    There were 2 different versions EH 185 looks like the more complex schematic takes 6J7 tubes and Bass and Treble …the 6SQ7 version is extremely simple and only has a single tone control

      Thanks for your comments. This amp has separate tone controls. Would like to hear the other one because simpler can definitely be better - less components in the way, more direct signal path

      @@1horton3 absolutely I’m also looking to hear how much both amps can break up. These are getting very expensive now-a-days . I suppose the tubes are harder to find an very unique. I like the history and technical aspects as well

    Oh come on, the parts in these amps, are variable by ten %. No two, even the same model # will ever sound the same.

      Agreed… same goes for a lot of old gear of this nature.

      Actually back then component tolerance was 20%

      It depends on the job. The little one is more aggressive, the bigger one can stay clean longer but has a massive presence with the low end
