goes a long way
One of the best moments ever in football
Agree...given the circumstances
What was the original video that this was from?

They were losing 2-1 to Greece and needed a draw to qualify for the World Cup
