Bodie , CA has got to be the best preserved and most haunted Ghost town in the World. If you have never been there it is definitely worth the trip to see this Town from the 1860's frozen in time. To help keep this national treasure alive just go to the link www.bodiefoundation.org/ and for more vids on Ghost towns, just click this link ua-cam.com/video/ZPoIJAAD_ig/v-deo.html and smash that like button .....smash it HARD !!!!!
Check out Malakoff diggins State Park CA. if you get a chance. Very cool mining town with old hydraulic diggings. My neck of the woods. My mom went to the one room school house in N.Columbia just down the road. I think you would enjoy it.
Thanks Jeff for bringing me, the crippled guy to Bodie on your trip to enjoy, :)
Looks like the same like place of Central City Colorado...should check em out!
I love that town I have been there about 3-4 times in my life. I really wish I could buy that town from the state but I could never afford it!
Jeff…… This hasn’t to be one of the best history videos I’ve ever seen. You put a first person view in this and all your historical videos. This old 68 year old Texan loves his western history. When ever I’m at a site and I can sit down, I close my eyes and try to put myself in their place. Thank you Mr. Williams
I mean it's nice. Here's the deal. I just bought a truck camper. I'm retired now so I plan to travel the west and sort of try to find stuff like that too but I'm
Wow just amazing the old videos. You definitely out did your self brother. Saturday morning Jeff Williams can't ask for anything better. Thank you brother be safe 🙏
I appreciate that my brother ......really glad you liked it
Jeff is kind of a master of diplomacy, networking, and investing in his reputation. Also is observant, enthusiastic, discerning, and educated. Super intelligent feller.
...or is he a fintelligent ieller?
I remember visiting bodie in the 60s with the family ..it was a cold rainy stormy windy day ..i remember that cemetary and asking my father where are all the people at and why did they leave? It wasnt such an inviting place at the time ..thanks jeff great video ..appreciate it
Very cool place! The first time I was there back in the 70s most of the buildings were still open to the public. Then people started stealing things, like the altar cloth in the methodist shurch that had, of all things, the 10 commandments embroidered on it. Wrote one little girl arriving, "goodbye God, I'm going to Bodie.":
I can't wait until I can go exploring like my hero jeff ...
Just be careful and be smart! Have phun! I sure did!
Poignant, sweet, sad, and bittersweet. Bodie, born lived and died in less time than I've been here. Ghosts living there... Loved that turn of phrase. Thanks for the wonderful tour.
Got caught in a brutal hailstorm in good ole Bodie while touring around on my motorcycle! On top of that, the road into good ole Bodie became nothing but miles of wet snot to ride on. Ah Bodie….
Not for the faint of heart, by any stretch!
Thank you for sharing such important and interesting history of old USA, Lila and Jeff. ;o)
Right on time, Jeff I really enjoy watching your videos on Saturday mornings.
Hi jeff first class video friend very interesting please keep the great videos coming friend 🎉🎉for Scotland 😊
thanks my brother from Scotland ....and remember if its not Scottish ....its crap
Clampers kick ass for keeping that all preserved. Good stuff 🫡🫡
Excellent video Jeff. Very interesting and kept my train of thought through the whole thing. Thats really saying something considering my short and getting shorter span of attention! lol Thanks for posting, Sir...
Glad you enjoyed it and rock on my brother
Thank you Jeff and crew. I love these ol'west & mining history videos. American history is so fascinating. As an Australian I grew up glued to the TV watching Western movies and often fantasized of being a cowboy. Simply brilliant
“Goodbye God, I am going to Bodie,” was a statement made by a ten-year old in her journal when her family took her to Bodie during its glory days as a gold rush town.
Do you know the journal or book to lookup? That would sound like an interesting book of someone growing up as a kid there and into an adult
@@koltoncrane3099 That sounds like a horrible book😂
@@jimwednt1229why so?
Bro this is pure unadulterated gold content
316k subscribers? OH HELLLL YEA!
so well deserved!
I used to work for the forest service on the Bridgeport district.
We would always patrol out towards bodie. Some interesting history in this area.
Yeah, just a tiny bit of it. lol
My Great-Great Uncle, James Stuart Cain ended up owning the Standard mine and more. My late cousin, Don Ballard, visited Bodie with me. We recreated an old picture in J.S. Cain's home showing us in front of his fireplace.
thats really cool , thanks for sharing it with us
Only Jeff could make a documentary like this.
Jeff is only there to steal some Bodey gold.
I want some of that GOLD!!!
Happy sprng all! C'Mon, let's go.
Excellent video Jeff, Loved It... you have a great gift of hosting such tours and teaching forgotten history !!! 🌵🌵💀💀👍👍🌵🌵 Oh... my Ant Uncle n Parents were Clampers up in Paradise Ca, above Chico... Parades Party's Camping Out Shooting Fishing Dressing up... the whole 9 yards... aww the good ol days were the VERY BEST OF DAYS EVER !!!
thanks and those are some good memories
Thank you, Jeff Williams, for the incredible UA-cam visit to Bodie, CA! Your insights into the geology, stories, and wonder of Bodie brought back cherished memories of my own visit. I wish for Hollywood to make a documentary movie of Bodie, showcasing its former glory with CG magic. Keep up the fantastic work!
always our pleasure , really glad you liked it
Great history lesson Professor. Really dug the old film footage and photos. I'll bet old Slim is out somewhere visiting with some old girl friends of his. That dang rascal 🤠🐎🏜️
Well. If I worked for $4/day. I'd want to haunt something too. 25:40 A piece of that square wire would be cool. Thanks Jeff and Lila. Nice touch of history.
I feel like I am in fifth grade again. That guys voice was in every clicking clack projector film we ever had.
During the Caldor fire, hubby & I "relocated" to bridgeport for 3 weeks. (First one kicked out, last ones let back in.) I love ghost towns, so we spent a couple of days exploring Bodie. I went there with my grandparents when I was very young. Another favorite we would visit often when I was a kid is Drawbridge. We'd sail from Palo Alto to Alviso every year (Not much of a harbor, but the clubhouse had a bar, kitchen, sturdy tables & a player piano!) then we'd follow the train tracks up to Drawbridge & poke around, looking for relics. Great memories!
I didn't find the town part of Bodie to be all that haunted, at least not in a bad way. It was the hilly area out past the mine and on the other side just beyond the small graveyard that I got some really bad juju vibes!
If you haven't driven down into the Reward mine down by Lone Pine, I highly suggest it! (Serious 4wd is an absolute must and, yeah, it has a few unsettling resident spirits, too!)
thanks for sharing that and we will have to go check that out
Gold, ghost town, and ghosts!? Sign me up. Maybe use the outhouse to reflect on world crap. Many of good ideas have been thought upon crappers.
It's been a number of years since I've been to Bodie but it was very cool. There is what appeared to be a stream of to the side of the Old School House that had pieces of pottery and glass.
Jeff, I really like your stories, and the way you explain the geology of the regions you explore. You are a true educator at heart. Watching your productions, reminds me of the Dudley Pope books I read. He was a British naval historian that put you as crew on the war ships during the 1700's. When you come on , I am in the drift next to you working the face. Thank You for sharing your talent.
thanks..... it is always our pleasure
Another great video Jeff. Thank you for sharing them. I love and respect historical places of forgotten times. Thank you for taking time to capture your journeys on video and sharing them.
Wonderful coverage of Bodie, and great seeing all the old places. Thank you.
awesome presentation jeff . thanks
This was a awesome video. I enjoyed seeing the old town and all its buildings. And love the history. Very interesting. Sadly we can't have anything like this in my country, to many people like taking artifacts and they damage things . Thank you Jeff for showing this Town.
Well done great Vid.......Jeff u the man hope to meet u someday u make my learnings way way better.....
My dad used to take me up there when I was a little kid.
So neat to see it again! Thank you Jeff.
Glad you enjoyed it
@@Askjeffwilliams Ive been watching you for a while and you were my inspiration to buy some gear when i had a small cabin in trabuco canyon california. Lost everything in an arson related forest fire called the Holy Fire in 2018 but I'm considering a new setup to get back out there. thanks again amigo for the years of sharing with us , makes a difference
Wow Jeff, you've outdone yourself with this one.. tho I was expecting you to sneak into one or more of them old shafts and get some samples lol. Really good show man! Thanks.
Excellent video Jeff; historical and geographical education for free. Cheers.
Greatest History's story. Thank, Jeff
i cant imagine anyone having a good time in july in arizona. especially dressed the way the used to. no AC.. those guys were proud to have built that town with their two hands.
Thank you for sharing. Very interesting. 😊
Great episode! I really enjoyed the old footage and info/history.
Glad you enjoyed it
Great piece Jeff!
Back to 60-65 work week. So being #1 on comments. I'll take the back seat and enjoy on my weekend day off
The more Nevada stuff the better but California will do for now thanks Jeff
Thanks Jeff. I really enjoyed this. Ghost towns are so interesting to visit..

Thanks Jeff. Good story.
Man! This stuff is just wonderful to watch! Fantastic!! Thank you Jeff!!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👌🏼😎❤️
you betcha
Thank u and Lila for letting us revisit this historical area.
Wow what great knowledgeable history here! I loved every minute and had no idea about Brody “Brodie” thanks Jeff 🇨🇦✨
If my information is correct I think a bunch of hippies tried to live there for a while in the late '60s.
Great video Jeff everyone seems to be enjoying it I've been watching the viewer count and the light count since 9:30 a.m. Arizona time I'm very much into the history old ghost towns with post offices I'm lucky to be here in Arizona it seems to be an endless supply of old ghost towns and mine camps I have a question for you when you're standing in the middle of one of these little towns do you feel the energy from the pass here's an update on my challenge so far I found more gold on my own versus the gold I found on Club claims it's looking more like I might be filing a claim at the end of the year once again thanks for the video Jeff and Lela Arizona gold get out there and get some
Nice to see this again thanks Jeff
You bet
Thank you Jeff, I have never been to Bodie the road was always closed when I went by the exit....
That was an awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
I enjoy the ghost towns. Thanks for sharing your explanation with us Jeff 🤠 Hopefully no hitchhikers 👻 followed you out.
Wow jeff. Whats the answer? GOLD OF COURSE COME ON LETS GO!!😊
Very interesting thank you Jeff

Beautiful town, thank you always for an Awesome field trip 😁
Glad you enjoyed it
Jeff,loved it
Thank you for the super informative video(s) Jeff, we love it very much!! 💯
Glad you enjoyed it!
Well done Jeff. Been there a few times.
Good video Jeff , I like to learn the history of mining and what built this country, seems like most of it is long gone and never coming back unfortunately.
this is a pro video documentary, you've improved your videos wonderfully , congratulations jeff.
thanks
We just drove past this on our way south for AU, I want to explore so bad!
Righteous
Love the flashback clips, those were a great find! Stay safe 💞🤟🥳
JEFF! You old scalawag, you're in one of my most favorite places, been there many times over the years, I never tire of that place, your mind runs away with you while walking the streets. Of course I am familiar with E. Clampus Vitus, a very important group keeping mining history alive, much much respect. I was in Bridgeport in or around 2011 on a fishing trip, staying in Bridgeport we had gone to the historic hotel and restaurant on main there and what do you suppose we saw? E. Clampus Vitus was holding an indoctrination ritual there! Quite amusing too! There was a line of oh about 20 men sitting dead center along Hwy 395.....ROWING! Ya know, like in a boat! Except right down the center of 395, singing 'Row Row Row Your boat" felt honored to watch. Also in Bridgeport is one of the original generators used to power Bodie, it was built, if my memory is correct by French engineers and yes they did believe that if the line curved too much electricity would fall off! Seriously! I liked the inserted documentaries that you used, the colored version was narrated by Hoyt Axton, Im sure you know who he is, I have that video. What is the name of Black and White version that had the people who still lived there? Hey thanks a ton for this, Bodie is such a special place. OH and have you seen the movie Out of the Past with Robert Mitchum? Was the film that started the detective noir type films, well part is filmed in Bridgeport, Twin Lakes and Independence.
Thank you Jeff, really did enjoy this.
thanks and we are very honored to be able to bring this to you .....we love that town too and next time we are in Bridgeport we will have to check out that generator
@@Askjeffwilliams Somewhere around the courthouse
I love those two old gas pumps they are worth thousands of dollars ❤
The video is so well done! Hello Bodie! ♥
thanks
@28:39 there is a UFO flying in the center of the sky. you can see how the light reflects in the angle of the sun too.
Bodie ... a great name for a good 'ol hound dog.
Awesome history of Bodie area....my👖are blown away...to the Kuiperbelt in space!🧨💥🎇your chanel is great Jeff greetings from the Netherlands
thanks my brother from the Netherlands and we always love to hear that
Thanks Jeff, a really interesting video 🙂
My pleasure!
coool episode... some of it just dead cold... don't wake em up or take em down...
Thank you Jeff.
you betcha
Daniel Boones brother owned and ran the general store. Cool place, I wish they would preserve it better, a true one of a kind town. I first went there 45 years ago. It unfortunately has " gone alot more down hill."
Another great history lession to make things better in the future you.have to learn from the past nice jeff
Once again, thanks for the gold mining history, Jeff.
Jeff, have you visited Telluride Co.? I did many years ago while camping with my Grandparents.
At that time there were plates and silverware on the tables just where they had been left.
But, knowing sticky fingered idiots today there prob isn't much at all left.
Our visit started early morning, and while walking around just looking as we touched or took Nothing, being Respectful of what had been left behind.
I was walking alone at some point and heard the Whistle of the Silverton Train, which we know hadn't operated for quite some time. And yes it was daytime, and no one else heard it.
So, a Special Memory/Moment for me.
I'm torn TBH about returning, as I'm afraid of what has been Stolen over the intervening years.
Excellent video
I really enjoyed this video. Thank you Zmy brother
My pleasure
Brilliant video 👌👌👌
Hearse... Smiles!
I love Bodie.
I enjoyed it.
Wow Jeff this was a really cool video wonder why I didn't get notified when it was released? Any way thanks for sharing brother. I have a ORX with the 6x9 inch hf coil and a deus2 11 inch round fmf coil and a legend. All 3 would be fun where you live Especially the ORX it go up to 81 khz. Nice tones too. Wish I lived closer Mo. is quite a ways.
YT has a way of unsubscribing people
@@Askjeffwilliams I have been noticing this. Must be the way they keep from paying the creators so much of their earned money @ the same time shooting themselves in the foot. Thanks again for sharing your knowledge on Gold prospecting and mineral I.D. in a way that is not a boring subject. All good brother.
The final moral: never play with "fire" 😅.....funny this story reminds me when I'm 5 years old boy play with 🔥 closer to the home....then 13 years later I'm was a firefighters in my town for 2 years 😊
how ironic
Nice one Jeff!👍✌️
Thanks 👍
I won’t my head stone to have a Safe deposit box at the Back too Jeff..
No one would find it..!! lol 😂
Thanks for sharing this documentary.
Say hi to Lila Brother..
Cheers 🍻 Famo .👍⛏️
TONY !!!!! you can keep all your Gold in it ...... really glad you liked it ....will do my brother ...Cheers mate
"AU" let's go
hermoso lugar amigo lleno de historia
THANK YOU 2 FOR A VERY VERY COOL VIDEO AGAIN..SAFE TRAVELS
Granted I haven’t been to Bodie yet but I’d argue Virginia city is the most haunted town. Of all the places I’ve investigated vc takes it. Over tombstone Arizona although tombstone has some wild stuff too. I’ll have to check it out this summer.
I just bought your pan from a shop in oatman AZ. The lady running the shop told me you came through after a monsoon!
yep we go there a lot
19:46 guy walks up with a camera saying " look at those rocks, that's what you wanna see, huh?" 😂
Surely not wierd at all.😅
A 360° camera would be AWESOME.
Jeff…. I need to add something here. Why isn’t there an Emmy for UA-cam videos? This is certainly a candidate.
thanks , really appreciate that
