I’ve been doing some thinking recently about this channel and a thought popped into my mind overnight. It’s been a really interesting journey sharing my love of the piano with everyone all over the world. It still trips me out that I spend an afternoon recording a track (it has to be the afternoon for those curious about the process, as the piano is lit by natural light - it’s best between 1pm - 4pm in the room that I’m recording in), sitting by myself in front of a piano in my music school, and that people from all over the world get to experience a very private moment of my creative process. What I find particularly interesting though is when I listen back to these interpretations, there’s a pretty strong disconnect between playing/recording the tracks and hearing them back. Without a drop of ego, I personally enjoy listening to these tracks either late at night to help me fall asleep, occasionally in the morning when I wake up to find some more motivation about working on my Radiohead songbook, but my favourite time would definitely be when I’m travelling, especially in airports or on planes, and also on public transport. As there are a lot of returning subscribers and listeners on this channel, my question to you is this: Where and when do you listen to these tracks? What are you doing? Working? Studying? Travelling? Eating breakfast? Passing out? What time of day is it? What do you see? How does it make you feel? I’d be very curious to hear your thoughts, so hit me up. As always, thanks for supporting the channel and for incorporating this music into your lives. Man, the internet blows my mind sometimes x
Josh Cohen I'm listening to this on my lunch break, in a little corner in the shade overlooking the beach. I'm a supermarket bakery employee. Listening to you helps me unwind after a stressful morning. I love the piano too, makes me wish I was home playing :) thank you for the beautiful music, it made my day
Hey there, thanks for the message. Is there any chance you can send me a photo of where you're describing? hello [at] joshcohenmusic [dot] com. Where do you live? I'd love to see it! 😃
I don't have any photos I've taken of the place, and I'm at home right now (it's my day off), but you can search "Portugal olhos de agua praia" in Google images. I live in Albufeira, it's a small city on the Southern coast of Portugal.
I'm listening to you play as I write long and heartfelt messages to my juniors in school after completing what was our final event together as a committee. Beautiful stuff. The music that is.

I really love your Radiohead arrangements. But "teardrop" is one of my favorite covers by you!! Amazing how you let the different melodies from the original interact. This brings the song to a whole new level. I tried to do it by myself using the original score and try to look at your fingering. But I would give a lot to see this masterpiece as sheet music... Thanks for your moments of relaxation!
I was just going to leave a comment about sheet music for this song. I’d love to purchase one of this arrangement. I also tried for a few years to interpret/improvise while reading my sheet music (stock standard) and it’s not achieving the same result. I love the bass line of this arrangement. It flows. Would love to buy the sheet music transcription of this arrangement.
Im sitting at my 1923 Gaveau 6’10’’ grand piano in scotland looking out my window towards the sea through the rain and listening to your interpritation of this classic and just had to say its just the way im going to play it from now on. Thankyou .
Hi Josh, I've lost count of how many times I've listened to your version of Teardrops but as an occasional hobby weekend pianist who heavily relies on being led by sheet music (not learning by ear) I'm don't improvise very often. Suddenly I can hear your version being played (the left hand flowing chords), it started flowing out of me and I ran with it. Just wanted to say, thanks for sharing your art and inspiring me & probably countless others.
You’re most welcome. It’s a great step in the right direction if you can start to think off the page. It’s a slow process, but the rewards will be far greater in the long run. Good luck!
This arrangement is truly beautiful, I have no words for this. Just close your eyes and enjoy every minute of it. I would do everything to play this and every day I am searching for a way to learn this. Please please please publish the sheet music for this one song. You can not believe what this would mean for a lot of people including me. I wish you all the best and I hope you will never stop playing the piano
I have 5 acres in southern Oregon. When walking to our mail box (prob 6 acres away) I’ve been listening to this video. Stunning and inspiring. Ive taught my 8 year old son the first part of this and both love it. Thank you so much!
WOW!!! I am an aspiring daydreamer and am learning how to play piano late in life, your talent and dedication to the pure sound of music is an inspiration. Your rendition is beautiful and musically poetic. I wish I could play as well as you do ... someday? Please continue with your posts they are truely wonderful.
I can’t begin to imagine how it must feel to have such a talent that resonates with people from all walks of life. I salute you - breath taking, thank you.
This is one of those things that stops you in your tracks and everything just seems so much clearer and more poignant. Where even just saying this is wonderful doesnt even come close. It's one of those moments where you just look up at the person playing and everything you need to know about how that impacted on the person listening is in their eyes. This is one of those things that can only be explained in a feeling.
I really love it too. I haven't really had the opportunity to spend as much time as I have on this instrument with other pianos, but my style of playing doesn't suit a Yamaha. I've played a lot of Steinways and few other premium pianos, but for bang for your buck, the Kawai is a really beautifully rounded piano.
Wow what an awesome cover of this song...! Normally I only learn new pieces with sheet music, but this cover of yours made me start to learn by ear. Of course, I still need to look at your fingers, but with the specific chords in mind I'm actually not doing so bad for now 😸🙌🏼
There are so many great, talented, and creative pianists we are all blessed to enjoy on UA-cam, and I usually struggle to choose one "favorite." With that being said, having now discovered Josh Cohen, I now only have difficulty deciding what my second favorite would be :) Everything I've heard so far is so complex and interesting, with lots of musical "meat" to dig into, so to speak, yet it is presented so simply and cleanly that it's never too busy or cluttered. Fantastic content that really compliments the original songs.
@@joshcohenmusic I'm working my way through your content, you are truly a hidden gem on UA-cam. Very few covers evoke such a powerful emotional response from me like yours do. Absolutely stunning and inspirational work. Looking forward to hearing more from you!

Aw awesome. I think Roads by Portishead is definitely in the same realm as this song! A Fiona Apple song would be brilliant too. Perhaps Not about love? The part at roughly 2:35 in it seems as though it'd be a pretty exciting part to undertake
Cool, I might look into a Portishead track. It was the next obvious choice after Massive Attack. Just need to think of a track that will translate well.

You NAILED it, and added some very nice touches! Thank you for REALLY respecting this song!
