- This step-by-step tutorial explains how to install a spindle upgrade on the Longmill MK1 and MK2 CNC routers.
If you are upgrading your Longmill CNC router to a spindle, I walk you through the prosses each step of the way. We are installing the PwnCNC spindle plug-and-play systems in this video.

This was exactly what i needed. looking to order my longmill next month along with the spindle and wanted to make sure i had everything for the water cooled spindle.
JNKBCS, glad to hear this one helped you brother! I bet you are excited to upgrade.
I'm thinking, why not make the holes for the fluid lines with the cnc, before starting the project of upgrade.
Also, i would have cut a groove in the bucket to just under the line of the lid. That way the lid will be pretty tight against dust and debris.
Just my thoughts.

ernsteliden6719, that is a great idea brother! I like that. Give it a shot and see how it goes.
I recommend adding a flow indicator to any water cooler for a spindle. This lets you know at a glance if there is good flow.

Just watched the video, thanks for the info because my MK 2.5 is ordered, the spindle is ordered, so I'm trying to learn as much as I can about the installation process. Question, why 3 larger drag chains if the router only uses 2?
mikewalden2243, Congratulations on your new MK 2.5 and spindle order! The reason for three larger drag chains is to provide flexibility for potential future upgrades or additions to your machine setup. It's always good to have extra capacity for any enhancements you may want to make down the road. Happy woodworking!
Hi Garrett, I designed a fan shroud for the fan on top of the VFD. The shroud should stop wood chips and shavings getting inside the VFD. I put the design files on cults3d.

Pls don't forget to mention that moving to a pwncnc spindle you loose the ability to use the sienci labs laser unit. I use both. Love the pwncnc spindle just bought one.
garygraham3915, good point on that one brother! It would be amazing to be able to have support for both.
why not use automotive antifreeze for coolant? My understanding is that windshield washer fluid is pretty corrosive.
jayfluegel7401, that would work well too brother! You need to keep antifreeze safe around pets thought as it is toxic.
I was thinking the same, but then a thought that in case of a leaking i much rather have etanol on everything then glykol. No mess with wider fluid.
