      @@vanessajenkins4888 awesome! I just had mine 2 days ago and nerve pain is gone, just incision site soreness. Dr said he wants me to do some physical therapy to help regain nerve function. 10 years of fluctuating sciatica pain is by far the worst I've ever experienced. I wish you the best.

    I am three weeks post surgery. I have stayed pretty much inactive lying in bed and getting up for bathroom trips. My foot paralysis now gone. My increased leg pain is gone. My pre op pain and sciatica from 20 years ago is still present. With proper meds I can live with that I endorse the microdisctomy. I am very pleased with outcome. Please consider this surgery and keep your expectations hopeful for significant pain reduction.

    I had surgery for l4-l5 and l5-s1 on both the levels 2 months ago , for the first month i got pain in legs as well as numbness , but now things are improving drastically, i have started to feel very normal. I am 28 years old btw.
    Also things u cam try to have complete successful surgery as per my experience -
    1. Have a balanced diet , absolutely no junk food .
    2. Physiotherapy exercises everyday.
    3. Walking evrryday
    4. Swimming couple of days of week after 6 weeks of surgery

      @@sunty1 I am feeling fantastic now , it's my 5 month now , I am working full time job since last one month , there is no issue at all , it's just that after sitting for 30-40 minutes continuously, I get up and walk for 2-5 mins as advised by my doc, if I sit continuously for 2-3 hours there is a slight pain in the area where surgery for informed , so it's advisable to walk every now and then after prolonged sitting. The leg pain is completely gone , if you are facing any problem just go for the surgery, don't worry about anything

    Had a l4l3 discectomy a few weeks ago. Pain has not changed from before the operation. My main problem was that it took me over 2 months to convince the medical profession that I was was in pain. They wanted me to go to physical therapy even before they would give me a MRI. I spent 2 months living in a recliner in my family room. The muscles in my body wasted away. Now i not only have the pain, I have weakness all over. Still living in my recliner. 80 years old and ready for the grave.

    All the videos of people having this surgery posting on UA-cam, are young, does it work for someone 72 years old? I hurt a disc years ago, and it is getting worse, finally thinking about getting something done.

      @maciejguzek3442 10 місяців тому +1

      did you do something? First thing is correct diagnosis of what really is the problem, you shouldnt save on MRI or other detailed diagnostics. My late mom tripped and broke her kneecap, and only after a few months we figured out her real problem was broken (damaged/crushed) vertebrae, and osteoporosis. She got vertebroplastics surgery and got efficient osteoporosis treatment (denozumab) . At this occasion I learned shocking numbers of elderly ladies do not even know they have osteoporosis and damaged spine.

    I'm going on 2 years out from my L5 S1 microdiscectomy. Most of the time I am living with pain. Often, I have a feeling like there is a needle stuck in my back. Sometimes, one wrong move will make my back hurt so bad I'll be useless for a few days or even a full week and I will moan in pain just trying to get out of bed. My strength is unreliable. Once an avid weightlifter, now I'm afraid to do anything because even one slightly wrong move handling a day to day object in hand can trigger the week long debilitating pain.
    Sometimes I wonder if surgery was worth it. They pain I had before was much worse pain but it would come and go. I'd have it for a couple weeks, then I'd be totally normal for a few weeks, sometimes months. Now, I seem to always have some degree of pain.
    Been considering going in to see what else could be done, but I don't want to end up worse yet.

      Update for all that asked. For a brief time, things were okay, I felt good, was getting strong again. Now I get frequent almost total numbness of the leg that formerly hurt so bad. It's like my entire leg just disappears from under me. Happened while walking down stairs once. You can imagine how that turned out. Me, knocked out on the bottom of the stairs. Primary doctor wants me to go to the MRI again and head for another surgery. I don't know. I guess this is life now.
