When he said “you have all the sound in your hands” it just felt so deep, it’s exactly what I feel, Dudamel is just such a big inspiration.
Wow I love how Dudamel is so positive in the way he asks the orchestra to play and change. I envy his ability to express so freely. He really puts himself out there

from Christiane : Gustavo Dudamel is incredible !!! Fantastic conductor and human being ! and I love his accent !!!!
What an incredible experience this must be!
I really do feel for those young students - having Dudamel guiding you you've really gotta know your stuff!
What a person!! So kind and so unique!!! A gift from G-d to the world!!!

Thank you!!
It's funny how everyone becomes such an "expert" and "critic" here. I saw him in person last night and he's really something for being as young as he is.
Me dan escalofríos y eso quiere decir: intensidad, genial!!!!! Intenso este joven director, magnífico
Dudamel seems to know musical scores by heart, especially Mahler's, he must have a visual memory or something
He probably has man, there are some bad ahh maestros who conduct without the sheet music
I love 6:50 where the woman conductor smiles from his encouragement

He is such an inspirational conductor. And in fact I am not even a musician haha
Sry for my english. Great video!
I am hoping to see Dudamel in Barcelona in 2023 at the Gran Teatre del Liceu. I am not a list maker, but I want to see him conduct before I die.
Me too at least once.
I make the same funny faces when I conduct Mahler 5 at home alone.
lol
David J Gill me too, but sometimes I feel as I'm a clown.lololo
Ahahahaha me too man, eventhough i composed it
He is Venezuala's national treasure. Mature beyond his years. I thought Esa-Pekka was young when he started but this boy is real treasure.
Esa Pekka is much better
It is indeed. He's the Philharmonia's Principal Trumpet Mark David.
Always gotta have the conductors hair! :-)
Evan James haha 100% agree.
I love so much about this, except his conducting of the entire trumpet solo. I can think of very few trumpet players who want the conductor to get in the way of this massive solo during the performance.
@AbsoluteZ3R0 - I rather believe that Dudamel (being front and center of an orchestra that's playing an inspired performance after a lot of hard work) feels sublime joy upon hearing the music playing in perfect harmony and so dearly expressing the emotions intended by the composer, be it happy or sad.
The main thing I dislike about Dudamel's conducting is that no matter what he's conducting, he always seems happy. He seemed happy when he was conducting the climax of 2nd movement of Shostakovich's 10th symphony, and he seemed happy at 2:49. It seems like he's always having a lot of fun, which is a great thing, but I want to see some anguish and rage sometimes (often actually).
AbsoluteZ3R0 watch him conducting Baba Yaga-Mussogrsky there's truly rage
AbsoluteZ3R0 two words:
Baba
Yaga
@@gua35470 Well to be fair, he does look like he's enjoying that performance as well, even though there's rage. But I don't think that's a bad thing. Music is supposed to be one of the joys of life. Even with music meant to be sad, aggressive, terrifying, etc. it's not supposed to be a negative experience for the musicians or audience. Why would we listen to music if it was altogether unpleasant?
For example, Shostokovich's 10th Symphony movement 2 is filled with a horrifying power, and it makes you imagine Stalin's oppressive regime, or war and turmoil in general. But... I like it. It's one of my absolute favorite pieces! I don't think that's sick or anything, and it doesn't mean I like oppression or war - it's just the way music is. The expression of emotion and the skill of the orchestra create an element of joy even in the bleakest of emotions.
@TheStockwell How about Dudamel being from a family of limited economic means. Being from the provinces of Venezuela, and shooting to the top of the classical music world. Those conductors whom you mentioned come from wealthy upper class european backgrounds makes Dudamel and Venezuela all the more IMPRESSIVE. He must be thanking God that he was not born a Latino in the USA.
Oh my, this Philharmonia Orchestra is sounding like the legendary Chicago Symphony Orchestra under Solti
How do they guys know these score so we’ll?
If you listen to the same song for so many times over the years, and also playing it, it's fairly easy to memorise it note by note. What I think is rather imprssive is that these symphonies are usually very long, like 1 hour or so. It's crazy how one knows every bar, ever note, every rhythm and dynamics at heart. I guess they just practiced well. I miss playing clarinet 😭
Where does part on 2:33 show up in the entire piece? I literally listen to this part over and over again :P
First movement
that kind of feel for the music .... can not be taught. His students are too stiff... maybe with confidence of experience they will flow more.
Where can I find the entire masterclass?
We're afraid that's not available to view. Thanks for spending time on our channel!
wow
Le prove molto impegnative di Gustavo Dudamel!
@kuan12345 Man, I wish people would stop making a big deal about Dudamel being young. He's thrilling but most conductors are in front of orchestras by the time they're in their twenties. Toscanini was conducting entire operas when he was in his 20s. Heck, Lorin Maazel - you'd consider him old - was taking conducting lessons at 7 and conducted at age 8. What's impressive is the level of success Dudamel has had so far. But the thing about him being young is, seriously, not unique or amazing.
woooooooooooow super very awsome
is the trumpet the same guy who played pictures at an exhibition with salonen on another video on youtube?
Dudamel ama a música
Great Video! Is Gustavo Dudamel using the Critical Edition?
genio!
@TheStockwell No, you are wrong. Dudamel had his own orchestra at age sixteen! Toscanini came from Italy, the country of the Renaissance, Verdi, Rossini, and all the great composers of Italy and Europe. That was the envoronment that Toscanini came from. Dudamel came from the provences of Venezuela, a country plunder by Spain and the USA, It has a history of slavery, plantations, extreme exploitation corruption and violence. It is a testamony to the Bolivarian Revolution that produced Dudamel.
That is not true. Dudamel started with El Sistema when he was 4 many years old many years before Chávez .
@@ivonneosorio8204 Chávez poured millions of dollars into El Sistema as did President Maduro in spite of the brutal economic war by the United States.
@@ivonneosorio8204 Chavez significantly improved El Sistema by drastically increasing its budget and thus tripling the amount of students and orchestras in spite of a economic blockade. This is the opinion of the United States back anti Chavistas.
I have no idea why do you use to talk about politics. EL SISTEMA is working very good because politics are not there. Sooooo please let’s leave EL SISTEMA out of it. Young people and children need it. Please.
@@ivonneosorio8204 I praise Maduro for increasing it’s budget inspite of the cruel economic blockade.
@padredemishijos12 Toscanini's father was a tailor, not "a wealthy upper class european." I'm talking about his age. You're talking about his family's financial background. You're changing the subject and not addressing my comments at all. I understand.
where does he get his batons...
😅
I was 8 when this recorded💀
That hair...
@padredemishijos12 Toscanini's father was a tailor, not "a wealthy upper class european." I'm talking about his age. You're talking about his family's financial background. You're constantly changing the subject and not addressing my comments at all. "Slavery, plantations, extreme exploitation corruption, and violence" - is that all Dudamel represents? I'm trying to learn about Dudamel's musicianship and it isn't happening here. Dave, this conversation can serve no purpose anymore.
Using the whole body? Hm, it'd be interesting to see how Pierre Boulez or Celibidache would say to that. Theirs is a much more reserved school...
This is a joke man........a show business...he was educated in this way...is not his fault....Boulez, Celibidache is far away from this....this guy is joking with music.......horrible....Greetings.
