Anything floating can potentially hold trips. An elevated platform makes a huge difference. We have a half tower, like that pathfinder, and have trailed boats on the buoy lines, catching fish the other guys never saw.
Sweet video! Makes me want to fish around the crab traps up here in the Big Bend area a little more. I mostly target oyster bars and mounds on the open water and do okay. Wish our water up here was a little more clear as sight fishing is totally out of the question with all the rain and runoff from the coastal creeks. Thanks again and tight lines!
so will fish that size stay alive in a live well that size for half a day or whatever? do any rules require you to keep them live or that's just to keep them fresh?
Yes. That information is posted on our website for each video. Here's a link to the post for this one: www.saltstrong.com/articles/catch-tripletail-crab-trap-buoys/

I literally just finished eating a tripletail I caught under a sailboat in Destin. I was surprised it had that cod/redfish aftertaste. Still good though.
@@Saltstrong Thanks! It was a bonus that day. I sight casted a 39" cobia with a 1 oz. Roostertail spinner that was pretty good tasting for a large fish (not exceptional like I have heard), on top of that I caught my limit of nice red snapper in 80 feet of water over what appeared to be a capsized boat found on the Garmin. The tripletail and snapper were keyed in on greenback herring. It was the only non-windy day I got to take out the kayak post hurricane. The red snapper tastes like buttered lobster which is a mystery to me.

Very true!
I bet you pass fish even with that tower that I will catch behind you.

Are tripletail around the shore year round or are they only around in the winter months? I'm in Tampa btw.

A camera view from up top would be nice for sight fishing
Yes, we'll definitely be getting some new camera angles with this boat.

wtf it look like barra and jack if they have a baby..
Haha!
Here we call it kakap batu
That is some good eating right there! I always make it a point to fish crab traps to no avail. Great job thought!
Most buoys won't have a tripletail on it, so it's more of a numbers game... the more you check the more you'll see.
Find them around the big channel buoys?
Are you on the Gulf or the Atlantic?
We fish both but this footage was in the Gulf (Tampa/St. Pete)
well, your quite far away from me!
Great Videos. Glad you will be doing bay boat videos. I have a Starcraft Offshore 18 I'm working on.
Thanks!
What kind of boat ya got there partner?
It's a 24 ft Pathfinder TRS
Can y'all guys show more of the equipment you use, each video?

What is the leprechaun?
It is the Alabama Leprechaun color (green with gold flakes). You can find them here: fishstrong.com/search?q=alabama&Search=Search
Whats a good polarized lens for attaching to prescriptions glasses to see the fish easier in the water?
Nice tripletail
Awesome, thanks for the video. Love it.
What size hooks are you using?
Gratz!
That's the way to christen a new boat! Tripletail and cobia are 2 of my favorites to catch and eat.
Thanks for watching! Those are two good species!

Nice work on the tripletail catch!
