Honestly guys, the Ranger actors were just kids playing around and having fun all the time. JDF was super cool. He was just young and excited to be getting to do this job. Austin was the same way. He was just more laid back about it. They were all great kids and now they are great adults. Jason wasn't trying to be sneaky or grab all the attention for himself. All I meant to say was that he was super-hyper every day like a jumping bean. These are some of the nicest people I've ever worked with. So please don't confuse goofing around with being a diva. I've worked with divas and these guys were a million miles away from that. They're great.
Yeah. I have to admit I got choked up when I ran across that clip. Thuy was a wonderful girl and she is really missed by all of us. I'm glad I was lucky enough to work with her.
Thanks for sharing that Jeff. Thuy was the main reason I watched the show. I was much older than the target audience and thought she was cute and very attractive. She seemed to be a really sweet girl. It's very sad that she is no longer with us, because I think she would have loved the convention scene & meeting with fans and knowing what a impact that the show and her character had on so many people.
To Jeff Pruitt, Sophia Crawford and the rest of the stunt crew, along with the original Power Rangers cast, thank you for the wonderful, vibe, energy, dedication and genuine commitment to make a wonderful show that inspired people's lives. I myself one afternoon stumbled upon Mighty Morphin Power Rangers on TV, by chance, during the summer holidays, one afternoon, flicking through TV channels. I saw Austin St. John battle Goldar already in his red Power Ranger outfit, in a smoked filled environment, doing all sorts of flamboyant kicks and flips, along with ninja rolls on the floor. Being a martial arts enthusiast who grew up with as Bruce Lee as my childhood hero and a bonafide Hong Kong action movie fan, the martial arts action sequences in Power Rangers is what grasped my attention and made me become a bonafide fan. Thank you for uploading this wonderful behind the scenes video montage. Thuy Trang rest in peace and God bless your benevolent soul, you were one of the reasons I fell in love with Asian girls.
ホアン フェレンチノ イオリョ Agreed ! The martial arts moves ,and stunt men behind them and the puddies , and the athletic original cast actors, that made it somewhat believable that it could be them behind the Power Ranger suits ,is what really kicked this show off! Thanks 🙏🏿 For the memories! Rip to the Original Yellow Ranger , And RIP to Chris Evans , MY Power Ranger Homeboy from back in the hood WESTSIDE CPT 148th st and Cahita ave!!!
Adrian Mcinnis right on my fellow Power Ranger brother. Indeed the athleticism and martial arts powers of the original Power Rangers cast, gave it credibility and brought inspiration to many of our young lives, growing up back in the 1990s. They were the perfect, as well as ideal, motivational role models. I am so blessed they were part of my childhood! 👍 😊 ✌
A good majority of this is B.S. because the show actually used footage for the fight scenes from Super Sentai. In the show they never wore their suits. It was always Japanese footage from Super Sentai. That's why Yellow doesn't have a skirt. In Super Sentai that's a man.
The original cast will always be my favorite. Austin St. John, Thuy Trang, Walter Jones, Amy Jo Johnson, David Yost. Although the characters were stereotypical, there was great chemistry between the cast members. You could tell they were friends.
born in 88' & growing up as a Sentai kid & a PR kid made me glad u brought Hiroshi Maeda from Sentai to reprise his stunt role as Red Ranger & even better working with Sophia Crawford. even got meet them at Morphicon
Jeff , I’m 35 years old. My first memories of tv are of watching the strong and daring Pink Ranger. Fast forward to my Preteen days.. .Buffy was my example of what it meant to be independent and fearless but most importantly, she showed me how to be a leader. If I did not have these two examples growing up,I would not be who I am today. Period. I grew up and taught boxing,I was the leader of a rock n roll band, and most importantly, I grew up knowing how to use my VOICE. And even now, when I face the real dangers of being a woman in a very real dangerous world, I remind myself that I came from Kimberly, I came from Buffy … I came from power. Thank you Jeff. Thank you Sophia. Thank you SO much for sharing this and all your other videos and thank you for you both for your meaningful work. I am forever grateful.
Such nostalgia. My 7 year old daughter loves the original power rangers and I'm rewatching them with her and having a great time still as an aging man!!
Thanks, this made me feel like a child again, back in the good old days. Of the originals Power Rangers. I enjoyed seeing the behinds the sceens of all the characters; Especially my favorite one of all . . . R.I.P. Thuy Trang . . .
I did a couple of episodes for season 3 while we were still in Australia doing the MMPR movie. After that I got my DGA card (Power Rangers was a non-union directing job) and left the show. Sophia went with me. My former assistant Koichi took over from there.
Thank you so much for putting this up and helping to craft the show. Just like so many others, power rangers was a huge part of my childhood and I hope to one day be a ranger myself for the newer generation of kids.
We all know the actors of Power Rangers, but a Good Director is the one that make it work... I loved this video. I'm 22 and I still love Power Rangers. Thanks for making my childhood awesome C:
Wow I cant believe its been this long since I used to watch Power Rangers as a kid. Its so strange seeing the cast be themselves. Watching these fight scenes is still exhilarating even as an adult. Lol every 90's kid wanted to be a power ranger. I remember I used to put on my pink ranger gloves with the sound effects and punch at the air.
It's funny how there are just as many fans out there that think the red ranger is the best as there are that think the green ranger is. My personal favourite is the red ranger!
the show was the best with the red ranger as leader...and the green as the badboy backup...they should kept it that way...and let Zordon be the white ranger only in times when most needed
u gave me an Amazing childhood, its something soo permanent and important to what kinduva person id grow up to be. i hope you have an idea of how great this show, its lifetyle, games and toys filled us 90s kids hearts man. THANK YOU THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!
Jeff Pruitt is an amazing stunt performer and choreographer. The first time i saw him in a movie it was back on 1992 in Martial Law 2 in the factory fight with Jeff Wincott. His speed is amazing
HAHAHAHAHA!! I AM AN ORIGINAL POWER RANGER KID!!! I was 9 years old when this show started...I was hooked!!! GREAT STUNTS!! But what can we expect from Jeff Pruitt!! NOTHING BUT THE BEST!
Very cool documentary Jeff, thanks for putting it together. :) Oh and I'm just amazed that it was a British woman who was the Pink Ranger's in suit stunt actress. Really chuffed about that. ;)
Like I said before, having children on the stunt team would have been awesome. :) VR Troopers did an EXCELLENT episode where kids became the heroes for a change, allowing Beetleborgs to follow in its wake.
A couple of things I wish were done would be for all of the Zyu2 footage to be used before the Thunderzords were introduced, another would be for the Dragonzord to stick around still as Tommy's zord even after becoming the white ranger who on occasions would summon it for the monster fights in seasons 2 and 3. Well, Titanus was brought back in season 3. Having the Dragonzord present would explain why it's chest was on Titanus when the new ultrazords were being formed. And I would love to see White Ranger Tommy playing the dragon flute.
to think that he directed both Buffy The Vampire Hunter and Mighty Morphing Power Rangers, I want to know If Jeff has done more recent works during this time ( 2000 - 2016 )
I did read Jason David Frank WAS in costume ALOT doing his own stunts! Just look at him fighting in clothing and compare and it's almost identical! Amy Jo Johnson and David Yost I knew weren't because they didn't have the martial arts abilities. I always had a soft spot for Johnny Yong Bosch aka Adam. He seems off set like a REALLY nice guy and was a "cute" ranger ("I'm a frog!" lol! Take a look at JDF now as an MMA fighter...amazing!
Literally every other cast member has corroborated the fact they weren't often in the suits, including JDF because the filming schedule would not allow for it. They were often filming two or three episodes at the same time.
Thank You for posting this. As a 20 year old this brings back serious memories Lol. I used to be a power ranger freak wish I was a member of this cast but of course I was wayyy to young at the time (still going to daycare) This brings me to question how the original cast was chosen--how did the auditioning process go?
Mr. Pruitt, first of all thank you for these PR behind the scenes, they're great to watch. I was wondering what you think about the Gokaiger/Megaforce 2nd season, it being the 20th anniversary series that more of the original MMPR's aren't there? I actually am curious to see JDF back as the white ranger.
Very cool BTS stuff! Its something I'm actually interested in doing! Also, this version of the theme song was actually used in the new Power Rangers movie!
I miss the 90's watching Power Rangers am still fan to this day. Love original cast members best and original MegaZord and DragonZord. Season 1 is best. Season Thunder Zord was pretty boring to be honest not good as MegaZord and also in season 2 I hated 3 cast members left. Season 3 got back on track and love Ninja suits and zords in season 3. Never watch any more after Mighty Morphin power Rangers season 3 from that point but will end up getting them on DVD and watch them. I started collecting old Power ranger toys, VHS videos and start getting new stuff also. I am back in as fan as was when was kid. Oh man miss 90's gone so fast am now 32 years old lol. Also like pay my respects to Thuy Trang R.I.P the best Yellow Power Ranger such so sad she gone too soon I only knew about few years ago and had crush on her too when I was kid. Love this video thanks for uploading it. I am from UK Wales
Theeeeeeeey ve got the ability to morph to even out theeeeee score! Love this footage and respect to the stunt director and stunt actors for putting in the ahrd work that created our childhood dreams!!!!!!!!!!Im 29 and I grew up with the MMPR. I rememeber being 5 and having all sorts of pwoer ranger toys and the red ranger mask. The 90s were the best times ever. Everything was bright and colorful and free! The clothing and style was so colorful and so varied! Now everything is so tight and gloomy and dark! People are also dark and gloomy and everything has to be political correct! Back then no one cared that the black ranger was actually black! Cuz the color black wasnt associated to having a brown skin color until much later in time. Now every tv show has to keep all sorts of rules in mind and has to be careful in what they say and do.
It( power rangers) wasn't nostalgic yet when this vid came out. In 2021 the 93 rangers are officially nostalgic. Go 86, 85. 84 eighties babies! This belongs to us and us only :)
I can't help but feel that Jason was trying to steal the glory from Austin. Funny thing thing, Austin doesn't hate him but JDF will do everything to take shots at him and it seems this is why Austin had enough of him in the end. Low pay, Jason taking all his shots and taking over as the main guy and even saying himself that he's more popular... That's way too arrogant and he's unfortunately even worse today. He thinks he IS Power Rangers.
Not sure why but I'm rather curious as to what kind of cameras were used back then. Basically from MMPR to Wild Force. Just liked the way everything looked.
Prior to the conversion to digital filming (Saban Brands era, PR Samurai for example), the original seasons of MMPR+Zeo+Turbo+Space+Galaxy+Time Force+Wild Force were all shot on 16MM film Arriflex cameras by ARRI.
@@boogerman908 Between MMPR S1 through Wild Force, everything was filmed on 16MM ARRI cameras with prints processed by Fotokem here in southern California. After editing the final cut, and sound editing was completed, the finished prints and audio mix were recorded by means of the Telecine process to broadcast SONY Betacam SP master tapes.
@@dairenn that's totally beyond my scope of knowledge.foes that explains the low quality or how we completely lost some scenes in a post 9/11 world? Not being sassy genuinely curious
You know i seen alot of comments bout JDF trying to rake all the shine but i dont think tht was the case i think he took alot of pride in his role, not saying the rest dident but he was just that much more enthusiastic, hes always been wat seems like a funny, down to earth guy that put alot of effort into wat he did ppl forget for the first year JDF was pushed aside alot compared to the others and us kids loved him i still at 30 years old can say he was my childhood hero as much as iron man spiderman etc is to kids
Honestly guys, the Ranger actors were just kids playing around and having fun all the time. JDF was super cool. He was just young and excited to be getting to do this job. Austin was the same way. He was just more laid back about it. They were all great kids and now they are great adults.

sounds like it a really fun job
Was there really a lot of animosity between Jason and Austin?
Jeff Pruitt Trust me bro, your work shows tremendously! Thank you for helping make my childhood amazing
adam was there anything between Amy Jo Johnson and JDf
how about something billy said about those gay stuff is that true ?
Yeah. I have to admit I got choked up when I ran across that clip. Thuy was a wonderful girl and she is really missed by all of us. I'm glad I was lucky enough to work with her.

4:40 I'm black and I play the black ranger ... go figure! hahah

This was the end of season 2.
Also Hien,Babydoll, Branden,Mer Mer also left around this time.

Tyrannosaurus > Dragon
Absolutely love Jason
I like Jason and Tommy but i never really liked Rocky so when he came into the show i was glad Tommy was the leader
@Robert 0077 You aren’t wrong. He definitely has a massive ego and wants to kinda be the center of the Power Rangers franchise.
I was one of the mighty morphin power rangers kids I'm 24 now love this video its awesome thank you @Jeff Pruitt
I grew up with this show, and this behind the scenes stuff is great! Thanks!
This is incredible! Thank you for uploading this!
And another huge piece of the puzzle falls into place as to why there has always been friction between JDF and ASJ.
This is great, Jeff! Wish this had been in the DVD box set!
u gave me an Amazing childhood, its something soo permanent and important to what kinduva person id grow up to be. i hope you have an idea of how great this show, its lifetyle, games and toys filled us 90s kids hearts man. THANK YOU THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH!!
David's face when JDF interrupts going "Green Green Green!" XD
Buffy was never the same after you guys left!
Rest in peace jason
Thank you, Mr. Pruitt, sincerely.
Thanks for all Jeff!!! Thank u very much for thats childhood memories.
Jeff Pruitt is an amazing stunt performer and choreographer. The first time i saw him in a movie it was back on 1992 in Martial Law 2 in the factory fight with Jeff Wincott. His speed is amazing
Thank you Jeff, your work is what got me and my brothers into martial arts.
thank you so much for making this. :)
Another awesome look behind the scenes.
I was a power ranger kid I was 5 when this came out
I remember reading about Sofia Crawford in a Inside Kung Fu magazine that mentioned her her work in mmpr and Buffy.
David Yost shouted "Get out of here!!" when JDF interrupt with the "green green green" haha. I mean look at Thuy Trang reaction!
Really chuffed about that. ;)
Funny how he had the putty team come up with their own intro. Really made them more fun
I Was also a Mighty Morphin Power Ranger kids, this Is awesome, thanks for uploading this
The bit with Bulk saying non-union at the end…oh my god!
Like I said before, having children on the stunt team would have been awesome. :) VR Troopers did an EXCELLENT episode where kids became the heroes for a change, allowing Beetleborgs to follow in its wake.
So you've seen VR Troopers too then, Angie? So did I.
Andrew Chapman
You did?
Angie2343 Oh yeah.
Andrew Chapman
What did you think of it?
Angie2343 I loved it.
Your welcome. Yep. Sophia and I are both on facebook, but not on twitter. Stop by and friend us sometime.
I can't wait to go to Comic Con next weekend and meet JDF!!!! I'm so excited!
3:26 So he weaseled his way in to steal the spot light from Austin.
Yep, makes sense why they don't get along. Personally I always like Jason (ASJ) more than Tommy (JDF).
Jeff Pruitt you did awesome job back in the day
to think that he directed both Buffy The Vampire Hunter and Mighty Morphing Power Rangers, I want to know If Jeff has done more recent works during this time ( 2000 - 2016 )
buffy the vampire hunter? you mean slayer
hahahaha hunter ahahahahahahahahahha what a dumb thing to say!
hey the original is the best, its still awesome to watch when it comes on, brings back excellent memories.
I did read Jason David Frank WAS in costume ALOT doing his own stunts! Just look at him fighting in clothing and compare and it's almost identical! He seems off set like a REALLY nice guy and was a "cute" ranger ("I'm a frog!" lol! Take a look at JDF now as an MMA fighter...amazing!
Amy and David were trained in gymnastics, so they could easily do the flips needed.
Literally every other cast member has corroborated the fact they weren't often in the suits, including JDF because the filming schedule would not allow for it. They were often filming two or three episodes at the same time.
i always wanted to know how u did the stunts and the morphing prosses now i can but it to bed after 15yrs of being a fan of the show
Awww, they're so young.
Did anyone else have the PR soundtracks on repeat?
its on youtube you can just right click on youtube videos and click repeat!
Thank You for posting this. As a 20 year old this brings back serious memories Lol. I used to be a power ranger freak wish I was a member of this cast but of course I was wayyy to young at the time (still going to daycare) This brings me to question how the original cast was chosen--how did the auditioning process go?

0:35 That's where Hulk Hogan learned the deadly fingerpoke that killed WCW!!!!!!! ;*(
Very cool BTS stuff! Its something I'm actually interested in doing! Also, this version of the theme song was actually used in the new Power Rangers movie!

Love this video thanks for uploading it. I am from UK Wales
This was so sweet :c
Theeeeeeeey ve got the ability to morph to even out theeeeee score! RIP the yellow ranger 😔
+Tim Heritage :(
She was so pretty. so sad.
This power ranger batch I miss so much. i wish the tv management and production at that time treated the cast better.
Ya did an excellent job helping rangers
To think Jason and Austin never got on in real life, it's a shame.
Jeff and Sophia !!!! Buffy the vampire slayer my mind is blown.
Brilliant! Brings back childhood memories :-)
Awwwww i used to loveeee them.... :D
Would love to see a in depth full length behind the scenes/ making of the MMPR tv show with cast interviews, unseen footage on set e.t.c..
Did you know that, in season one, most of the fighting scene was taken from Zyurangers. The original power rangers.
Thank you Captain Obvious ...
Tiffany Tyler Well I, sure as shit, didn't know that.
It( power rangers) wasn't nostalgic yet when this vid came out. In 2021 the 93 rangers are officially nostalgic. Go 86, 85. 84 eighties babies! This belongs to us and us only :)
Wow... It's a BTS from the episode "Puty on the Brain" and I literally still have the video tape!
thank you jeff!!!!
Yezzirrrrrr. Us Stunt guys gettin praise 🔥✊🏿

So true.
tbh, he IS Power Rangers
i know
Lol when you said *Jason* took away from *Austin* I got confused.
Yeah it seemed then and even till this day he would do anything to bury the guy
oh man.. this is awesome..
Thanks for this.
For the longest I wanted to know who was the stuntwoman doing Thuy's stunts at 4:26? Thuy was injured at the time.
Totally love this.
Glad JDF shared this on facebook :D
Jeff, you are the man!
Jeff you have amazing kick speed too!! I remember watching Sword of Honor and thinking "MY GOD HE'S FAST!"
Dude, you gotta do the stunt/fight coordination for the Halo movie. The "Elites" are big on hand to hand. Man, that will be so badass!!!
So how did they get all those are monster costumes in the hallway I just wanna know how do they perform the monster stunts inside them
I wonder if the Japanese suit stunts are the same suit stunts from the Sentai Toei production team. The Sentai suit stunts actors are OG’s.
cool austin st john in his prime & david was so hyper & no tommy ur not my fav ranger its jason the true leader
3:59 I wonder if Tommy's bag would've vapourised if the putty had still been holding it when he crumbled to pieces?????
Now we just need someone to do one about the sound effects. I'm still trying to find out where the sounds came from/how some were made.
JDF is the same way now as he was back then I love it!
Thats an impressive move at 2:24 Tommy Oliver All day! #JDF
Jason Frank comes early apparently ....
but that's none of my business.
Aaaaand one of my favorite comments.
You tried it! Mmmhmm...
Is that Austin St. John?
Jason
Actually,Amy Jo said that Jason David Frank was the one who left the set and people had to wait for him. There is an interview where she said that.
What kind of fighting style do they use?
Heeeey, I think I've seen the home video that some of this stuff was pulled from. It's kind of infamous for a couple things related to JDF.
Are you talking about the power rangers behind the scenes footage I think the part that's famous is where billy pushes jdf
Wait... What?
I totally never thought about the fact that no one gets hit in the face...
OMG my childhood right here! XD
I must know. What was it like working with the late Thuy Trang?
Not sure why but I'm rather curious as to what kind of cameras were used back then. Basically from MMPR to Wild Force. Just liked the way everything looked.
Tape probably. Like what most consumer cameras used but at a professional level. I think that's why they're all low definition
