They can afford to take a chance on him at 18. And they are due one for Darko. A high upside big guy that pans out. Now wouldn't that be nice.

i think he will go somewhere in between 20-32, that being said hope the lakers trade back into to 1st round and get him. Offer up Lou, Swaggy, Anthony Brown, and our 32nd pick. if thats not enough offer a future 2nd round pick

Dude could do anywhere from 10-25 basically it all depends on what teams wanna take a risk and how well he does in workouts

Don't believe any UA-cam analyst who says Maker is going to be a top five talent. I haven't seen any mock drafts from any reliable sources that have him higher than 23, and he's been dropping, not rising. Draft Express just dropped him from early 2nd round to 40th. Chad Ford has dropped him from top 20 to 26th. CBS Sports has dropped him from 26th to 2nd round. Jonathon Givony from the Vertical has him in the 2nd round too. He didn't compete in 5-on-5 at the Combine and his measurements didn't do anything to help his draft stock. Plus, there's an article on Bleacher Report right now with quotes from an NBA scout and an NBA executive saying that early 2nd round might even be too high because he's a very risky project. Anyone saying he could go in the top 10 or that he's a top 4 talent should realize that watching mixtapes doesn't make you a scout.

+addeisdead He can still get drafted to a team like the raptors at the 9th spot and they won't need him for 2-3 years.

ObamamustnukeFoxnews I realize there was a lot of hype around this guy a year or two ago and people were proclaiming him the next Kevin Garnett or Kevin Durant, but you've got to put that aside and look at reality. Everyone with any inside knowledge of the NBA is saying he's a second round pick who might get taken late in the first round if some team wants to reach. If Toronto took him at #9, they'd be laughed out of the NBA. The Raptors still need rotation players who can help them now, and they already have Bruno Caboclo on the "wait a couple of years" list. There are going to be players available at 9 that can help them right now, whether it's Deyonta Davis, Wade Baldwin or Henry Ellenson. If they want Maker, they still have the 27th pick, and if they don't get him there it's no big loss. And if they want a project player, Skal Labissiere and Marquese Chriss are considered better options than Maker. There's no reason for anyone in the lottery to take him, and especially not at #4 like the "scout" below says.

+addeisdead The reason I say raptors is because they are the only playoff team with a high draft pick. If he is a bust they won't lose a lot, they will put him in the D league to learn bball. Calling him the next KD or Garnett is an extreme comparison but it doesn't mean he will suck. He is 7 feet you can't teach that. Plus this is not even their pick at the 9th spot so they are playing with house money. Low risk high reward.

They may be a playoff team, but they're not a championship team. They barely got to the conference finals. So, the fact that they have a draft pick means they have a great opportunity to make their team even better now and maybe actually compete for a championship. The fact is there are a lot of guys in this draft who are about the same age as Maker but aren't high risk picks. Henry Ellenson is only a month older than Maker and has played 2 seasons in college already. Skal Labissiere is only 20. The Raptors have no reason to throw away a lottery pick on a player that every scout, GM and journalist says is a late first round pick at best.

just like the knicks were laughed out of the NBA when they drafted Porzingis? please, we also have eyes just like those 'draft experts'.
