Production totally played a hand in raj staying. If I remember correctly gordon ignored the people up for elimination and took out raj bc he “couldn’t take it anymore” or something like that. Like there are a lot of times where gordon will keep someone who sucks bc they might improve (which weve seen before) and sometimes production wants to keep on big personalities for views. And raj pissed gordon off endlessly, it doesn’t feel like he was waiting for raj to do better, it felt like he wanted raj out asap.
In many industries they have similar methods for training people. I wouldn't be surprised if Michael learned everything he knows from others doing the same to him when he was starting out. The most valuable lessons in life come from FUBAR mistakes.

Can we just acknowledge how amazing Ralph‘s attitude at the pass was despite his risotto mistake? I didn‘t watch his season but it that’s his general attitude at the pass I would LOVE to work with him. Seriously, as a waiter, I worked with some incredibly terrible chefs in my time. The worst of all was the last restaurant I worked in though. It was a newly opened hotel with three restaurants, I worked in the main one and the kitchen team was a bunch of absolute jerks. It took over a year for them to understand that they‘re behavior towards the service team caused people to literally quit because nothing we tried worked. We weren‘t a bunch of incompetent idiots, we just had a lot of students who worked beside college and people who have been working service for a long time but had no specific education for it. It was a new place, pretty fancy, new teams who had to get to know each other and lots of stress all around. That isn‘t a reason though to scream full-on madman mode at the service team for mistakes the chefs made though. So yeah, if we would have had a head chef like Ralph with the attitude from this clip it would have been a walk in the fucking park.
