My long time Cambodian-American girlfriend spent 9 years in a refuge camp in Thailand and came to America with her father when she was 17 years old. She now lives in Long Beach, California and has raised 6 children in America. Long Beach has the largest number of Cambodians who fled Pol Pot. Lowell Massachusetts has the next largest population of emigrant Cambodians. I love these people.
I used this video to supplement our homeschool Social Studies lesson this morning. All I can say is, FANTASTIC! My son has been wanting to learn more about Cambodia. He has autism, so a 5 minute video wouldn't cut it, as he needs the "who, what, when, where, why, and how" of things. This video gives an intimate look into the lifestyle of the Cambodian people, and we loved it! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
What a very beautiful transition around 25 minutes in this careful crafted movie. what I mean is the transsistion from the big tree praise to the boat-rapair-site. The sound-work SO carefull one gets carried into the frame . . and then even better . . quite some time into this small boat-repair-shop . . the narration foresy its farewell in near future . . because of glassfiber taking over from wood for boat building. THANKS A LOT
3:10: 🌊 The narrator reflects on their dreams and memories as a new day begins amidst chaos, and expresses gratitude. They then describe their journey on the Mekong River in Cambodia, highlighting its significance as a popular adventure destination. 11:56: 👨👩👧👦 The speaker discusses his desire to share knowledge with children in his village and his close-knit family. 25:29: 🛶 The loss of traditional wooden boat making workshops and the reliance on foreign materials and machinery is a concerning change. 35:42: 🛕 Monks in the Mekong region follow a religious education and have unexpectedly busy days. 47:03: 🐘 The elephant was an important part of the village's economy, but is no longer used for work requiring strength. It was owned by the narrator's parents and shared with other villagers. Recap by Tammy AI
The house on 16:06, i know that kind of house. During 1980s, when i was in fishing village in the Philippines, there were families lived happily together in that kind of house. I envy them.
Lot in common with countries as Sri Lanka, India except for the North, Mayanmar, Thailand etc. However captive elephant's conception is celebrated in other parts of the world. It is considered a blessing as it brings money and fame to the owner.
Well, I came across a person who made it his life effort to consume MSG every day. Maybe MSG is very beneficial for the brain that is why they say its bad for us?
Th point of video is for people to see the subject, not so that people can't quite see anything because of double projection, blurring and clever video tricks.
What if is it is all true? Those spirits of the dead giants from the past are very demanding of these beliefs. So if they don't get what is demanded by them from the people they will harm them as the belief goes. This is why they are known as evil spirits!
Us, old original Cambodians, do not kill or cut unless we need to eat; and if we do, we pray for the forest elves to forgive us because our family needs to eat, these new fishermen that are using strange implements to overfish, are not original Cambodians. They are mostly foreigners who came in right after the war, when we were too weak, and they took over and quickly destroyed our land.

Did AMERICANS ever PAY compensation.
@@tuforu4no. Innocent lives taken and destroyed, those who survived suffered life long ordeals…
No Americans do not pay compensation. They only establish fake democracies 😂 @@tuforu4

And also the helping hands of the young ones to their parents. I can not forget that for a happy family.
Visited cambodia some years back, met a guy named phuc mi. Thought it was an interesting name
Well tried 😄, but in Cambodia it would be pronounced Puk Mi.
@@BobbyAlThorthat’s a Vietnamese name.
In Cambodia every thing is free of choice as long as you don’t break the rules of laws……
Kehidupan yang sangat sederhana. Bravo to cambodian

Too bad their superstitious costing the Elephant of dying out 😢😢

Religion and beliefs that in real make no difference in people's life, but one thing its too good is keep people poor and venurable
Imagine USA spend a Trillion helping Cambodia rebuild...instead of trillion keep waging war

Yes it is true now they destroyed a lot of Cambodian treasures of our ancestors keeping for our nation for centuries and generations 😢
