Grover, still the man in 2023!
The Man! One of the Very Best Saxophonist on the planet! It’s a real blessing that although he left us? His music will be here for us to enjoy! Thank you, Grover!
A whole Blessing.....
The only sad thing about the thumbs up icon is that you can't hit it multiple times. I remember the exact time and place I was on Dec 17, 1999, when I heard of the passing of Grover Washington Jr, on the radio. Sad day for me😢. My most favourite jazz artist and saxophonist.
Washington described his music as "short stories without words". Beautiful musical words ❤️
Whoever thumbs down this song don't know anything about life or music St Louis in the house
This is the essence of the early 70's. If you didn't live it this is a taste.
Today, Tuesday December 17, 2019, marks the 20th anniversary of the passing of saxophonist, composer, producer and bandleader Grover Washington Jr.
His wonderful music is ours to enjoy for eternity.
His legacy is enduring and undeniable.
Grover Forever!!!!

Oh yeah... He is bad... Been listening to Grover since 1974. Seen him several times in concert. Just as good live as in the studio. Maybe better.. Michael Brecker loved him. God bless him. I was so sad when he passed.

I love Eric Gale's guitar licks on this version - very tasty!
Ahh, thanks for identifying him. Completely sounded like Mr. Gale's runs and sustains but I still wasn't sure.
OH HELL YEAH..... subtle but so sweet & direct
Eric was the master
This was a great period for this music and during this time along with the CTI label which was very strong during that time.
Yes indeed, Creed Taylor and Columbia had a killer stable during the 1970s...AND this cut proving Grover could play with the best of them is only one of many.
What a wonderful post & must let others hear!
studious, captivating
Thanks aquarianrealm ! As per usual you post the utmost in classic jams!
If this is trouble, thats where I want to be.
Late 90s got to see him live in Las Vegas got off the pipe just in time to see one of the GOATS
Glad you put yo pipe down.
GOOD GROOVIN' GROVER
The one and only Grover Washington Jr! First time I heard him play was October 1971. I had to ask someone near by who this artist was. I was attending a CTI jazz festival in Chicago at the civic opera house. Grover Washington Jr keeps sounding better and better every year that I keep listening to him. I think Grover played everything perfect, he was truly a virtuosity saxophonist, and a musical genius. I can't get enough of Grover! Wow! Thank you so much for posting this!
