I've got to hand it to you Tom., not only do you make beautiful videos of your own flying masterpieces, but you put the same effort into showing other builders creations in their best possible light as well. Fred did a great job with his Mr Mulligan and I really appreciate you capturing and sharing with us her graceful flights. Thx again.
Allow me a short story. My dad built a small Hawker Hurricane when he was a kid and took it to school for show n tell. He flew it in a classroom for his buddies during break, but a teacher saw it flying, snatched it out of the air, crushed it, and canned it. Dad wanted to build another and see it fly before he died. I was able to fulfil that wish months prior to his death. I've had that Dumas kit for maybe 20years and never seem to have time to get to it ... I love that airplane. Mr Mullligan is my wish. Thank you for this vid ... it is now cherished.
My dad was an executive for Gulf Oil in the 70’s. Someone sent him a Mr. Mulligan kit. They wanted Gulf to license it. He gave it to me. Never built it. Loved on it for years and lost it along the way. I became a model maker at least. Found a little paper kit of the Mulligan. I finally completed the gift he gave me 50 years after the fact. What joy to see this perfect rendition fly so gracefully. I miss my daddy…
Just a few balsa sticks, Tissue, dope lots of rubber bands, throw it away and let it do it's thing hoping that it turns and somehow does a graceful landing, you can clearly see an Old man turned again to a 10yr old mesmerized by how his creation actually turned to a flying machine filling him with Joy and Satisfaction. I'm not old enough to remember or doing and free flight models , control line etc I've just remember using crystals for the Transmitters and gradually going to 2.4ghz rc and although I've quite a few models myself still I never felt the real struggle that out predecessors in our Hobby had so watching a Video like this can really make you appreciate more this wonderful hobby.
Lovely plane! The few extra turns really seemed to make a difference there. Congratulations to Mr Stagg on the build and flying, and to you Tom for a great film. Nice one gentlemen! 🌟👍
This makes my Sunday morning! I lived in a small town south of Rochester 30 years ago and this brings me back to those beautiful summers. I remember one Spring my sons put their shorts on April 12 (don't ask me how I remember the date...) and took them off on Halloween. Beautiful part of the country with great people doing simpler things like this. Thanks for the memories!!
Absolutely beautiful flying! I'm so glad you didn't lose it in the corn. Sharp looking plane. Wonderful video. If you could turn down the music volume a little we could enjoy your conversations. Looking forward to watching more. Thanks for posting these.
Wow! I've got one of those built ready for a motor and rebalance. I used the kit prop, rounded the corners and scales thinner and balanced. I've never flown a model I've made - I'm 62 and just need to get up the nerve plus find somewhere i can fly it. Thanks for the inspiration! Steve
Hi Tom! Thanks for sharing Fred's latest creation! Always a beautiful plane! Congratulations Fred!! VERY NICE! Two pretty darn good flighs, right out of the box!
Wow, what a beautiful aircraft and a perfect flight. I never knew those could actually fly. Had I known I would have built a few in my younger days. All my models were gas powered with radio control. Fun also but your plane looks very relaxing. I was impressed with the power it has!!!
Beautiful model! Always a pleasure to watch! After many years of RC sailplane flying, I find that the perfect conditions for the biggest thermals involve just a slight amount of breeze. Calm conditions generally make what I call "bubble" thermals. Getting a vortex going usually requries at least a little bit of a breeze.
I don’t think their intention was to catch a thermal, especially on a trim session. Their field had limits that day because of the corn growing all around it, hence the they called it the “fishbowl”.
70 years ago i built a so called stick model plane with rubber band power, it actually flew. balsa and paper with plastic prop and rubber wheels. kids need to get interested inbuilding these again.
Sixtyfour years ago I saw MrMulligans plans in book in Finland. They described it as famous in Finnish I taught it was largely manufactured. Thirty years after I learn that only one was build but it was famous. I know modern day replicas.
SUPERBE!!!!🤗😃😉 VERY BEAUTIFUL MODEL!!!😉😊 VERY STEADY AND STABLE FLIGHT (AS ALWAYS FROM THIS GUY...☺)!!! HE IS ANOTHER VERY GOOD MODEL BUILDER AND FLYER!!😉 BRAVO!👏👌👍 THX FOR SHARING!!!😉😊
My first really successful rubber scale model was a Sig Mr. Mulligan in the mid-seventies. Loved and missed it so much, got another stashed away for a future build. This video makes me push it to the top of my build list.
I had exactly the same experience! The Sig model was an incredible build, flew beautifully, and I kept it in my garage for years. It finally deteriorated, so I too bought another one! At least now I know to how to make a stooge, braid rubber and properly adjust the thrust angle.
i built and flew a lot of planes as a kid 60+ years ago but my guillow models always ended up too heavy for rubber power and i would keep them as static display or maybe put the real tiny cox .010 or .020 engines on them for freeflight. i still have some kits hanging around but i doubt i'll ever get to them. i really enjoyed the show, thnx.
Free flight- why? Why willfully refuse to add the few grams required to make the flight, at the very least, more realistic? Not to mention safer. What is the point? I really struggle to understand.

That's what it's all about and why I love this hobby so much. Beautiful plane, beautiful video, beautiful music. Thank you.

Teacher’s got my blood boiling. 😠
A not too bright teacher, she could have used it in a multitude of ways to teach somethings to her students. 😢

Not just a RP model plane, but a true work of art! Well done!
Congratulations, having a beautiful model that flies as good as it looks!
Lovely plane! The few extra turns really seemed to make a difference there. Congratulations to Mr Stagg on the build and flying, and to you Tom for a great film.
Nice one gentlemen! 🌟👍
Phantastic ! Great to see a rubber driven plane makes his rounds ! No RC, No LiPo ....

Dumas big kit, WOW 👌.
Mulligan 🤩.
That is a quite lovely piece of sculpture.

Wow Fred ! Awesome !
Wow. That was a great first flight.
Really nice Mr. Mulligan modell.
Breathtaking! Greetings from Germany😊
That airplane is a wonder of flight, amazing stability and distance. Awesome flight.
So calm and relaxing by comparison with the nitro or Brushless models that i often see at the field.
What a beauty! Climbs like a homesick angel.
Beautiful. That would make a nice R/C conversion!! Great Job!
So wonderful!
What a world!
Mini models that fly!
Beautiful little plane! Looks like his pappy!
Thanks!
Thank you for your kindness, so very much appreciated!

Beautiful job
I love the sound of unwinding rubber overhead.
Memories from 1980ish, thank you for this ❤
Nice looking model. The way it flies looks like you hit the balance just about perfect.
"How sweet it is!" - The Great One
Just beautiful. So fun watching! Thanks
I wish Fred would use a winding tube with his torque meter.
Beautiful model. Magnificent. A flying work of art.
Beautiful.
Thank you.
Beautiful model, great trim!
Very nice flights!
Sixtyfour years ago I saw MrMulligans plans in book in Finland. They described it as famous in Finnish I taught it was largely manufactured. Thirty years after I learn that only one was build but it was famous. I know modern day replicas.
The original Mr. Mulligan won the famous Thompson Trophy in the 1930s. It crashed because the propeller broke.
So lovely! Both in the air and on the ground! Super! Love it! Great work.
Had to to watch that flight twice . Mr Mulligan flying high
Funny to see it all happen ! Thx
That was one of my most favorite kits to build, wish i still had mine
Thank you for sharing. What a wonderful replication of such an iconic aircraft. And with such style. Well done.
beautiful airplane
That's one of the best UA-cam videos ever! Great job on the plane and the filming, and nice set up on the golf cart!
SUPERBE!!!!🤗😃😉
VERY BEAUTIFUL MODEL!!!😉😊
VERY STEADY AND STABLE FLIGHT (AS ALWAYS FROM THIS GUY...☺)!!! HE IS ANOTHER VERY GOOD MODEL BUILDER AND FLYER!!😉
BRAVO!👏👌👍
THX FOR SHARING!!!😉😊
Always a Joy to watch your vids!!
Great gorgeous build!
Magnificent!
As always... Stunning
Just a stunning airplane, and a great flyer!
Nice work! I have that same kit about half way done. Need to get back to it this winter.
Gawd, that was lovely. Thank you.
Great!
Many thanks!
VERY NICE!!!
wow, that's a nice looking model
Wow great Memories..we had built and flown a Mr Muilligan..didn't fly near as good as this one..
Very nice airplane! Was fun to watch.
wow, how wonderful

Bravo.perfect. go Ahead
That is a beauty
Excellent build and flight,, I think I would use a blast tube on such a model?
Brilliant!
Very Relaxing !!
amazing
Ahoj, a very, very, nice video 🛩️ 👍🙂👍. 🇺🇸
One of the prettiest models you've ever filmed for us Tom! Thanks!
Thx...I'm a lucky man to be surrounded by so many Master builders. It's such a pleasure to film them and document their flights.
I built that same model. Very nice flyer.
i built and flew a lot of planes as a kid 60+ years ago but my guillow models always ended up too heavy for rubber power and i would keep them as static display or maybe put the real tiny cox .010 or .020 engines on them for freeflight. i still have some kits hanging around but i doubt i'll ever get to them. i really enjoyed the show, thnx.
Well done..........
Wow, gorgeous plane. Balsa and tissue forever
EXCELLENT
Mr. Perfect is more like it,what a great flying machine
BRAVO❤❤❤
These are the planes I love to see the best. Large, stick balsa frame with translucent skin Scale. ❤❤❤
Nice plane.
Nice!👍💜
This is a kit I have wanted to build but was unsure how it would fly. Now I know.
She gorgeous!
nice!
What a pleasure to enjoy this video. Thank you !
What plan / build / scratch? / kit is this Mr. Mulligan ?
Thx. Check the film description for the kit link.
neat!
Please get a winding tube😊
Very calming style of flight.
Was that the prop that was supplied in the kit ,and was it covered in the kit tissue ?
Perfectly trimmed right of the bat!
How often does that happen?
❤Nice 😊
whoa
I wish I lived near there. Where I live we have to drive 50 miles to get to a field like that.
❤❤❤❤❤❤
trick is getting the control surfaces adjusted so it goes where you want.
I have a question... Have you ever launched a plane only to have it come right back at you and land in your hands ?
Mantap 👍👍
Your plane looks exactly like my electric Relient Stinson
❤🎉
🤩
