Idea for your stripped bolt: Use a wheel cutter to cut a slit into the head of the bolt, where you can then get a flat head screw driver onto the head and break it free. Just make sure you make the slit on the bolt head deep enough for your flathead to have plenty of surface area to grab onto.
This is the easiest way ✌
Or just drill the bolt in the middle and it will break
Can’t believe mechanics shops couldn’t do that fix. So many easy ways to get it out, drill it out till it snaps, cut a slot in it and unscrew it etc….
Great idea.
^^^THIS, or weld onto it. I would have it off in 10 minutes, crazy a shop turned him away for that?!?!
I love when you hop the curbs!! I don’t know who would say they don’t like it? That’s all part of the fun of having a bike!! Yay dude keep up the great riding 🚲🚵 Love it! ❤
Grab a torxs socket that a bit bigger than the bolt, smack it in with a hammer until the torxs grabs, then with a ratchet take it off. You can also grab extractor bits for harbor freight and do the same process
What my comment was gonna be. That is also how we remove stripped lug nuts and wheel locks by hammering a smaller socket onto the nut! 👍🏽💪🏾
I love watching your videos, I'm talking about Brazil and you manage to convey the reality of the two from Los Angeles. Thanks!
😉✌
You can do what a couple of other commenters said or you can use a screw extractor or reverse drill bits. Both of these tools are easily available online. Use lubricant beforehand. The bolt looked to be aluminum or some other soft metal so the extractor of reverse bits should work well. If you hit the threads inside you'll want a tap to clean it up. Sorry to hear other fabricators wouldn't help.
Hey John its Mike the firefighter in chicago , most of those removal ideas are good but a big trick I learned working on my bikes was put the other bolt back in tighten it down to relieve some pressure on that strip side and then try to remove it !!!
To remove the bolt get a small circular dremil and cut a thin line on the bottom only big enough for a small flat screwdriver and use that new hole with a screw driver to remove the bolt. You may have to hammer the screw. Take your time and be careful. Or just get to to any mtb shop and they should know what to do
23:02 those are super famous stairs and handrail from skate videos 30 years ago, and even today.
"Don't go down this alley." 🤣 Love your videos, man! 🤙
Definitely some more Sirron videos would be cool
John, it has been a minute. You is back dude😎
Big John, thanks for another great ride, i have to say i kind of like your new Emtb ,but still a great ride!!! Peace ✌ out my friend
There's a million ways to get that out. Start with a snug fitting flathead screw driver and soak prior with some wd40. It's not rounded , should come out easily. Avoid the last resort of a welder, that's waayyyy too extreme for something so simple. If the screw driver doesn't work, get a set of extractors, $10, worth having a set around as well.
Love E-bikes and Love LA best combinations
Your really brave doing what you do
Loved the video man can we get more videos like these they are fire
Take it to a bike shop instead of auto shop WOOOW MIND BLOWN 🤯 💣!
Another Surron vid 🔥🔥🔥🙏🏾🐐
Best option in my opinion would be to weld it onto another piece of metal and twist it out that way .
Looks like a t30 L socket!! Weld the socket to the bolt n wallah!!
Always reminded me of Star wars hover bike thingy 😮
Heat it up and buy a set of easy outs,or dremel a “flat line” in it and use heat again and a flat head screw driver
Try going up in sizes of hex keys and ideally the socket style. Hammer it right on it to the tightest fit possible. Sometimes even a torx bit can back em out. Put some grease on them bolts and save yourself.
The tool you need is called an easy-out, and a hot soldering gun to heat the threads up......those shops didn't know wtf they were doing If they can't remove a stripped bolt that's exposed like that..that's scary, and I wouldn't trust them with any vehicle lol.
Two days ago I tried to bunnyhop a curb, caught my front wheel, and ate s**t on the cobble. Rode the next day at 50. Lets go bikes!
Yes more surron!
Go to any home improvement store to buy a stripped screw remover.
It’s basically a hardened drill tip screws into the bolt. Once’s it’s got a good bite on the screw, put your drill in reverse and it pulls the stripped screw out with it
Enjoyed watching be safe
Thanks for your bold riding in LA.
I usually get a bolt file make two little dents on the bolt and use a flat head or even a pocket knife and just twist it off, if its really tight you can use a flat head drill and its easier that way. If its slippery you can try and use sandpaper for a little grip on the bolt. good luck
Some skillful riding good sir.
find a regular nut (most likely metric in your case) and have someone weld the inside of the nut onto/into the boogered up socket of that bolt. Then use a 6 point socket to remove the nut and bolt at the same time. If the nut snaps off, reweld it and try again. Avoid drilling it out if you can.
Look for UA-cam videos on stud extraction. You’ll need a steady hand, a drill and “stud extractor” to match the hole you drill in the bolt. It’s about an hour’s patient work. If you can get to the other end of the snapped bolt it’s even easier as you’re drilling into a flat surface. I’d do it for you for a pint but I’m in the UK.😂
Surron is 👑.... is that a scooter or a bike 😂
seriously though…please replace the stock foot pegs!!!! they are dangerous in wet conditions(thankfully SO-Cal is dry)..i have Titanium screws(5) and a plate(1)in my shoulder to prove it….please replace those pegs:) thanks for the video and stay/ride safe:)
Get those foam inserts for your tires. They will save you from flats. Also weld an Alan wrench to that stripped bolt to remove it
yes he's riding the surron🎉
More Surron!
Maybe try a Tap & Die set. I can’t remember if that’s what I used to get a stripped bolt off my bike way back in the day but let us know in an upcoming video what worked. FYI, I would never take $100 from someone for advice. Maybe if I did it myself. Thanks for the ride out bro. 💯
Really good promo for Surron! Got me looking them up..
I'm a handyman in crestline California I could easily drill and tap it out. You could also grind a straight line it and use a flathead screwdriver 🪛
Regarding the striped out screw, I always just weld on an allen key with a socket
No need to cut or weld. Just get a hex screw or bolt removing kit from any local car parts store and trust me I've done it on my sport bike with all 4 fork bolts stripped like that!
Which Surron is this?
you can have someone cover up everything around it and just weld another bolt on top of. and it'll come out by unscrewing the bolt welded onto it
Spot weld a head, or job weld a new bolt into it. Heat from a lighter torch, and hammer tap it. I would enjoy the challenge for free. I used to work in Saugus.
I'm positive my friend in Long Beach can fix it. I had a ton of things wrong with my 2016 Motoped Pro 125...
He's a genius
Yayyy a surron video
Use a square easy-out. Most specialty screw and bolt shops will have one.
If you have a torx head (star) socket slightly larger than the Allen you can hammer the torx socket into it enough and it will grab
A lot of not so good advice here. John you by a smaller drill bit drill into it about a quarter inch in then get what is called a tap easy out. You put it in the whole you drilled and then turn it backwards the bolt screws right out. I have had to do this many times with motorcycles. Harley's and British motorcycles are notorious for breaking and stripping bolts. You can do it.
Buy an easy out kit, drill a small pilot hole in the snapped bolt then put the easy out in it
Reverse drill bit just large enough to fit the head of the cap bolt. It'll dig into the head and spin it out!
You can drill the screw out. I've done it before. The stripped head sometimes breaks off.
get a close enough sized allen key, a soldering iron and solder it in the bolt all the way around and twist, should get it out or enough to come lose
At home Depot they sell a bit that is used in bathroom stalls it has a reverse grip do you even have a rigorous grip kit for screws like that if nothing else cut a slot with a hacksaw and use a screwdriver when you start twisting you might want to add a little bit of heat to it not a lot just from like a small butane lighter small torch not the big crackhead torch
Eazy out will have that bolt out in no time, or weld something to it!
I'd use an easy out on that stripped bolt.
If a good Surron popped up on my local Marketplace for 2k I'd be trying to buy it.
They sell stripped bolt extractors in any hardware store or even auto zone that will do the job 💪🏽
you can weld a nob to the bolt, then twist the knob and unthread it with no damage. They can do that in like 4 minutes.
Nice content 😊
"I got poop in my eyes" lmaooooooo
what ?! how come nobody got that out ? i got out 3 out of my fork :)) use a 3 mm drill to make a hole in the middle of the bolt than use a 2.5 mm bolt extractor to take it out . Be careful with the extractor because you might snap that one inside too. with the right tool will be easy ,if you use a drill make sure you use the low speed on it. Hope it helps .
its just a 5 buck stripped bolt puller drill it out and use the stript bolt bit in a impact tool and yer done "Stripped or Damaged Screws Extractor Set, Stripped Screw & Broken Bolt Remover Set, Easily Remove Damaged Screw $7.99"
I’ve been here since the M3 I started watching because I also had a M3 and ride bikes but it’s been few years
I remember that alley with loud speaker. Probably the person who owns it probably not there anymore. They probably moved out or went out of business.
It’s crazy how much litter there is all over the city. Does no one clean it up?
Bro buy a left handed drill bit that fits in the head of the bolt and run a drill in reverse it should come out 🤞
Should have pulled up to the Original Tommy's for a burger on your tour.
Place a nut over the stripped bolt and throw some weld in the center then use a wrench after it cools down...
Can’t beat Surron aftermarket
How much did you pay for yur surron ?
Awesome all together!
Jon’s next title video “Sur Ron ride with Subscriber”
There is also the new Grand Highlander.
Drill a hole in the center of the bolt and use an easy out ..
I hope you got your bike back years ago
Try a product called a easy out. That should get that fastener out of your fork.
Personally I would spot welder Rod to it and at least you would get some damn leverage on it
i have removed a lower fork pinch bolt from a set of magnesium lower fox 40s in under an hour but im in bc canada 🥰
You gotta be careful on that pathway by echo park. There used to be gang bangers sometimes groups of 10 plus hanging out there and drinking.
and if you have an visegrip pliers should work too
weld a bolt to the rounded, or drill it out
Man put the other bolt back in a tighten it then hammer one size bigger into the one that is stripped put some heat on it with a torch then get it out probably locktight on that bolt
Find a welder. Have him weld a short hex head bolt into the striped out head of the damage bolt. Let it cool. Loosen and remove.
Do you consider "tubeless?" with the sealant?
Have you tried a easy out kit
Get somone to use a small bit drill a hole in the screw screw the screw in of that size and twist it loose
Not a brand it's a category!
Pound a torx bit into it would cost you next to nothing to buy a torx bit set and will most likely work…. Or make it worse 😂
Weld it!!!
Get a reverse byte screw or google how to remove stripped screw very cheap fix
A screw extractor would work or an easy out
There is tools that can help in those situations
Extractor bits and a wrench/drill from a hardware store should solve that issue
drill hole in bolt and get screw extractor
They dont think the reward is worth the risk of damaging your bike. You need to find a friend that has a welder at his house.
And there's another popular UA-camr in La biker he's got long hair I don't know his name he seems to do good work on his own bikes I seen you collaborate with some of the independent press you should do a collaboration with that dude and get your bike fixed
Get yourself an easy out and you shouldn't have no problem
you need an eazy out set thats pretty simple
