  • Today, we hit the river searching for Civil War relics, coins, bottles, and other historical artifacts. We check out several sites via jetboat and have some decent luck in most places.
As always, this is a how-to metal detecting outdoor adventure vlog that is family-friendly and hopefully fun.
    About Aquachigger:
I like to make videos that promote my lifestyle of outdoor adventure, metal detecting, yapping, searching for river treasure, SCUBA diving, exploring abandoned places, hiking, caving, caring for animals and pets, and observing the things outdoors that often go unnoticed. I keep my UA-cam "Aquachigger" channel family-friendly and hope you subscribe if you like my style.
I hope to see you guys out there!

The Brass disc with holes- that looks like one half of a Fly Fishing reel. The comb could have been a lady's decorative comb to hold their hair in place. Thanks for bringing us along.

Chigg that comb thing you found, looks like the music maker thing inside a little girls jewelry boxes. A barrel with bumps on it would pluck each tong on the comb piece and it plays a song or some music.

The round brass item with the slash is the back of a wind up clock. The curved slash is probably marked with an F on one end and an S on the other to adjust the time faster or slower. The other holes were for setting the time and winding...and you are correct on the decoy anchors.

That giant lead weight is perhaps a decoy anchor.
I found a lot of variants of that antique " suspender buckle" looking item. Even found in salt water. I do feel it's from something people wear.

Yep, the lead “L”’s are decoy weights that you wrap the string around the keel of a decoy and then you stretch the rubber around the keel and hook the “L” on to the keel for a tight fit.
The lorge bullet shaped piece of lead is also a decoy weight.
You probably found the “L”’s and the bullet looking lead piece in the same general area.

I think the round brass lid is from an old brass bait can. the steel comb is most likely a J.B. Ford Company comb made in Wyandotte Michigan and were popular from 1930 until 1968.

1:32 That part of a comb looks a lot like one of the old metal pet combs we had back in the 70's had a round wooden handle on it the comb part was about 6' long. Made to go through tails and long haired pets like Elk Hounds etc.

I think the comb thing is part of an electric hair trimmer. Also l think the, in your words "coolest find" from like 7:20 , is a Book/Ledger Mark.
Just look up antique, metal clip bookmarks...BTW I think that shit is OLD OLD!
Perhaps a family heirloom. Lost by a Civil War soldier. Clutching his Bible in certain death.
Hey. Every artifact invites a narrative...
