Fashion, clothes, these two different words make different sense. Nothing wrong that everyone has different perspective of fashion, and for me, fashion is ART!
It's humbling even writing amongst her fans you all articulate your ideas and emotions well! You guys are a testament to how amazing of a woman she really is!
paramoreguate rotfl I was just thinking about my words, please don't take what I said literally (celebrities and normal people are okay to follow their dreams, dictators and killers are not!). lol
Alonso Montero A lot of celebrities are too stupid to realize they are doing something wrong. So let's just say "People who's dreams doesn't harm any sentient being" :)
THIS IS PROOF THAT FASHION STILL LIVES!!!...Rihanna has grown to become a true fashion icon. Fashion is love fashion is life. It's in us all. #ilovefashion
I take no offense by this. What are clothes for? The core use of them is to protect our skin from harsh environments and temperatures. Then after this, to protect others and ourselves from diseases. But that's out of the context. Why is nudity and sexuality more taboo than violence? Why is it normal in tribes to expose more skin whereas in the rest of the world we cover our entire bodies? Is there an explanation for it? Why is it okay at the beach? Why is it wrong at the park? Why is it okay at a gay parade? Trust me ladies and gentlemen, 40 years from now, people will look at this the same way we look at girdles. It was inappropriate for the time period yes. It just doesn't bother me the same way it bothered many. I thought it was very elegant yet explicit.
i am so fucking sick of half the people in the comments. Rihanna is comfortable enough in her skin to wear this dress and I greatly admire her for that, let the woman show off her amazing natural beauty the way she wants to. The female body was not made to be a sex object so i do not see why so many people make it that way. She is just showing her body there is nothing wrong with that.
This is absolutely fashion, this dress is an Adam Selman dress with 216k crystals on it. It's a tribute to Josephine Baker and that's an amazing tribute Rihanna is confident with her body and she looks amazing. That's funny bcz Lady Gaga and Rihanna are the only Artists who have won an Fashion Icon Award and they both picked it almost naked! But fashion is art and see-through have always been in fashion, it's playing with the female body and making it look amazing.
I remember this look like it was yesterday. I can't believe it's been that many years! This look will never be surpassed for me, personally. Though she continues to excel in every way.
Wow I just saw the comments! I think there is people who does not know about the history of Fashion, and why we dress. Or even how in Medieval Times in Europe people used to take a bath near the rivers. How people from tropical lands embellish their body in the most sophisticated, ceremonial and serious ways. Dress has a purpose for the occasion besides any thing else and the candor and sweetness that Rihanna expressed with her gown is incredible beautiful and artistic. Please listen to the video from the beginning and listen, but really listen why she won!
Amanda Rose I am just asking. In my country , a singer should sing and dress appropriately in public like others. maybe in the US it's a standard thing to go out naked without any purpose.
She is a strong lady who has gone a step ahead to show how worth she is and how she believes in herself.....I like how she has made it on her own...go go Rihanna
A topless girl in a thong doesnt sounds like "The boldest & loudest statement in fashion this decade" if it is then come to cancun on spring break greatest fashion week of the year!!!
Gaga's meat outfit was shocking but what was the meaning? Riri's outfit screams "you can admire my body, but it's still mine". She made it clear she's not wearing it for anyone other then her
In my opinion, this dress is made for 'fashion only' a dress that accentuates the sexy curves of a sexy woman. Therefore this dress is suited for the occasion as it does honor Rihannas sense of style. With that being said, to view this dress to be inappropriate or out of context is absurd. However if this dress was used for any other purpose would be controversial as there is a standard for clothing wear in all of places.
I scrolled down hoping for comments about her acceptance speech (which was surprisingly really good!) and all I got was a debate on boob exposure -.- Seriously guys?
Nah, don't like it. It may be her way of being artistic or whatever, but still. Too much nudity these days, all about sex and being naked. Does anyone not actually want to cover up? That'd be a change. I wonder if an overweight woman wears this dress, would she be accepted too because it's just "fashion"? Or would she be ridiculed and told to cover up even though she likes being that way. Sure, Rihanna doesn't care what anyone thinks, that's cool, keep doing whatever you want..
Tony Hyon We'll both have differing opinions - personally, I'm a traditional type and believe in leaving to the imagination. I would have considered her dress real fashion if it wasn't see through. Plus its sad that children turn on the television and see stuff like this which influences them too early. That's probably why we have 5 years old having sex these days (true story btw; happened a few months ago). Yes it's the parents responsibility to monitor kids, but they'll find a way to visually see what's happening either way, and think it's "cool" to follow. You'll disagree, but after seeing Gaga, Cyrus, Minaj, and Rihanna, I'm wishing more and more we could go back to when music was Spice Girls, TLC, Destiny's Child, etc. At least they all had individual style and didn't need to let it all hang out. If I were a kid growing up in this generation, and seeing what I see now, I'd think it was cool to be this way so young- and that's sending a bad message. When kids want to listen to, and follow their favorite singer, and see them doing that. When I watched the Spice girls as a kid, I wanted to dress cool like them, so thank god they weren't showing their titties and ass.
As the experts say, sex is more psychological than physical. So if you, or anyone for that matter, see nudity it's upto the viewer to see it either as sex or as an art. I am a young straight male, and I don't find it vulgar or obscene. Yes, sex is there because of female body parts whose function is sexual stimulation, but otherwise it's more of an art. Sexy art? ;-)
Spicy Boy I disagree, sorry. It is walking sex for men and kids to get turned on by and follow, and for girls to look up to - and see? It's working. This is art for the male penis though, really. Anyone who likes the dress is liking it because a woman is basically naked, no men, or anyone really, even cares about the dress she wore, they are ONLY staring at her body parts so RiRi might as well have worn nothing. She is basically promoting sex, not fashion or art, and I'm even more convinced after seeing her shake her butt after accepting the award backstage. In my eyes, it's the equivalent of stripping, and I don't see stripping as art.
this is really offensive, accepting award almost naked and accepting it for style icon award i mean WTF , it should be forbidden ...but today everything is allowed, what money does from people A BIG CLOWNS ..what a shame
I've never really understood why people are ashamed of showing off their body...why is it wrong? She is a grown women and is given the right to dress however she wants...if this outfit is too revealing for you then why bother paying it any attention at all?
Surina C I don't care what she shows but seriously how can she accept a style award when she is not wearing anything that shows her style but it shows her body.
Surina C Thats really why she won this award, shes not afraid to wear what she wants, and she doesn't care to break the rules of fashion, because fashion says that you have to be modest and covered up and she does the opposite, its not exacly my style but i think its ok if someone else is daring enough and does it

Well done Rihanna. You deserve it and we're only young once. Enjoy your youth and your body, and the nattering numpties of negativity should just do what they do best. Complain and be negative. Lovely outfit by the way, I wish I could wear that
The Kardashians could never who else is going to have the queen of fashion Anna Wintour presenting you with a fashion icon award the one the only Rihanna
I love her. She slays in anything. People love to criticize but at the end of the day, she's the main topic. I'm sure she could care less about how yall feel or the respect she "lost." lol She's 26 with 2 Icon awards. Your opinion is obviously irrelevant. #Navy
God,She's a Glamorous DIVA!
“She could beat me…but she could not beat my outfit” that line right there saved me at a party last night 🥺❤️
y'all do know Rihanna hates bras? It’s been well documented
Wow i would have never guessed that.
Wow seriously, never realised
oh didn't even notice that
Me too! 🤗
I hate them too smh- dont blame her 🌸🌸🌸💕
Fashion, clothes, these two different words make different sense. Nothing wrong that everyone has different perspective of fashion, and for me, fashion is ART!
She looks incredible. Absolutely beautiful. And her speech was so touching
It's humbling even writing amongst her fans you all articulate your ideas and emotions well! You guys are a testament to how amazing of a woman she really is!
she is stunning literally.
Imagine that dress on Kim Kardashian... it wouldn’t be that iconic
She looks like a goddess
so much proud!
I AM SO GLAD I HAVE LIVED IN THE SAME TIME THAT RIHANNA LIVES. FOR ME ITS AN HONOUR AND A CHERISHED MOMENT!!! THANK YOU GOD FOR RIHANNA!!!!
mufasa's daughter her new music sucks people need to stop idolizing these losers
MrFreefonix shut up idiot.
im not the one idolizing a celebrity thefore your point is invalid
MrFreefonix go fuckyourself
Well I may not be a fan of that dress but I'm very happy she's living her dreams. In the end that's the only thing that really matters.
I agree... it is not like we have never seen boobs before... haters are going to hate anyway...
So if someone's dream is to kill a bunch of people and he/she is happy it's ok?
paramoreguate rotfl I was just thinking about my words, please don't take what I said literally (celebrities and normal people are okay to follow their dreams, dictators and killers are not!). lol
Alonso Montero A lot of celebrities are too stupid to realize they are doing something wrong. So let's just say "People who's dreams doesn't harm any sentient being" :)
paramoreguate Couldn't say it better myself!
THIS IS PROOF THAT FASHION STILL LIVES!!!...Rihanna has grown to become a true fashion icon.
Fashion is love fashion is life. It's in us all.
#ilovefashion
I love everything about this, her speech is so natural and she looks incredible 😮😮
How could she be a queen and a badass at the same time?
Hello 👋 Alexa
How are you doing?
I thought it was very elegant yet explicit.
well said
Exactly!!
InJeansWords You are absolutely right.👍
exactly
You said it greatest!
i am so fucking sick of half the people in the comments.
She dresses for the occassion! The outfit rocked the low lit ambience.
Rihanna, with that Bajan accent, she is the coolest! That dress was gorgeous on her!
So proud of her
And now she's CEO of her own empire. #FENTY 👑
Very iconic moment..... 👏 👌 🙌 ✨ this dress should in the museum for real..
WOW, she's dazzling and the way, that the dress sparkled when the light hits it, is just amazing
I remember this look like it was yesterday. I can't believe it's been that many years! This look will never be surpassed for me, personally. Though she continues to excel in every way.
she is just waooooooooow whatever she wear is justttt dope on her
Wow I just saw the comments!
Is this fashion? Is this art? is she a singer? a porn star?
This is absolutely art and confidence.. she shines bright and that's fashion now
Louisa Taylor its not fashion when u show r body
Why can't we have both?
Amanda Rose I am just asking. In my country , a singer should sing and dress appropriately in public like others. maybe in the US it's a standard thing to go out naked without any purpose.
Look up 16 century art Im pretty sure you'll find out it's nothing but art at its best.
She is a strong lady who has gone a step ahead to show how worth she is and how she believes in herself.....I like how she has made it on her own...go go Rihanna
She’s looks extremely good 😍😍😍
Yall didnt say nothing when Cher was naked
They Did! This inspiring of..
Because she is white .
This dress beats out Lady Gaga's VMA meat dress as the boldest & loudest statement in fashion this decade!
Or the most slutty and classless??
A topless girl in a thong doesnt sounds like "The boldest & loudest statement in fashion this decade" if it is then come to cancun on spring break greatest fashion week of the year!!!
Hateme cuz its not what your wearing, its how you wear it
Nah I don't think any outfit can beat Lady Gaga's meat dress.
Gaga's meat outfit was shocking but what was the meaning? Riri's outfit screams "you can admire my body, but it's still mine". She made it clear she's not wearing it for anyone other then her
She's gorgeous and that dress is stunning! I can't wait to see her at TheMonsterTour
I swear to god I watch this video every year at least 5x cause I just love everything about her.
Rihanna is so beautiful!!
In my opinion, this dress is made for 'fashion only' a dress that accentuates the sexy curves of a sexy woman. Therefore this dress is suited for the occasion as it does honor Rihannas sense of style. With that being said, to view this dress to be inappropriate or out of context is absurd. However if this dress was used for any other purpose would be controversial as there is a standard for clothing wear in all of places.
she was soo nervous at first got me nervous
What a goddess.
Omg I am shook and liiterally crying at that dress. The most amazing piece ive ever seen & only she could encapsulate its intended beauty.
2021 now. And Fenty is flourishing. Rihanna is now worth 1.7 billion.. and she did that!!!!
I scrolled down hoping for comments about her acceptance speech (which was surprisingly really good!) and all I got was a debate on boob exposure -.- Seriously guys?
*some people have taste but no money*
*some people have money with no style*
*i could say always be creative*
*I love you RiRi* 💎💕💋✨✨✨
She`s definitely gorgeous and an icon fashion.... I love her style since always
When I saw it for the fist time in 2014 I was shocked and then I saw picture of her in this dress in 2020 and I was stunned. Love her!
Rihanna, I love you and all of the style trends that only you could pull off. Stay thriving and killing the world with your fashion
She is very nice ♥
Nah, don't like it. It may be her way of being artistic or whatever, but still. Too much nudity these days, all about sex and being naked. Does anyone not actually want to cover up? That'd be a change.
I wonder if an overweight woman wears this dress, would she be accepted too because it's just "fashion"? Or would she be ridiculed and told to cover up even though she likes being that way.
Sure, Rihanna doesn't care what anyone thinks, that's cool, keep doing whatever you want..
Cover up for WHAT? Everybody is covered up most of the time. Take if OFF, I say.
why is nudity seen vulgar ? its natural- we all know what boobs and ass and dicks and etc looks like.
I
Surina C Thats really why she won this award, shes not afraid to wear what she wants, and she doesn't care to break the rules of fashion, because fashion says that you have to be modest and covered up and she does the opposite, its not exacly my style but i think its ok if someone else is daring enough and does it
kiimiLol lol ik..I think she has an incredible sense of style...
No one could have digest this dress like the way she did: perfect balance of glamour, sexy, edgy,
She is beautiful inside and out. Keep singing and rocking that style! Love from Georgia
