As a Rangers fan, that was a sweet as it got in those days! I remember Lindros's first game as a Ranger against NJ - that was the night I became a fan of his, when, late in the game, he and Stevens were driving near the boards and Lindros nailed him into the boards with a hard hit! And he won every single fist fight. Every hit Stevens did was dirty or when Lindros was making a move with head down. In todays game Steven don't make it 2 seasons without being banned. He always altered his body to hit the head. Lindros hit you in your core and still demolished you. Not to mention Lindros could fly man.

No doubt about it, Stevens was a pos, but an effective one. A bunch of late hits and high ones, BUT at the time those where hockey plays. Nobody cared about the effects it had on players, and I'm pretty sure not that many knew how dangerous they were. Lindros got a lot of shit for being soft when refused to play for having head aches. Thank god the game has changed since then. There's a player here in sweden who hits pretty good. He says that he wants to hurt other players but not wound them. I think that's a good attitude to the game.

What a joke. For a perfectly executed clean hit.
@@maltelauridsbrigge3776 you're an idiot if you believe that. That was absolute intentional head targeting. The initial point of contact was lindros's head. Stevens even threw his arm up to make sure he got in a head shot.

looks like lindros had the edge in the fights so he won those battles, but lost the war
Yeah lost the war because of a dirty hit. Stevens was great KOing people with elbows
@@figo7ronaldo Exactly. I saw it, too: that was also the elbow involved. So: must have been 2 mins for sure.
figo7ronaldo did you see lindros headbutt stevens?
Puckman637 played it better doesn’t mean playing it cheap
@Puckman637 Stevens was better in that era than Lindros? In what aspect? In the couple of times when they dropped the gloves in this video, who looked like they usually got the better of who? You've got one player who is scoring goals and the other is trying to take them out heading into the boards after the puck is already in the back of the net. That just comes off as jealous or bitter or a cheapshot artist. If someone is trying to be an agitator and get him off his game, being 6'4", do you think the team is going to send a goon after them, he had to fight his own battles. He wasn't someone who was just going to skate around headbutting random people either, everybody wanted to poke the bear. Also in that "era" between the 2, one of them hovered around 4th all time in points per game and the other not so much, i'll give you 2 guesses who and the first one doesn't count.
Lindros and his era of Flyers was the most fascinating team to watch. Ever.
That is one of the funniest comments ever.
No Stanley Cups during that era!
If you liked routing for a flash on the pan. Lindros nothing more than a 1 hit wonder .
Ahhhh man, this is just the best, all you're missing is some romantic classical music playing in the background lol
Lol that headbutt was hilarious. I was born the same year that happened, so i hadnt seen it till now. The tv stations never showed that one.
Even with those debilitating concussions that Lindros suffered, he was twice the player that Stevens was when healthy. And *anyone* who say’s & or think’s any differently in that regard, is a certified numbskull.
We’ll let the Stanley cups do the talking there

@I Got That PMA Exactly, Stevens was far more relevant. Lindros was different due to size and talent, yes, he was talented but lacked speed as did all the flyers. It was clear when they got destroyed by the wings...
@@Andre-he6tp Stevens' only relevance was in the cheap shots he laid in retaliation against the immeasurably more talented players who constantly dangled him out of his jock. Little baby just couldn't handle the skill of the NHL.
That hit in 2000 is why half of lindros' brain is liquid mush.
Stevens was pretty tough when the other guy wasn’t looking.
Stevens start the fight then holds on for dear life
Lindros is a wimp for starting crap with smaller players . He got what he deserved.
lindros was bigger than stevens and could score. stevens didnt like that and made sure he knew it throughout their careers
@@Regurgitator85 lindros fought every tough guy in the league what the fuck you talking about?
Kaspy was the first player to get Lindros with a solid concussion causing hit. Unfortunately that hit was so devastating that concussions just started coming more frequently to Lindros following this first big blow. Stevens finished off prob the biggest and toughest and one of the best players in NHL history. I don’t even like Lindros but he came in dominate to the nhl. If not for players wanting to hit him so bad he would’ve prob gone down as one of the sports best. He was a victim of what he created tho.
@BobbyBars14 you gotta think with Lindros' bowling ball play style, concussions were gonna be inevitable. The guy would show up, score a hat trick on you and beat up your enforcer in the same night.
Those hits just sped things up. A lot.
Stevens got the last laugh. Watching Lindros or any Flyer laying there is so sweet.
When you add it all up, stevens owed lindros a receipt for all the dirty antics over the years.

Waaaannnnh 😢😂
I remember going to a party in Philadelphia. When we started talking about hockey, they asked everyone about their favorite team and player. With the answers Penguins and Scott Stevens i didn’t really make any new friends that night.
One thing about Eric Lindros he's the only guy to be a legit Superstar to fight goons and all the other teams tough guys no other superstars ever done that they're always protected Bobby Clarke Wayne Gretzky..
Paul Smith Wendel Clarke was a legit superstar and fought Probert several times

Stevens was a piece of shit
In the 2001 Finals, karma really bit Stevens. As if it were a sign of how that game would end, Mr. Cheap Shot went to deliver a hit on Rob Blake, only to have Blake send HIM flying to the ice! As a Rangers fan, that was a sweet as it got in those days!
I remember Lindros's first game as a Ranger against NJ - that was the night I became a fan of his, when, late in the game, he and Stevens were driving near the boards and Lindros nailed him into the boards with a hard hit! His first bit of payback for that cheap hit that effectively ended his career in Philly.
@@zephyr9031 It wasn't a playoff game, but Manson did destroy Stevens. He deserved it. March 1991 Blackhawks vs Blues at Chicago Stadium. St. Patricks day massacre. Numerous ejections. I was in attendance.
Lindros didn't play clean himself, but I think Stevens should be in jail instead on Hall of Fame. For what he have done to many careers.
all 100% legal and encouraged by the league and media at the time. Don't hate the player hate the game.
Didn't they fight one more time after the 5/26/00 hit or am I remembering it wrong?
The dirty stuff was thrown from both sides, and so I have no objections. "If you dish it, be ready to take it" type of deal.
Mostly I'm just sad that Lindros' career was cut so short. He was an all-around great player and leader, and I find myself hardpressed to find an equivalent since his time. The only person I can think of who comes close is Ryan Getzlaf.
The saddest part is that his final concussion didn't even come from being hit in the head at all. Just a simple check did him in
Они друзья потом стали?
Lindros had a history of not keeping his head up
@Shabazz Rgt When you have a history of headbutting other people, you better keep your own head up, yea?
Good clips !!!!
"I'm about to end this man's whole career"
- Scott Stevens
Lindros put an absolute beating on Stevens when they fought in 93. Crazy how he could manhandle such strong guys like Stevens and Chris Simon
He was only like 20 at the time, too. What an athlete
Scott Stevens though ended Lindros's career with the hits he gave him skating with your head down & taking 4 defenders on in the zone by himself. Now if Lindros had done that to Stevens his head would detach. If it was todays game Lindros would be playing for straight 3 decades.
@ag4allgood I totally agree. Bobby Clarke was old school. And Flyers medical team kept clearing him to play. But what I noticed about this video. Almost every hit Lindros gave Stevens it was clean.
So a super cut of Lindros completely owning Stevens and Stevens doing what he did best to make up for it, a dirty hit.
Stevens the cheap shot king
oh yea lindros headbutting stevens is a totally legal play, dragging stevens to the ice to grapple and throw on the ground absolutely fair, lindros crossing the blue line on a 4-1 with his head down getting hit with the puck insanely dirty throw the book.
So the hit from Lindros at 3:19 is clean?
Love seeing Stevens eat those fists in the first clip. Good times.
3:18 That head but 🤣
Ulf Samuelsson sticks his knee into Cam Neely’s thigh and everyone calls it a cheap shot. Scott Stevens sticks his shoulder into Eric Lindros’ head and people celebrate and say that’s hockey Eric shouldn’t have had his head down. It’s high level hypocrisy at its worst. Stevens was dirtier than Samuelsson.
I agree if this hit happened today it’s easily 5 games for a first time offender. Scott Stevens playing today would have a far worse reputation than a Tom Wilson currently does. Different era for sure but Stevens was praised and made a career out of dirty hits deemed in today’s nhl!!!
Lol...but the headbutt was within the rules right? Eric cheated as well. Funnier when the bigger guys do it and then bitch when it occurs to them...lmmfao!
I have little to no sympathy for how Lindros had to retire or how his career was ended rather short.... He was a victim of his own creation in a way. Tried to be a bully so players targeted him right back. He did lots of dirty shit himself in his career. I loved this time and era in hockey. It’s kinda all speed and talent in today’s game.
I do watch football but sadly candy ass fans like apparently you, like to have opinions on big hits in that sport to. I don’t understand why you watch videos like this? Stick to the Crosby videos I guess. Maybe take in a Disney flick or something.
What a cream puff. You do realize that domestic situations happen to everyone including hockey players? Hockey is a wicked sport and so is football but sadly the cream puff fans like yourself and having to take hits and fights out of sports and than have opinions on another’s personal domestic situation because you read a few things. Lindros - ZERO Stanley cups.
Enforcers would help but fights lead to concussions too. RIP Bob P.
Lindros was victim of his era. He was superstar according to his hockey skills but needed to fight with bums.
I believe Brett Lindros' career was ended after only three seasons from concussions. I was watching that Devils/Flyers game on tv. You just felt sick about it. A clean hit but malicious intent.
Saw Kariya's, too. Nasty hit.
...and Kozlov!
Stevens was a psycho. He ended careers.
In terms of toughness, no one was touching the Patrick/Atlantic in the 90's. Featuring captains like Messier, Stevens, and Lindros, nothing beat a matchup between any of the teams within this division! Those games were sure to bring you up out of your seat...and being a Rangers fan, I grew up hating the latter 2 of those 3 names, but looking back, I absolutely loved what they brought to the rivalry.
Messier was the Oilers heartbeat. Messier bled oil. Born in Edmonton. Rangers was a paycheque.
