Lady Slipper Orchids, genus Cypripedium: what to look for when buying them

Last year was my second attempt at growing a Cyp hybrid, one of the Frosch ones, Anna. About midway through summer it turned black above ground, but there was still a bud under the soil. We'll see if it comes up this spring.
