I don’t know what it is about the “shark foot” blade that appeals to me but I just ordered one to go with my AD20.5 clip point blade knives. Great knife review video.
maybe do a before and after the regrind...show us the difference between the two?....i had this knife at the top of my get list but after seeing all the new stuff about to be released i'm not so sure anymore....looking forward to that little front flipper from civivi, and that titanium frame lock flipper from buck with the s45 blade steel
That would be a sweet video. But I personally wouldn’t mind a thicker blade BTE when it’s supposed to fit into a “hard use” role. I would totally be fine with a thicker edge, and I use small knives for larger tasks by choice sometimes if the blade is tall enough like that. But that’s a killer idea for a video. Sweet idea eric.
@@jonduncansakurawallknifegarden yeah i think this knife could stand a little steel removal bte without effecting the strength but also it is fine as it sits, imho the frn makes it feel extremely lightweight so its more of a regular user than a hard user imo i have no doubt the lock isnt extremely strong but side to side has flex
Definately would love to see a before and after review to see how well it holds up after a regrind. Pretty sure their planning upgraded models in the future. Micarta and m390 would be awesome. Keep making sharp things fun and enjoyable
@Todd Carr just got a back in stock notification from WMK on a sweet Twosun in M390, I don't know if you had one picked, but I think you were looking for one. Its the ts134 Shockwave with sand titanium $119, no issues with shipping ✌
@@_MiMo_ thanks for the update ended up grabbing the TS16-M390 from white mountain had no problems as of yet with the orders I've put in. Got 4 orders in total. Great place for 🇨🇦 to buy from.
@@NeevesKnives Nice, got mine from Karbadize, really really want to get some titaniums too, well everything that dude makes is just so damn good looking
The fat stop pin is something i've been looking for more and more. I know it's not likely to ever break with my hard use being opening my mail, but old machinist in the back of my mind says, "If it's gonna fail that's where it's gonna go..."
Hardware screws first. Or the pivot bushings and then the lock and frame. I’ve seen some crazy stuff online. Even blade hq has some really interesting lock breaking videos I remember from a few years ago. With a cold steel against benchmade and spuderco in those videos.
@@jonduncansakurawallknifegarden I remember that video, they clamped the blade and hung weights off the handle. While a great test of the lock, it's the opposite of the pressure that you put on a knife flipping it open or cutting with it. All that pressure is pivot, stop pin and then body screws. I get what you're saying though, if the scales won't hold together, what's the point of having strong pivots, locks, etc.
Think I’ll wait for the next gen on this one. Over priced for Aus10 and plastic, unfortunately an upgraded model should be the same price as this current model, but we know it will probably hit close to the $200 mark and that would be over priced also. We will pay for the shark lock even though to me it’s just not that “special”. There are so many American made Spyderco and Benchmade knives at the same price point, the AD brand needs to come down to Earth.
Definitely, and i do as well but im not saying as a preference basically just because its smaller, i like carrying all sizes just depends and the regular ad20 i think is great but i know its large for many, i think most people carry around this size knife, and its not really the length that makes the one large or the other small its how thin or thick they are in this case
AUS-10 Steel AUS-10 steel is a stainless steel. It is also known as AUS-10A steel or for short simply 10A steel. This steel is made by Aichi Foundry situated in Japan and one of the best product among the AUS series of steel. Some companies except for Aichi Foundry name their steel as AUS-10A steel instead of AUS-10 steel in an attempt to differentiate. In short Aus 10 and 10a are the same.
aus10 is better than aus 8 its very similar to vg10 If you like vg10 then you will like aus10 also similar to 154cm and better than 440c which is similar to 9cr, im not familiar to aus10a if its the same as aus10
Like the sharkfoot blade shape, and overall size is great for EDC, but for me I would rather have titanium scales. I currently have the full-size AD-20 with ti scales, and it is a beast, but not really great for every day pocket carry. Looking forward to see your full review.
Yeah i agree hopefully we see some aftermarket scales im guessing Demko will release some as well id love to see some micarta as well come by the live tonight guys 730 pm central EVERY Wednesday and Saturday its going to be one of the subjects
Both of the blade shapes have pros and cons I could not decide which one to get either I went with the sharks foot finally. Metal complex has both and he found himself grabbing the sharks foot one more often and our tastes tend to be similar with other knives soo..... But now I'm wishing I got the other one too, lm second guessing myself LOL maybe I'll get both eventually 😅
Yeah its tough when both blade shapes fit you or that you like both, the clip point will be a bit more versatile but the sharkfoot will do utility cuts better, im probably going to talk about subjects like this one tonight at the live
Okay, why is it a huge problem that the Bugout's scales bend but no one has batted ONE EYELASH at the AD20.5 having scales that can also bend? People treat it like it's the end of the world with the Bugout but I guess Demko just gets a pass.
Plastic is a huge turn off and gotta go. Yeah, the screws are small, but it's plastic. I'd love to see it with more premium handle materials and better screws. I like that blade shape as well and wouldn't change it. I'd change the clip too. That all sounds bad, but I like it. Just needs improved a bit.
Why do people hate the plastic handle scales and say it's so cheap feeling but the spiderco lightweight knives scales feel and look even cheaper and dude's don't say nothing weird
The reason is the way they are machined, spyderco are thick and have almost no flex on certain models ofcourse there's examples that do, and I would complain about them as well, and you can get most of there knives in g10 if you don't like them, now Demko has a lot of options as well I actually have a video going up soon with a new version of the 20.5
Yeah im sure they are, i believe most places are shipping out rt now so some will wind up getting re sold from the folks that dont like them, and im sure it wont be long until more are available try to put a pre order in you might get lucky on a return or something

I don't mind frn or gfn but I definitely don't like it on knives that for the same price I can get full titanium on, atleast I want g10, it feels like cheap plastic to me, g10 while being made out of fiber glass is still like plastic, it's not molded like frn it's cut out by machine and I prefer it over frn.
