Not joking, these are some of the BEST drone footage I ever saw, and I saw A LOT! The reason I say that is because these shot manage to successfully capture the size and heaviness of these waves. Also, there's nothing better than hearing the natural sound of the waves and nature, without cringe music. Thank you for your work!
Definitely well written . Author has immense respect for Madeira break and how dangerous it can get. Keeps crowds out at this size. Interesting the local population personality part.
wow, epic. unique. i like that you showed completely those two beat-downs in their entirety. what a session, some fabulous waves ridden, deeper and deeper. respect.
My thoughts exactly! Don't usually get to see that viewpoint. I've been there on much smaller waves. With those mackers, I prefer watching from a screen
the coastal cliffs and village footage is something that is worth continuing on it's own merit - it is spectacular and I haven't seen much like it before - well done
paddle back out after getting rolled up 2 or 3 times by such heavy Monsters? good God Almighty are these guys Atlantians? awesome drone footage Yo 🤙🏼great edit! ty
I know you can't get it from a drone, but it would be v cool to have the bass track of the waves on this video. The Nazare had my subwoofers thumping. As I understand it, that is one of the most impressive things about it.
Wonderful footage very skillfully captured! That was class! Also really appreciate the sound of the ocean and not some arbitrary music, I can smell the sea water 🌊😀 What drone for the water shots Johannes?
Seems like a hard wave to get into. Like it’s only vertical for a moment, and the take off is bumpy. It’s nice that it’s next to a channel, but kind of a bummer that it shuts down and flattens so fast. It’s probably not a bad time but not on my list either. Great video.
good video would be good to see a few more zoomed out clips, majority of the waves ridden were zoomed up which was fine but mix it up a bit with some slightly more zoomed out clips. there were a few at the end of the vid
Dang! It's a bit of a spooky spot. Note: It's "Ma-ca-ro-nesia", NOT 'ma-ra-co-nesia' as it says in the title of the video ( I had to look it up )! Trivia: The movie "Enemy Mine", staring Denny Quaid, was shot not too far ( in Lanzarote, Canary Islands ).
@@danseng3747 Erm no, the movie, Enemy Mine, was partly shot on a different island, named Lanzarote, some 300 miles south-east of Madeira ( still part of Macaronesia, though ).
the coast of jardim del mar is the south part of Madeira , i was asking myself what low pressure system have generated this massive swell who look like a very long period one ?
I don’t know anything about drones or photography. My question is, I know there are there are 360 degree cameras. Do they make drones with 360 cameras on them? If so, do you use one? If not, why not? If this footage is done with a drone with a 360 camera, disregard all questions…😂

Barbarian Days, one of the best books ever written about surfing. The chapter/s on Madeira are epic
Ocean Beach and Madeira are def the best two chapters!!
Definitely well written . Author has immense respect for Madeira break and how dangerous it can get. Keeps crowds out at this size. Interesting the local population personality part.
A great example of how drones have transformed surfing footage. Beautiful, majestic.
This is one of the most inspiring surfing videos I've EVER seen. Amazing!
No music! Just the magnificent sound of total waves. Falls and follow extended through of not escaping more pounding. Primo stuff. Thank you.
Incredible waves, surfers, and shooting! Thank you for sharing.

Is it better at lower tide? Looks a little mushy
Getting stuck inside sucks
Great, no idle talk, just the feeling when one is surfing, you, waves and it’s sound. Thanks
Power rigths! Big and glass wave! Perfect day! Madeira! My portuguese roots! 🔥👏🏻
the coastal cliffs and village footage is something that is worth continuing on it's own merit - it is spectacular and I haven't seen much like it before - well done
Portugal is such a beautiful place, you've captured it brilliantly . Thanks
Thanks for sharing your work. Beautiful scenery and great waves
Drones have made making great videos so much more accessible.
Beautiful footage Johannes! Well done! Some of the best drone footage I've ever seen.
No AI needed to be touched. Mother nature, courageous surfeurs, a bit of technology, and above all talented artist.
paddle back out after getting rolled up 2 or 3 times by such heavy Monsters? good God Almighty are these guys Atlantians? awesome drone footage Yo 🤙🏼great edit! ty
wow the right tide and swell direction i bet this places turns inside out that very last wave was top to bottom ,, more of that plz
Your videos are insanely good. Thank you.
Min 21.31 sec I think was the biggest wave it was Miguel Blanco ?
Purely epic work .. scored, primarily, by the sea itself (as so rarely filmmakers appreciate the power of)
Loved this video. Closest to the action I've seen any drone get and like to be able to see what the surfers endure when it goes wrong.
Amazing footage
Great drone footage! Thanks for keeping it raw with wave sounds instead of shitty background music.
Thank you for such a good video with no cuts! Appreciate it ! 🤙
Good to see more guys flying low! Good job on the sticks Johannes!
Fantastic film values, gorgeous shots from amazing angles. Really great, nice that it's just wave sounds too.
Just wonderful. Great job Johannes!
Amazing FPV footage
Yes I also read the book and he describes this place so well. Great drone footage #BarbarianDays
Amazing cinematography
Epic footage bro.....more please !

So, the wall messed up small waves but the big ones still work?
Hammer!
Incredible footage. Thanks!
Great job on the footage, editing, etc...
Brilliant ! Many many thanks.
Beautiful footage! Subscribed ❤
Hypnotic and beautiful, a landscape in motion.
Great shooting. Love the ambient shots . Thanks!
Great action, skills and footage 🔥👏
Among the best drone work I’ve seen . Was that the DJI FPV ?
incredible!
Heavy ! Thanks very much
Great stuff !!! Subscribed
visual poetry
One of the most beautifully clean big waves I e seen. Consistent and looks like a dream.
Amazing dude!
Wow epic
So nice.

Is this Jardim do Mar? I wish there were footage like this from before the breakwall. From what I've read it was 100% better....
Those guys on the Big Wave Guns, That is a Long Board Wave. Lol. I'd like to try a little fish there
Good luck with that😂
wow !!!!! oustanding !!!!
wow what a great spot. 😊
Super job of editing. It's good that you got Maverick from Top Gun doing the Drone footage that's nice. But just really overall great video. RLTW 3/75
Excelente momento para os envolvidos, Altas Ondas 🤙
Wonderful footage very skillfully captured! That was class!
Also really appreciate the sound of the ocean and not some arbitrary music, I can smell the sea water 🌊😀
What drone for the water shots Johannes?
Thank you! It’s the Mavic 3 and an FPV drone
WOW 😳 Damn A couple of them drone shots are FANTASTIC phew felt like I was guna drown 😂 Awesome Bro
woooow 😮👍
Wonderful Footage!!!
Agüita es Brutal 💪🏻
Amazing!
magnficent film...
Just majestic

Beautiful backdrop.
Heavy. Not an easy big wave by any means. Solid work guys.
Epic
Great
WOW !!!
beautiful.
Big easy wave, reminds me of Zunsal in El Salvador....😉
Jardim do Mar. Nice and peaceful place.
how deep is the water were the waves are breaking?
Guy on the blue board is next level 😮
good video
would be good to see a few more zoomed out clips, majority of the waves ridden were zoomed up which was fine but mix it up a bit with some slightly more zoomed out clips. there were a few at the end of the vid
Ring camera work man
Looks pretty full? If so low tide would be epic. Nice big and clean though.
No jets, just pure balls
Does this place rarely break?? Such an epic location but never heard of it, how is this possible😂
LOL. what was that at 19:00 ? man that had to hurt
good longboard wave
Check out the scissor legs. Wow, at that size even!
Twig going DEEP!! 13.13
Pretty mellow wave.Big but the peak is not too steep...maybe at low tide=HOLLOW.?
I think someday someone will get a 10 second 60’ barrel here
Jardim do Mar!!!
that O3 air unit is not doing you any favors in the image quality dept
Gotta admire the few analog surfers out there.
It was NAZARÉ GOES XL that had the bass
…where is exactly is this…which island…Madeira has stunningly beautiful water…
The ocean depths on those outside bombs does minimize the brutality of getting caught inside.

Estilo Teolândia costa azul... só que muito mais clássico e gigante...
the coast of jardim del mar is the south part of Madeira , i was asking myself what low pressure system have generated this massive swell who look like a very long period one ?
Jardim DO mar et pas DEL mar, tout comme on dit une favela et pas une favelaSSE. Et y'a pas de Z à la fin des noms de famille.
Beautiful big blue waves, but so mushy on the shoulders...
Açores
MADEIRA ❤️🔥
Lime green wetsuit from 2 days ago must have the flu today
The film is beautiful! But it is not maraconesia but macaronesia...
Ha, my bad. Thank you for letting me know!
