I have been fishing for luderick for over 40 years and have never heard anyone refer to luderick as black bream. Other names yes but black bream? Never. Black bream are bream. Different species.

They are commonly called black bream up in se qld , with the proper bream , silver or yellowfin. It's not very accurate , but that's fishing!

I’ve heard it a few times fishing down the south coast. Each to their own I guess.
