I love all my love all of your videos but this one I found so interesting. Even though it was a makeup video, today’s video has Substance. At this point we seen you blossom from “playing” with makeup to now
Slaying looks. Now we get to see your intellectual skills. And I’m appreciative we get to see this part of you. I’m praying you stay healthy because you’re on a roll. Your babes are all cheering for you and with you. The journey to luxury makeup reviews we’re good with you on.
They can act like they don't see you, but you're here to make and will make a change. You've really upped your game. We are all happy to see you being so passionate about, your fair reviews will definitely bring change to the luxury beauty space. Finally some who can be trusted
They better see and acknowledge she’s in their space. I love high end and luxury makeup, until now I sat down and waited for my girl to tell us the Truth on high end launches and struggle on luxury makeup. Now I have her for luxury as well.
Very interesting and substantive conversation, love that you decided to take this on.
You are so right. Luxurious brands must realize that women of color are not going to settle for less quality, or less availability in color selections and shades. Thank you for addressing this issue regarding the beauty industry.
I'm happy I tune in. At this point we needed this discussion, most of us know how to apply makeup. We watch review videos to tell us information about the quality of products, what shde is best for us. Unfortunately far too many UA-cams aren't helping us with that
You know I love luxury makeup and have seen some UA-camrs just straight up making a fool of themselves bending backwards to make luxury makeup especially foundations work. Not all off them, but there are some who just shouldn't be in this space, show off with your family and friends. We come here looking for serious people who can be who's reviews and recommendations mean something and can be trusted. I for one i'm happy you're moving in this direction
One we know Mel, is Bernie is not beholden to anyone but use, she's the real deal. I'm so happy to see her healthy enough to be turning out new videos on a weekly bases
What I appreciate about how you went about with this topic is that you didn’t do in a mean spirited way. You go have said the name of the nail polish company but chose not too. And you gave Tom Ford credit for becoming more inclusive with their newer products. There was no bashing of any brand or the creators in the luxury niche, the discussion was matter of fact. This is why we trust your opinion and recommendations. As you continue to grow and spread your wings, don’t change yourself.
Hey Bernie, this was a great video. Our darkskin is so pretty, I don't understand why we tefuse to embrace it.
You are needed in this space.
Bernie, you did such a great job opening the door for this conversation. Ivy unsubscribed to so much of these so called luxury influencers.
This is the kind of conten we need in the beauty Community
It's so good to see you using this platform for change
1st Bernie it's great to see you're back looking good and uploading videos again. I wasn't even aware you were back. Don't worry I'll be all current. I enjoyed this video because it was do informative. I'm sure you can start the change you want to. Your honesty will force others to be honest themselves. 😘
This was the most interesting video in the beauty Community ive heard since ive been watching youtube beaity videoes
Where have you been, what a breath of fresh air you are. Happy to join your family. It's great to see you giving back to your supporter. I don't think I've seen expensive give aways like this before
I think you are the perfect person to bring attention to this. I love luxury makeup, but I'm of a deeper skin and I find most of the shades recommended here as useless. Happy someone I trust is getting into this side of beauty
Hit it out the park. I hipe the last two tumbnauls are part of your new branding. I love that you'te upping your game. It will contuine to pay off
This a great conversation, you know we with you in whatever you do.
Thankyou for a conversation that was well overdue
Thankyou this topic needed to be addressed
Very insightful disucssion
Great conversation Bernie
It's about time we start embracing our skin
Yesssssss Bernie
So far I’ve seen what 3 expensive luxury foundation reviews from you. All are equally as beautiful and now I want all, my paycheck is gone. After watching you review it’s hard to leave not feeling like you have all the information needed to decide on if you want to invest in the foundations. This video I did find interesting, I love luxury makeup but I do agree the shade range leaves much to be desired, especially for those of a deeper skincare tone. Hopefully the powers to be are watching and taking notes. Oh, I just looked up this foundation and apparently to price is now $135, it would have been nice if that came with a shade extension. We can not hope.
Well you said it all. This foundation is pretty
This is a much need conversation. I too think the high price and lack of shades is their way of saying they don't POC using their products
I enjoyed this conversation, I’m not a makeup veteran but I know what I like and know what I don’t know. I wanted this foundation so I looked to a UA-camr that is supposed to be my shade twin, I have the same shade as this person in one or two foundations. I went with the shade she recommended, mind you, the foundation looked of, but I’m not the luxury “beauty influencer”, so against my better judgment I ordered the shade recommended, from LaMer, that foundation was so light, I looked crazy. This was during the height of the pandemic, LaMer refused to exchange it, because it was used. I lost $125 behind bad recommendation. The person told me, I could make it work by setting it with a deep setting powder. I’m not an idiot, so I didn’t take that advice. That’s when I started to lose faith and trust for beauty UA-camrs. I wish I had found your channel back them. Can you please list your foundation shades for us?
Not since Jackie Aina back in the day have we seen a serious conversation discussing brands not being inclusive. I hope you continue to have this conversation. I think one person will lead to more people feeling they too can have this conversation
I agree with you 100%, having this conversation like this can bring about change. It only takes one person to start the conversation
Well, now Bernie has picked up the mantle.. and that's a good thing
I enjoyed this video
Lovely.
Bernie the shade was real but it needed to be said. If a brand don't think it necessary to have a decent shade range that's their right. They should know its my rights to supply companies that see value in me. This is a beautiful foundation but at this point La Mer should more shades. Its clear whose $$ they want.
Hey Bernie it's been so long since I've been on UA-cam, My Crohn's has been out of control. How have you been, hopefully better than me
When you know you know. There's one luxury dark-skin creator that blocked for telling her to stop wasting money and my time. You and I are shade twins she's much darker but in some, all but one foundation she's using shades that are so light she looks ashy AF. Her skin has some issues but that can be fixed with good skincare. I guess she prefers looking ashy, but don't tell us to waste our money. Long rant over 😆
I’m torn, the issue is with the same people you have working relationships with. Yes some of these UA-camrs panders to get free makeup but that’s part of the game. Not everyone can afford to continue to buy makeup to review and I think that’s what you’re forgetting. You don’t get to give the product a good review and say you’re calling La Mer out.If you have such a problem, don’t review the foundation at all
How else is she going to use her platform and if she just boycotts them. I think up missed the point
I get what you’re saying but I think you’re putting too much of the responsibility on the content creators and not enough on La Mer. Could that be because this foundation was given to you? Just like you, I’m sure these creators would like to one day receive makeup for review. If they bash a luxury brand (you do know La Mar is an Estee Lauder brand), can you imagine how many brands will potentially not want to work with them? Maybe when they get where you are they will be in a position to be more critical of power house companies. You have not made it a secret you’re well off, if you damage your chances with working with brands, you will still be able to get (buy) makeup to create content with.
Thank you for your comment. My opinions are based on my experience with a product, it is never influenced by PR, or sponsorship. I seek to give fair and unbiased reviews. I’m sorry if that was not clearly articulated in your from your point of view, there’s always room for improvement.
Today we got deep. Frankly I would never paid this much for a foundation. That's crazy to me. I'm not interested in this kind of content. You're reviewing something most of us can't afford. What's the point of showing us things we can't afford? I get it you didn't pay for yours good for you. To me it's all showing off. If this is the direction you're going in you will lose most of us, including the people agreeing with you. Have you ever seen someone like Jackie Aina reviewing a foundation that cost this much
I don’t agree with you, there’s nothing wrong with this kind of content and I have no issue spending money on something I want and can afford. Jackie, are you not on TikTok or Instagram? She shows off the
Fruits of her labor and again there’s nothing wrong with that
@@ajniajacobs1429. You already know, this is the difference what our community, know one says anything when pale skin UA-camrs reviews expensive makeup, but when it’s our own it’s a problem.
@@michlinjones2280 I dont think its anout race. She cant afford to spend this much on makeup and thats ok. I'm white I just love Bernies honest reviews
@@leeyuker165. I don’t think she was meaning it like that, it’s more about us supporting each each other
Hey Babes Hope you're all doing well and are safe. I'm looking forward to us finishing this conversation in the comment section. I'm really interested in hearing your thoughts on this one.
Yes, Bernie this is a conversation that is over due.
Finally, someone is addressing this. This is why I love your videos. Great to seeing you pivoting to advocating for change
@@alvonfranks3481 , I find her passion so inspiring. We know Bernie can multi task, she reviewed the heck out of this foundation while holding everyone accountable.
It’s not just you, I’ve noticed this trend too. They’re not helping me so I unsubscribed from their channels. One repeat oftener in my mind
I enjoyed this video, I hope this is just the beginning of this discussion. Just like it took years of lobbying for more shades in high end and drugstore makeup, it’s going to be up to everyone to open the eyes of Estée Lauder the parent company of many of these luxury brands. Hopefully it won’t take as long to bring them around. Good job B
