39:18 Jon: "Unless the episode's already out, and you're just watching this when it's already been posted, then... hey, how's it going? Tell me how the future is, I need to know." Me watching in 2020: "So, uh, here's the thing..."
Something both stupid, and incredibly funny happened while I was watching this episode. One of the quirks of where I live,is that "The Star-Spangled Banner" plays(at needlessly high volume) every weekday at five. I hit the "American Dream" bit as soon as the clock struck five,so immediately after Jon said "The life long dream of being murdered,y'know. The American Dream!" the American national anthem started blaring at painfully high volume. This would sound horrible out of context, but it's funny as all hells in context.
First, that's hilarious. Second, I'm curious, why is Star-Spangled Banner played at unnecessarily high volumes where you live on a very regular basis? Is it to test siren speakers or something?
To answer the questions/concerns,yes I currently live on an Air Force base. Won't say which one though. And they play it at such high volumes because it's the only speaker set for my housing section.
"Hey Emile, left or right?" "Jon, it's three in the morni-" "LEFT OR RIGHT EMILE" "Uhh... left. Why?" "I'm bad at gambling, okay? Did you say left?" "Yeah, lef-" "GOD DAMNIT EMILE" And then Jon hangs up.
So a number of people mentioned how jittery Wario looks when he jumps at 60 FPS, and originally I thought there was a screwup with my recording so I double checked things, and it ends up that's actually the game itself doing that. The super jump trick I keep doing doesn't seem to be intended by the devs, so when you jump like that, no matter what system you're playing on (Tested this on a GBA SP and 3DS Virtual Console), Wario's sprite vibrates like crazy, which is the effect everyone sees on screen. I'm guessing when I recorded the previous episodes at 30 FPS, converting down to that softened or removed the jitter. So here's the question: Do we stick with 60 FPS or do we go back to 30, because that jitteriness will be there no matter what at 60 because it happens in the game itself.
For me, when watching in 60 fps, Wario jitters if he's moving at all, not counting jetpack shoulder charges (which is the first example I came across; dunno where/if there are other instances). It's less annoying if watched on a small player, like a portrait-oriented smartphone, but for larger playback sources like a computer monitor, or fullscreen on a smartphone, it's pretty hard on the eyes. Recording it at 30 fps was easier on the eyes overall, so I prefer that over recording it in 60 fps. Rather, I prefer the old format compared to this format.
It's episodes like this that make me appreciate Jon's style of humor. Whenever something goes amiss, he just plays it off and continues off of that situation creatively or subtly. It just makes me laugh every time.
Yo Jon did you know that "Tiny Wario" as he's called showed up in the final level of Wario Ware: Smooth Moves? Mohawk and all! Sense that's the only other time we ever see this form of Wario again, maybe you'll want to mention it at some point? Hope my useless trivia is useful to you!
35:27 What killed the Jonasaur? The ICE STAGE! When I first played the first level in the episode, I never noticed the platforms to the right. I thought I had to Super Jump and use the Jetpack to bump my head on the wall, knocking me up each platform to get to the key and the key door.
These videos are giving me such powerful nostalgia. A game I played so much, but only played as a little kid. It's been so long but I remember everything...
"It's beginning to look just like an ice world. Ohhhh boy here we go. It's a platformers greatest foe, moving around is slow, because of all the irritating snow"
25:02 *Wario walks right into a Pouncer and dies.* Jon: *Angry grunt* I should've seen that coming! We'll see you there in a second! It didn't let me jump because of the stun animation! 😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
I didn't actually know you could get money from those birds. I thought the baskets on their heads were platforms, so I got confused as to why they would die when I jumped on them. XD
The Wario endings and transitions are definitely my favorite part of this series so far. I wish I got to play this game as a kid, or any Wario Land game really, all I had was Super Mario Land 2
So, let me get this straight. Your statement is on the internet. Therefore, it is false. That means that the preceding statement that presumably states everything on the internet was true is assumed false, but by your statement being false, it means his statement is true. Ergo, everything read on the internet IS true?
Thanks for answering my question about the knife-platform deal. My thought process was that if you didn't have the Jet Helmet in that Course 8, you could use the knife as an alternate way to get up to the secret exit if not at the very least the heart block.
BONUS GAME RESULTS This Episode: Money game - 11 coin bags out of 18 Heart game - 1 bomb hits out of 5 LP Total: Money game - 25 coin bags out of 53 Heart game - 4 bomb hits out of 20
I was there actually, for at least one day. A couple of my friends have booths in vendors and I know a decent chunk of the staff because I used to run panels there.
I love the wario voice lines you put in when your doing cuts... I wish chuggaconroy did the same.(p.s. I'm having a great time binge watching this whole series.)
"Life Loss-aganza!" the new "Samus Aran Power Bombing Power Hour - even though it's only 10 minutes!" Yeah, I remember Super Metroid Omega Boss Battles
At 35:50, when he died, he said that it went badly, and you can tell by looking at the screen. You can see his lives went down by 1, but his hearts had wrapped around meaning he got an extra life. So he died again on the way back to where he was it seems.
Well, since Basky's real name is Chicken Duck, "Ducks for Cash" works perfectly on them. Of course, "Chickens for Cash" would also work pretty well. I couldn't help but laugh really hard when you missed that star and died in the beginning of the boss stage. I guess the bad luck doesn't only affect the coin minigame!
Proton Jon is the only youtuber who I watch their end slate for because their just so entertaining. Also, at this rate I think Jon might try and get a cat emote for twitch...
34:45 Using a key as a weapon? Where have I heard that concept before? Also, Jon actually having good luck on a gambling game! Hide your attack kitties, the end of the world is coming!!!
The boss reminds me a lot of Red Brief J. I'm curious as to whether this is where the inspiration for Red Brief J comes from, or if it's just a coincidence.
My first introduction to Wario was Wario land 2 on the GBC. I had a lot of fun I even had wario land 1 which was the uncoloured version I think. The battery in it died and it never saved my progress. But yeah I had fun playing those games. Also I love how the music stays the same throughout the series. Until 4 which had actual vocals on the GBA which was amazing for that time. But yeah I played up to wario land 3 on the GBC and that's about it. I did play a bit of wario world on the GCN but other than that that is all I can remember.
Something I just found out today: I actually saw someone get a game over and saw the game over screen, but one OTHER thing happens: you LOSE HALF OF YOUR STORED COINS FOR GETTING A GAME OVER (rounded down if it's an odd number of coins)!
Here's a tip for dealing with the seahorse enemies: Create a big coin and go underwater with it and and get below the seahorse, then swim up and bump their bum with the coin to kill it. them works on other underwater enemies too.
Nope. Different names in all regions. Minotaur is Beefn in Japan and Germany. Red-Brief J is Red-Pants Johnny in Japan (Pants uses the British definition in Japan, so Brief is the correct translation), Machotaurus in Germany, and Massimo in French.
8:10 *Slow clap* Jon: "Alright, I feel like I need to explain myself for what just happened..." Me: "Please do" (Sounding like that very in control principal to a student who just spray painted my car)
39:18
Jon: "Unless the episode's already out, and you're just watching this when it's already been posted, then... hey, how's it going? Tell me how the future is, I need to know."
Me watching in 2020: "So, uh, here's the thing..."

This would sound horrible out of context, but it's funny as all hells in context.
I mean I'm glad I'm an american, but jeez that sounds like it would get annoying after one week alone :-/
First, that's hilarious.
Second, I'm curious, why is Star-Spangled Banner played at unnecessarily high volumes where you live on a very regular basis? Is it to test siren speakers or something?
Also not to sound like a creep but where do you live cause that is just weird
Sound like you live in an Air Force Base, or any military base that has housing. I lived in one for seven and a half years and it did the same thing.
To answer the questions/concerns,yes I currently live on an Air Force base. Won't say which one though.
And they play it at such high volumes because it's the only speaker set for my housing section.
You should honestly call Emile and just ask him LEFT or RIGHT three times.
That would be so funny
He needs to do this, omg
"Hey Emile, left or right?"
"Jon, it's three in the morni-"
"LEFT OR RIGHT EMILE"
"Uhh... left. Why?"
"I'm bad at gambling, okay? Did you say left?"
"Yeah, lef-"
"GOD DAMNIT EMILE"
And then Jon hangs up.
Maybe Emile's amazing luck would offset Jon's bad luck. Or it could screw him over.
This has to happen. I hope the series isn't all pre-recorded.
I am obsessed with that "GET OUTTA HERE" sound byte, what is that from?
Wario World
I didn't expect to see you here, hi.
Hello 🌮
Ah, Wario World was my number one guess; It's pretty much the only Wario game I haven't played
@Corbin Wayne why are there bots on a video from 4 years ago
35:24
Q: "What killed the dinosaurs?"
A: "The Ice Stage!"
Despite his characterization, I still feel really bad seeing Wario be sad when losing the minigames.
When Mario defeats Wario in Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins Wario turns into Baby Wario and starts crying
"this is definitely the way to go, so we're not going in here." my mentality for 100%ing a game without a guide.
So here's the question: Do we stick with 60 FPS or do we go back to 30, because that jitteriness will be there no matter what at 60 because it happens in the game itself.
I would prefer 30fps. He looks so blurry when running or just alternating different sprites in general. I'm actually watching in 480p because of this.
I think 30 frames would be best but it's your content so I can't really say for certain.
It's fun to see, I say stick with 60 FPS.
Keep it in 60 FPS. People have the option to watch it in 30 for a slight decrease in quality.

Harpoon Walrus really sounds like a Metal Gear boss...
Or a maverick from megaman X
The secret boss before Vulcan Raven but after revolver ocelot XD
It's episodes like this that make me appreciate Jon's style of humor. Whenever something goes amiss, he just plays it off and continues off of that situation creatively or subtly. It just makes me laugh every time.
(Spoiler Warning)
39:32 The triumphant return of the Attack Kittens!
omg you spoiled it
this should be on the intermission screen for his streams
So you mean to tell me next episode we're jumping from the icebox directly into the fire.
Just bypassing the frying pan altogether, are we?
Jon's luck so far:
Times coins were doubled: 25
Times coins were halved: 28
Average odds on wins/losses: 47/53
Change from last time: up (from 40/60)
When Wario said "D'oh I misssed," I thought my phone went off since that's what my current notification is. xD
39:20 "Tell me how the future is" - It suck.
Your end slates never cease to amaze me Jon, pls do them all the time
If Jon finishes Wario Land in 2016, we're all gonna be millionaires.
He seems to be uploading decently so far
gamar356 Shh, don't jinks it. That's what people said about Yoshi's Island before Jon's Calendar broke.
"ERROR: user attempted to follow a schedule"
If he finishes it in 2016, we might actually see another Superman 64 in this decade.
relax he put new batteries in it, also have you gotten that >million dollars/what ever you call the currencies where you live
Tiny Wario is a form in Wario Land II, but yeah, those are his only three appearances with the mohawk. Don't think he had one in SML2.
Rex Nice Sora Fire Emblem Sprite
he does
10:09
"I have to work on my basketball skills"
Yeah you better if you wanna beat that one boss in Wario Land II !
When you missed that star...
35:27 What killed the Jonasaur? The ICE STAGE!
When I first played the first level in the episode, I never noticed the platforms to the right. I thought I had to Super Jump and use the Jetpack to bump my head on the wall, knocking me up each platform to get to the key and the key door.
Whenever Jon threw enemies into Chicken Duck, I thought of "must be the stache"!
These videos are giving me such powerful nostalgia. A game I played so much, but only played as a little kid. It's been so long but I remember everything...
Hey Jon, I don't know if anybody has mentioned it, but Ducksforcash now links to that moment in the video.
Thank you, whoever is responsible.
I don't know what's worse, Jon's luck at the coin game or Jon's skill at the lives game.
I love how creative the end slates get!
35:28 8/10 Still gotta work on that Blarg impression!
"It's beginning to look just like an ice world. Ohhhh boy here we go. It's a platformers greatest foe, moving around is slow, because of all the irritating snow"
I was not expecting the star to disappear that damn quickly either. Wow.
I didn't even know it /could/ disappear. It typically always landed on top of me the moment it popped out.
25:02
*Wario walks right into a Pouncer and dies.*
Jon: *Angry grunt* I should've seen that coming! We'll see you there in a second! It didn't let me jump because of the stun animation!
😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Christ. You sound like the people that come to casino I work at that attempt to figure out baccarat
"Considering there's no ice in midair!" What if it's snowing or hailing?
I didn't actually know you could get money from those birds. I thought the baskets on their heads were platforms, so I got confused as to why they would die when I jumped on them. XD
Good ol' chicken duck
The Wario endings and transitions are definitely my favorite part of this series so far. I wish I got to play this game as a kid, or any Wario Land game really, all I had was Super Mario Land 2
25:00 "I want that coin though."
In a mario game, that thought is a valid reason not to go for said coin(s).
I really love your endslates. i think yours are the only ones I sit through to the end because of how funny they are.
Jon's Mini-game Streak:
This video:
Money Game: 11/18 - 61%
Heart Game: 1/5 - 20% (It seems like Jon can only score once per attempt)
Total:
Money Game: 25/53 - 47%
Heart Game: 4/20 - 20%
Everyone knows that everything you read online is true!
That statement is a lie.
Yeah! I read what you said on the internet so it must be true.
"You can't believe everything you read on the internet."
-Abraham Lincoln
I mean, do you really think someone would do that? Go on the internet and tell lies?
So, let me get this straight. Your statement is on the internet. Therefore, it is false. That means that the preceding statement that presumably states everything on the internet was true is assumed false, but by your statement being false, it means his statement is true. Ergo, everything read on the internet IS true?
Thanks for answering my question about the knife-platform deal. My thought process was that if you didn't have the Jet Helmet in that Course 8, you could use the knife as an alternate way to get up to the secret exit if not at the very least the heart block.
A deadly key weapon...
Keys. My god
JonTron: OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
Who does he think he is? Sora?
Lol
No wonder why Phantos guard them.
Now, beat Dracula with it!
Jon if you need to grind for coins, you can re-fight the boss of Sherbet Island as many times as you wish.
BONUS GAME RESULTS
This Episode: Money game - 11 coin bags out of 18
Heart game - 1 bomb hits out of 5
LP Total: Money game - 25 coin bags out of 53
Heart game - 4 bomb hits out of 20
What a wonderful episode hahahaha. I love wario so much, thanks for playing this dude!
Jon: "I really want that coin though" *dies* good job, Jon.
Watching this in 2022. To past Jon at the end of the episode, the future is not going great.
I wonder how I couldn't find your channel earlier :'D You shoul really come to this year's otafest!
I was there actually, for at least one day. A couple of my friends have booths in vendors and I know a decent chunk of the staff because I used to run panels there.
+Proton Jon Panels for The Runaway Guys I assume
Jon gets cold feet in some ice physics in a Wario level. Wario just wants the money and Jon misses the money.
I love the wario voice lines you put in when your doing cuts... I wish chuggaconroy did the same.(p.s. I'm having a great time binge watching this whole series.)
My process of picking the answer on the gambling game is simple; pick the opposite of Jon's initial idea.
I remember part of the Little Nemo movie. never seen the end of it. only up to him saving that guy from being shot out of a canon.
"Life Loss-aganza!" the new "Samus Aran Power Bombing Power Hour - even though it's only 10 minutes!"
Yeah, I remember Super Metroid Omega Boss Battles
This game is awesome. I haven't played/seen it in 22 years, but seeing you playing that makes some of my dormant muscle memory sections reactivate :D
I guess you could say that the last coin minigame in this video was ALRIGHT
At 35:50, when he died, he said that it went badly, and you can tell by looking at the screen. You can see his lives went down by 1, but his hearts had wrapped around meaning he got an extra life. So he died again on the way back to where he was it seems.
Well, since Basky's real name is Chicken Duck, "Ducks for Cash" works perfectly on them. Of course, "Chickens for Cash" would also work pretty well.
I couldn't help but laugh really hard when you missed that star and died in the beginning of the boss stage. I guess the bad luck doesn't only affect the coin minigame!
25:07 I do want that last coin though. Famous last words.
I just realized this game was the inspiration for New Super Mario Bros. 2.
With the amount of new stuff that game does, you could very well say that every Mario game prior to it was an inspiration ;)
Mario realised he was decades behind on his castle's rent, having forgotten about it entirely.
Jon uploading some more? What? Haha keep up the great work Jon, I'm loving these so much!
Those thunder cloud enemies in Sherbet Land totally look like Moogle clouds.
Its such a joy watching you play -- good job!
I'm really hoping that if the timer goes past 100secs again, we get to hear one of my fav Wario lines from Mario Kart 7: "MOVE IT!" XD
Fun Fact: During the boss battle, when you hurt him, he makes the same sound as the Metroids from Metroid 2: Return of Samus.
Proton Jon is the only youtuber who I watch their end slate for because their just so entertaining. Also, at this rate I think Jon might try and get a cat emote for twitch...
Hello past Jon. Go back. Go back while you still can
It's the return of slippery shoes!
When you explained dying it sounded so funny just how you said it
34:45 Using a key as a weapon? Where have I heard that concept before?
Also, Jon actually having good luck on a gambling game! Hide your attack kitties, the end of the world is coming!!!
“How are things in the future?” Jon, I got some bad news for ya bud
8:04 -- I think these are the lyrics to the Hot Top Volcano music in Diddy Kong Racing.
The look on Wario's face when he gets charred is funny
Jon in the future you actually upload at a relatively regular pace I think leaving the SA forums is the best thing you ever do
The boss reminds me a lot of Red Brief J. I'm curious as to whether this is where the inspiration for Red Brief J comes from, or if it's just a coincidence.
I like how much of these stages consists of the same section copypasted over and over, with a slight alteration here and there if you're lucky.
lmao
I have seen you a lot lately
Oh hello Skawo, wasn't expecting to see you here.
The Dog Rules
Have you.
8SomaCruzes
And why's that? I really love the Wario Land series.
24:29 - nICE touch? I'd say that it's rather chilling. Ha! Beat you to the punch on this one Mr. Chuggaaconroy!
The way you give names to the enemies, Nintendo should hire you to name all of their enemies for all future games.
Future sucks, dude. Stay back there in 2016
21:12: Default, Woo Hoo,, the two sweetest words in the english language!
Hello past Jon. Future Jon is better equipped for the future. He's got a wife
3:40
I thought that's how you were INTENDED to do it. At least that's how I understood it.
33:32 Was anyone else thinking "Slippery shoes!" When Jon died there?
Don't forget you can stomp on the ground to stun enemies as Bull Wario.
I didn't know the starman could disappear! Poor Jon.
Why are the cuts so amazing in this LP? The voice clips combined with the best generic sound effect should not be this hilarious.
Man, Jon is just the best at this game.
There's something very satisfying about Wario's "*Grunt* GET OUTTA HEA"
39:32 - Also, YES! The return of the cats!
Subscribed! Loving this LP, so far.
Can't wait for more of this!
Also the 10Coin is a weapon just like the Key :) But I bet you knew that already, can't wait for more Jon
Holy shit, is the boss of Mt. Teapot Red Brief J from Wario World?!
Nope. Different names in all regions. Minotaur is Beefn in Japan and Germany. Red-Brief J is Red-Pants Johnny in Japan (Pants uses the British definition in Japan, so Brief is the correct translation), Machotaurus in Germany, and Massimo in French.
Several years later, ducksforcash.com STILL leads to this UA-cam video, to the moment you said it.
Yeah, another episode of this series!!! Awesome!! :)
(12:30) I see you became a certain cow for a moment there, Jon..
Oh, 60 fps, huh? I admit, it did throw me off for a moment there, but I'm happy that you uploaded it this way.
Honestly, I see the bear/Minotaur as a really buff mouse.
8:10 *Slow clap*
Jon: "Alright, I feel like I need to explain myself for what just happened..."
Me: "Please do" (Sounding like that very in control principal to a student who just spray painted my car)
Future is great.
You finally released LP Superman 64 Stage 10.
