Did you not think it was a possibility that Archie could be sold Joe? I get most including myself would rather him stay but as we know these things happen we’ve seen it many many times over the years. The club has to sell before end of the month and unfortunately no bids have come in for anyone else other than Archie.
We can’t count the full £60m from RB in this years accounts - the portion for sponsorship has to go in next years - we don’t know what value the investment, which can go this year, is. Based on the value of the ongoing sponsorship in years 2 forward, a very large portion of the £60m is sponsorship. No more than £10m of equity purchase imo.
Though strangely, RB’s entire sponsorship across all of their sporting interests last year was £60m. Real Madrid have the world’s largest sponsorship deal with Emirates and that’s only €70m. Their deal with Barcelona is only £5m a season….

Supporting the club and players are not mutually exclusive.
Keeping hold of Archie for a few more years means he'll be able to help us in the short term and sell him for more, makes the most sense all round.
Archie is not just a young player, he's Leeds stock through and through. Some things are more valuable than money, at least on the short term.

Joe, I see the passion mate and the Leeds fan in me wanted Archie to stay and blossom in Leeds. The reality is different though, I don’t think Paraag mislead us, he was upfront when asked about Archie and to be fair the price was way too good to turn down. I believe the team will be stronger for this upcoming season and hopefully when we establish ourselves in the prem and consistently challenge for Europe, perhaps then we can keep our talents. Until then we should accept reality. My humble opinion!
The only Europe we're seeing anytime soon is Cardiff and Swansea.

the only way we would have kept Archie is if we had acceptable offers on the table for Gnonto and Summerville by now. Paraag diplomatically sidestepped the question about selling Archie because he knew we might have to. Only problem is, we could have got away with selling 2 out of 3 of them, if the timings were right (keeping Archie) but now looks like all 3 will be going as Summerville and Gnonto likely WANT to leave but will take a bit longer. I’m with you Joe, not everything is about making money. In the good old days, legends like Matt Le Tissier pledged their allegiance to Southampton, and that was looked upon as a massive sacrifice when he could have joined Liverpool, Man Utd and all the other big teams of the time for the money. To all of you that are talking about "Side before self", "no player is bigger than the club" etc. You've got a player there who will be one of the best players of his generation who will put the club first before his own interests. In a world full of arrogant, greedy, selfish narcissistic footballers, we have one who will be a top level player and who is a fan like us. How on earth can you say you are "side before self" when you are backing the forcing out of a player who loves Leeds and has the talent to take Leeds to the top?
The arguments make no sense, if you really cared about the club. You would care about people who would make decisions in the best interest of the club, Archie is one of those. You would be especially interested in keeping them around. @@nicbongo that number has been known and widely reported by real credible finance pundits and journalists for weeks, not just rumour and social media speculation mills. Also, anyone with knowledge of what we owed and what we sold can easily do the maths. We needed to sell somewhere between 30-40 mil before July 1 to be in compliance with PSR. If it wasn't coming from a flood of smaller sales only two players could draw that type of dosh---Summer and Gray. It's apparent from this that Summer is valued higher than Gray by the club and no one had put in a matching offer for him. The reported total of 40 mil for Gray is insane business for an 18yo who has never played in the top flight, and has only had one real first team breakout season---and he was not even our best player. It is what it is.

Said this weeks ago. Bought a minority stake, which is anywhere between 1% & 49%. People on about £60m seem to be under the impression it was sponsorship, which is the ONLY way it can be used on the pitch. Whatever the sponsorship is, it will be across x amount of seasons, not 1 .
