Hi uncle Raymond. I don't have many experience with RC cars but I do play around with the electronics. I would think that it's the motor that's malfunctioning, especially if it runs slow and HOT. If you have a multimeter, try measuring the resistance of the motor terminals while slowly rotating the shaft through the turn with fingers. The readings should be quite consistent throughout the rotation as the brushes commute to the coils.
Hey Bob, thanks for the suggestion. Like I said, I’m planning to get a new brushless setup for it, might as well. Right now, I don’t have a multimeter I can play around with either.
