- and so October sputters and gutters out and November begins (for me at least) with snowfall - this week grew so cold so I was even more happy when my Emposia blanket showed up, a huge thank you to the company for sending me one! Also thank you all so kindly for all the lovely book gifts (I think I mispronounced the short story collection by Cortazar but regardless I'm so excited to read it.) This reading vlog is filled with the last of the leaves, spooky Halloween reads and some honest not-feeling-so-well-mr-stark chats, hope you're all doing well, much love xx

Emma, you are such a sweetheart. A number of years ago, I had a serious head injury. For the longest time, I couldn’t follow a train of thought. I’d get half way through a sentence and forget what the beginning was. Reading was impossible, and I had been a voracious reader. It was a long, unpleasant haul, but I did recover and have been reading up a storm since. I see this video was a year ago, but I’ve watched more recent ones and know you are still dealing with your injury. You, too, will make it through. Sending you wishes for every good thing.
The Netherlands has a tea brand called Pickwick (inspired by the novel). It’s the biggest tea brand here and some other European countries 😂

everytime you mention coraline I get flashbacks to reading a series called the books of elsewhere. They’re middle grade but I feel like they are the types of books you can keep going back to no matter your age. Love the dark whimsicality of the stories.
Wow! That edition of Phantom is phenomenal! And I agree with you about when Garston Leroux uses first person - I love when an author addresses the reader, it's almost like they're letting us in on a secret and that thrill of "oh! They're talking to me!" - not sure why I feel that way but love it! 😂 Also, on a different note, last Sunday I passed 11 years of being ill with ME/CFS and I am also completely baffled about having passed that date. It's such a strange world being chronically ill and I think it's hard to understand, live in, and describe - and its easier to just exist in a bubble of 'normal' than think - and there are days that simply getting out of bed is an achievement! I'm sending so many hugs your way and I hope tomorrow will be better 🧡🧡🧡
I completely agree - another concussion symptom is extreme fatigue and some days getting out of bed definitely feels like it deserves an award, I can only imagine what you're going through but sending you so much love and many hugs as well and thank you for so many kind words
...Also thanks for sharing your feelings as opposed to hiding them... so many people (including me) find it so supportive and reassuring to know that we are not alone in suffering from the trials that life throws at us (depression/anxiety/grief/sadness) We have to be open about these darker emotions as well as the positive ones. To realise that it's OK to feel down some days. To just want to lie in. Thank you for your great channel !! :)

I bought the apple cinnamon tea a couple months ago and hated it too. If you’re in the market for a fruit and spice tea I would HIGHLY recommend the Bigelow Perfect Peach tea. The concussion sounds like a b*tch. I have a chronic illness that comes with migraines, so while not quite the same I can kinda relate. Honestly audiobooks are such a blessing. On good days I find them harder to focus on but when my sight is just one big glitch reading text is just not an option. And when my joints are acting up I'm really glad to have an ereader so I can just put it on my lap and don't have to put strain on my hands. I wish you the best with your concussion!
