Quote:
"We must keep the spirit of budo no matter how we practice."
Q: You were one of the earlier uchideshi at the Aikikai. What year did you start?
A: When I joined as an uchideshi only Tamura Sensei and Arikawa Sensei were there. Yasuo Kobayashi was still in college. He came to the dojo every day. I entered when I was 17. I am 53 now, so it must have been 1955.

Stating that the hardest hit always wins is quite incorrect joint locks are more effective in my opion some people can take alot of blunt force before being nocked out but slap a wrist lock on and with little force the joint is useless and broken and now you can no longer be punched my that arm dont get me wrong hitting is effective when used correctly and as long as you study what you love thats what really matters i study aikido classical judo and jujitsu goju karate it all depends on ur skil
Thank you for sharing such a great video!. Pleasure to watch such a great techniques, especially slow downs :).
" a well-trained boxer would probably smash an Aikido Master"
bravo, spoken like a true keyboard warrior
coooooooool
of course, this is amazing video. However, you demonstrate poor ettiqutte in posting video that costs money without contacting these world class instructors. I have been lucky enough to take ukemi from most of these instructors, and have stayed at NYA with Yamada sensei. It is very inappropriate to post their videos fully here.
The pain of being the uke of repeated koshi-nage throws. I've seen a soft ukemi for the katatetori koshi nage throws where the uke just seems to slide off, rolling on the ground but I could never do it. Was Donovan put in a position where it couldn't be done?
Well, yes, certainly the focus is on a harmonious & peaceful difuse to an attack. But Kano had done similarly with Judo, even more so, since its now sport oriented!
{not quite sure what your getting at......your point?}
no that was very aiki style! Where do you think these arts have come from? Do you suppose that these techniques may have evolved from a common ancestor?
Aikido comes from Daito Ryu - Aiki Jujitsu & Judo from Tenjin Shin'yō-ryū - Jujitsu!
Very similar styles!!!
I dont mean to be rude, but you really owe it to yourself & the forebarers of the martial knowledge, to aknowledge, know & understand the history/lineage of these arts!
Aikido works great in a grappling situation; but not all styles are the same... a well-trained boxer would probably smash an Aikido Master... (and gosh- i hate boxers)--- just remember to modify your style against your opponent... be as water.
CLAVICULA, COTOVELO, OMBRO, TIBIA , VERTEBRA,
TUDO VAI PRO ESPAÇO, POR ISSO QUE AIKIDO É PROIBIDO COMPETIR.
as with most martial arts, the opponent is compliant. If they were really fighting you would not succeed. The only way to learn to fight is with real opponents, where you will get hurt.
very good, thanks. techniques are important, theory more important, budo even more important. thanks again.
Awesome techniques Sensei Yamada! My hope is to get to that level someday in time. Thank you for all your support in my introduction to Aikido. I hope someday to meet you at New York Aikiki. I patiently look forward to that special day. Thank you.

great koshinage technics thnx very much...
Muy buen video, gracias por subirlo
hey buddy, i'm no keyboard warrior... i'm a ranking TKD master, but in a battle between a boxer and an aikido master, the hardest hit will always win... these are different styles... hard style versus soft style... it's the science of violence.
parabens nota mil, perfeitos
This is some beautiful stuff. Coming from a non-aikido background in martial arts, the circular movement from aikido has definitely influenced what we do in our system today. The use and manipulation of balance and energy by Yamada Sensei
Excellent video and demonstration.
muito otimo, ass brasil
