Wow the overall quality of the video is superb. Really a big step up compared to your previous Snowflake video. I really liked your explications of the history of zoratsu finishing. I've seen tons of video about the Snowflake and this is defenitely the best content I've seen. The shooting is also great but still not the best. Keep up the good work :D
I think the reason for owning a GS is based on Horological appreciation it is not something you might fall in love with at the moment. I think you have to give it time and you grow to appreciate their beauty of finish and movement. If you want brand recognition carry on if you want an understated beautiful time piece check it out.
Thank You Guy enjoyed the review and as always you are thorough and detailed in Your Reviews! I agree to go back and review previous Watches! The quality of your new Cameras are readily noticed and appreciated! I love the Spring Drive! Thanks Guy for re - visiting this impressive time piece!
I hate small watches. Lol. I have 3 38mm and rarely wear them. I tend to gravitate towards 42 to 44. This dress watch being 41 would be perfect for me. Loved the review.
Guy, I think you did nice a job with the photography, it is so much better as I have looked back at some of your older videos and I know that stuff is good money. I love the snowflake dial, I wish they made it in a 38 or 39mm case. The dial is amazing as I have seen one in person a couple years ago and I love the spring drive. It is mesmerizing. There are many GS models and some are just amazing. The accuracy is the best I have seen by a mechanical watch. I am kind of OCD of accurate time. I can't afford one now but I hope they will make a better clasp with micro-adjustments like they do with their diver watches. I really hope I can afford a spring drive watch someday.
Agree on how it wears, as well as white dials wearing bigger than the specs. I nearly purchased one in Japan where they are more available. I tried it on at the Grand Seiko boutique- it felt comfortable but it did wear a bit big for my taste (and yet light due to the titanium, which made it feel a bit strange for it wearing big on my wrist). The craftsmanship, however, is unmistakable and lives up to its reputation.
As much as I appreciate GS for what it is (a great watch) I haven't seen one that sings to me. Hopefully one day, with the right dial and in the right size, something will come along.
Thank you for this video! I'm deciding between keeping my SBGA211 or going for the Rolex Explorer 114270, and this gave me a lot of insight. In your shoes, which one would you keep?
The difference in quality is massive between those two watches, a much more fair comparison would be a modern explorer and the snowflake. I own both and really enjoy them, but if I could only keep one it would be the sbga211.
I’m fortunate to own a snowflake, and the Rolex explorer 114270. I wouldn’t get rid of any of them. I certainly wouldn’t sell the snowflake to get the explorer 1.
Richard Attridge I have a Snowflake and an Oyster Perpetual which has a similar layout to the Explorer. I don’t wear the Rolex and wear the Snowflake everyday. I love that watch.
I have the Snowflake. You really have to look at the dial with a jewelers loupe. Most other watches the hands look awful under magnification. These hands look like very sharp knives. I love white dials, blue dials, black dials. Depends on the watch.
The bracelet uses pins because of the nature of titanium. Over time, titanium screws will wear out and strip the screw holes where as pins and sleeves should prove more reliable over time.
Great review sir. This watch is amazing. Sadly I still would choose the Rolex OP or Date Just over this watch. I don’t know why. I can’t explain it. I know the Grand Seiko is a better watch. Would you choose this over a ROLEX? Keep the great vids coming and keep Rocking those watches 🤘🏻
@@JustBlueFish I got myself the 36mm OP in white. I wanted the black first but I saw the white in flesh and it was too good to let it stand there. White is better to me due to the better legibility and it does not suffer from the lack of AR coating as the black would be pretty hard to read due to it. However if the Snowflake came in 37 or 38mm under 12mm thick I would have taken it !
@@JustBlueFish I went for the opposite, I own a black OP36 first, then since snowflake was sat on my wrist, I couldnt take it off. now that I have both... gotta say the latter stole quite a lot of love and wrist time off me, it's not equal and I admit that I am biased.
I think revisiting watches you have reviewed in the past is a good idea, although I don’t think you need to spend so much time on the dimensions/history/other things you talked about in the original video. I think it should be a more supplemental video on how your thoughts have changed. Otherwise the review was as high quality as ever and the video with your new equipment is very high quality
Good video as usual but, come on Guy, where are your super nerdy 40 minute long reviews that made the channel famous ? I am afraid the channel is losing its USP now
To be fair I’ve only done a few of those. I can’t do a super long review on a watch I haven’t owned and worn for a while. And I’ve done those types of reviews on all the watches I have extensive experience with.
I have the utmost respect for Grand Seiko watches, however from what I've read, they have to seriously rework their servicing experience in the US before I'd ever consider one.
I love this watch... the only thing i dont like is the power reserve indicator, i don't really feel like it is really necessary as long as you wear it winding shouldn't really be an issue.
The power reserve indicator was the only thing that made me doubt in buying this watch. But with a bit of imagination and appreciation, the swipe kind of resembles a snow angel in some way and it's now part of my collection. Love it with no regrets.
Thanks to Exquisite Timepieces for loaning this watch for review:

I got to handle one at the Seiko Boutique NY. It was everything I had hoped it would be.
Wearing mine right now and loving it!
I just purchased a Seiko sarw041 baby snow flake. I love this watch and I am going to definitely buy a Grand Seiko for my collection. Great review !!!

took me over a decade to appreciate and own a GS, and it is the snowflake.
Just what I've been looking for this week! Thank you Guy.
Enjoy!
I have one in my collection. I love it.
Been waiting for this one...
hope you enjoyed it.
Grand Seiko is suuuuuch a fantastic watchmaker. To be frank, I’ve always been drawn more towards GS than companies like Rolex or Patek.
I feel the same with modern Rolex, especially with their outrageous policy of underproducing watches.
But Patek is a completely different game.
It was your video which pushed me to get one, so I’m happy to see this one revisited
thank you guy again for sharing your insight on this, the vid is very well done mate.
Love this one ! I've heard it's one of those you have to see in person. Picutures and video do not do it justice .
Yeah my camera doesn't do it justice.
Great Review 👍 I loved it !
Awesome, thank you!
I wrestled with buying the Snowflake or the spring drive Grand Seiko diver, SBGA231. I love the diver but I still think about that Snowflake!
I hate small watches. Lol. I have 3 38mm and rarely wear them. I tend to gravitate towards 42 to 44. This dress watch being 41 would be perfect for me. Loved the review.

Bought my SBGA211 last week
grats, I had it for 6 months, besides it can pick up micro hairlines scratches easily, I love it more than any other watches I have.
The Snowflake will be iconic, if it's not already.
Great review Guy! I wish that Grand Seiko would sing to me, for they are truly very nice watches, unfortunately they just don’t.
As much as I appreciate GS for what it is (a great watch) I haven't seen one that sings to me. Hopefully one day, with the right dial and in the right size, something will come along.
Is the movement antimagnetic?
top Video👍whats your opinion about the new Submariner-Killer Seiko spb143j1 ???
What watch are you wearing in this video?
Great presentation...hope you are doing well.
Thank you for this video! I'm deciding between keeping my SBGA211 or going for the Rolex Explorer 114270, and this gave me a lot of insight. In your shoes, which one would you keep?
114270 would be my choice.
Depends how much you can get for the GS and what you get for the GS won’t get you anywhere near the price of an Explorer.
The difference in quality is massive between those two watches, a much more fair comparison would be a modern explorer and the snowflake. I own both and really enjoy them, but if I could only keep one it would be the sbga211.

I tend to agree. If I had to choose be a Rolex OP and a GS I'd take the OP (albeit not in a while dial). I just like the Rolex styling better.

the only white dial watch I would buy ...
Is there a womens version for the SBGA211?
Why?
Looking for couples watch for tinghun
I wish the price would come down after all these years. $6,200 for watch is way to much IMO.

Agreed. More macro shots and your new thoughts are good enough.
It’s now $6,200 MSRP

Grand Seiko calls it that tgv, didn’t invent that.
@@rickjason215 grand seiko calls it ZARATSU, tgv has the audacity of adding a syllable with his habitual confidence.
I prefer the one were it says SEIKO on the top of the dial and Grand Seiko at the bottom

yea, love the one guy did on moonwatch 🙌🏻
I would spring for it if they removed the hideous power reserve from the dial.
Your shirt it's way to big. You should go one size down at least :)
I lost weight and haven't been able to go shopping.
See, now I think a 38mm is way too small.
A nice watch let down by a poor designed bracelet, no micro adjust or half links = not interested
I have the utmost respect for Grand Seiko watches, however from what I've read, they have to seriously rework their servicing experience in the US before I'd ever consider one.
Oof. I was right on first impression, your tastes are as bad as your on screen presence. I hope this is just a hobby.
Great vid. Not a fan of seiko however. Every time l hear snowflake l think of a millennial not a watch...
That's just dumb

Are you talking about a GS while wearing a Rolex? No Go man....
