Lots of these archives were just recorded on low quality VHS, and then rendered with bad quality converters on a computer, then uploaded in a terrible quality in early youtube which was in 360p. The real archives from the TV stations are looking pretty good if the team had enough budget to get it filmed with quality cameras and skilled technicians.

@@TheRealKingKevin Crosby's had a few concussions over the years, and the biggest difference was, back in the 90s enforcers were still a thing, if you hit a star player.. you'd get the shit beat out of you. Not anymore, that's part of the reason we see more concussions now a days, no enforcers to actually police the players. Even Wayne Gretzky said this exact same thing, he didn't get hit much because he was very well protected. When he went to LA he wanted Marty McSorley as well with his trade. The enforcers need to come back. Crosby has nobody to protect him from getting hit in the head, and he still gets up and plays and plays well.

Hit after Lindros goal by Stevens would have got him suspended today. Picking up speed and boarding a guy from behind after play is whistled dead is poor sportsmanship. It took Lindros career away early and he was great to watch. Lindros was huge draw for NHL in the nineties era which suffered from trap hockey and lockouts. I don’t care what people think if Stevens, he is a dirty player. The hit at 1:28 is a great example of it just like the hit on Kariya. The reasons why we remember him as a fierce player is because he is Canadian and he had a reputation as a “great leader” that won Stanly cups. @Puckman637 Stevens was better in that era than Lindros? In what aspect? In the couple of times when they dropped the gloves in this video, who looked like they usually got the better of who? You've got one player who is scoring goals and the other is trying to take them out heading into the boards after the puck is already in the back of the net. That just comes off as jealous or bitter or a cheapshot artist. If someone is trying to be an agitator and get him off his game, being 6'4", do you think the team is going to send a goon after them, he had to fight his own battles. He wasn't someone who was just going to skate around headbutting random people either, everybody wanted to poke the bear. Also in that "era" between the 2, one of them hovered around 4th all time in points per game and the other not so much, i'll give you 2 guesses who and the first one doesn't count.

What a cream puff. You do realize that domestic situations happen to everyone including hockey players? Hockey is a wicked sport and so is football but sadly the cream puff fans like yourself and having to take hits and fights out of sports and than have opinions on another’s personal domestic situation because you read a few things. You are a prime example of the kinda fans that cause this shit.

Lindros was victim of his era. He was superstar according to his hockey skills but needed to fight with bums.

I believe Brett Lindros' career was ended after only three seasons from concussions. I was watching that Devils/Flyers game on tv. You just felt sick about it. A clean hit but malicious intent.
    Saw Kariya's, too. Nasty hit.

In terms of toughness, no one was touching the Patrick/Atlantic in the 90's. Featuring captains like Messier, Stevens, and Lindros, nothing beat a matchup between any of the teams within this division! Those games were sure to bring you up out of your seat...and being a Rangers fan, I grew up hating the latter 2 of those 3 names, but looking back, I absolutely loved what they brought to the rivalry.

На любого Линдроса всегда найдётся свой Каспарайтис. Линдрос травмировал много игроков и я рад, что ему отплатили той же монетой, снесли кукушку. Всё справедливо

No doubt about it, Stevens was a pos, but an effective one.
A bunch of late hits and high ones, BUT at the time those where hockey plays. Nobody cared about the effects it had on players, and I'm pretty sure not that many knew how dangerous they were.
Lindros got a lot of shit for being soft when refused to play for having head aches.
Thank god the game has changed since then.
There's a player here in sweden who hits pretty good. He says that he wants to hurt other players but not wound them. I think that's a good attitude to the game.

Flyers fan here. As dirty as a player that Scott Sevens was (and he's in my top 5...Bob Clarke is #1)...he usually backed-up his actions with his fists, something Clarke never did Just got that elbow up a tad too high for me sometimes.
